The ball has dropped, the new year's resolutions have been made (and some have most likely been dropped), and the boys are back at the round table for their first discussion of 2023! It's a very special episode of Flame ON! dear listeners, as our hosts have found the gateway to The Dreaming and convened to discuss a topic that is very near and dear to their hearts. Every so often a piece of pop culture arises that our hosts have been waiting for and will devour readily in order to share their opinions and this topic just so happens to be one! Adapting The Sandman, the beloved graphic novel series written by Neil Gaiman and released from January 1989 until March 1996, Netflix always had an extremely difficult task at hand. How do you take a world of such rich imagination and turn it into reality? The answer seemed to be, to throw $165 million dollars into the production! Did this work? What about the casting choices? As fall descends across the land, our mighty Warriors Three have assembled at the table of King Valkyrie to discuss, dissect, and disseminate upon the adventures of the one and only Thor. Wait. There's another Thor? Helmed by the wacky and wonderful director Taika Waititi, the fourth installment in the Thor franchise takes the color saturation, jokes, and screaming goats and turns the dial all the way up to 11. The time has come to turn on Disney+ and check out the newest entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the small screen. Pat and BeeJay have made a deal with the podcast gods to be their avatars while dishing about the (first) season of Moon Knight as Oscar Isaac brings the night traveler to the small screen. So this is Christm... wait, no, we're past Christmas and ready for the ball to drop as the boys ring in 2022! The past year has both felt like its flown by AND been the longest three years ever, but that means that there is plenty of pop culture to dish about at our round table. As Pride month comes to an end, the boys of Flame ON! have gathered to discuss a hot button topic that seems to come up every year lately on social media and that is whether or not there is a place for kink at Pride events. Is this a topic that is really having an impact on the community, or is it a highly planned disinformation attack on LGBTQIA+ events by accounts meant to rile up right wing social media users? The boys tackle this discussion as well as aspects of Pride events that are lacking and should be topics being dissected by the community. They also talk about the beginnings of Pride, how virtual Pride events during the pandemic have opened up accessibility to events otherwise inaccessible, as well as where they feel Pride events should be headed in order to continue moving in a positive, more progressive direction. The boys round out the conversation with talks about intersectionality and how indiscriminate "canceling" of those with differing viewpoints closes the door on teachable moments and the ability to hold people accountable for their own growth and development when they fall short in social matters.

It's Pride month here in the US and what better way to kick off this year's pride festivities than by celebrating a huge milestone in this gay and geeky podcast's history! That's right, Flame ON! has turned ten! That's a decade's worth of pop culture, news, and shade and we are here to celebrate. After 2020 set their project into an indefinite holding pattern, Disney and Marvel have come out of the gates swinging in 2021. With television projects like the acclaimed WandaVision leading the charge, their second Marvel TV outing had a lot to live up to. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was brought to the small screen by Malcolm Spellman and featured many (if not all) writers of color to tell a nuanced story of the black experience not only in this fictional world of the MCU, but how real life experiences shape the lives of these fictional characters. The show also tackles the PTSD of Bucky Barnes as he tries to escape his past as The Winter Soldier through therapy and making amends, regardless of whether it's for the greater good or just to help ease his conscience. It's the month of March in the year 2021. We've made it past the milestone of one year from the start of lockdowns and have tackled the crisis of the coronavirus pandemic in a multitude of ways (or in the case of some states, barely paid it any mind) and the one thing that has been a constant in our lives has been Flame ON! The boys are back and excited to bring a brand new pop culture round up your way and this time they're digging into the much talked about, for better or worse, Zack Snyder's Justice League available exclusively on HBO Max as our first topic. Was it worth the time and money devoted to making it a reality? From The Dick Van Dyke Show to Modern Family, Monica Rambeau to Agatha Harkness, Wanda to Vision, the team behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe had their work cut out for them when they announced a slate of new made for television shows starring characters that were almost never in the spotlight more than a few fleeting moments in most movies. In addition, a global pandemic made those plans even tougher to pull off. However, thanks to the work of an amazing cast and crew, the first outing from the television side of the MCU is a stunning homage to classic sitcoms and astonishing storylines that spanned decades of comics from West Coast Avengers to the solo series Scarlet Witch and The Vision. As everyone may know, our very own Oral is THE BIGGEST Scarlet Witch fan, and a review of the show would never happen without his presence, so we were ecstatic to be able to find the time to sit down with him to not only discuss what this show did right, but also point out some areas that maybe fell a little short (spoiler - Oral finds no fault in the show and disputes any notion to the contrary!) while also addressing how fan theories can go overboard and try to diminish the work even though none of those theories were promised from the source. To cap off our review, we throw out our own wild speculation and theories about where we want to see the characters and plot threads go from here!

Before they can dazzle an audience (and RuPaul) in the annual talent show, Ricky Martin joins the queens to open the library for some all stars level shade. This season's talent show took the competition to a whole new level before the biggest shock of the season was revealed... the winner of the challenge will have to lip sync against a lip sync assassin for the chance to win $10,000 and the chance to send one of the bottom two queens home, but if they don't win, the queen that the rest of the cast votes to eliminate will be sent packing!
