Strangeways (1980): A look inside the notorious prison

Strangeways Prison in Manchester, England, was all over the news in 1990 thanks to a 25-day riot by prisoners over conditions inside the Victorian jailhouse. Back in 1980 TV cameras went inside to find out what life inside was like, and even then things were pretty grim.

We look at the 1980 documentary series and discuss the rights and wrongs of the prison system and how best to treat people who have broken the law.

Quadrophenia (1979): Franc Roddam brings The Who's mod opera to life

The Who's 1979 album Quadrophenia is transferred to the big screen by director Franc Roddam with a cast of teenagers who would go on to be mainstays of British TV and film for decades to come.

Phil Daniels is Jimmy, a young mod who's entire life is devoted to music, scooters, parties and trying to get the girl - in this case Steph played by Leslie Ash.

Jimmy hopes to find salvation through the scene but a trip to Brighton proves transformative in ways he hadn't expected.

We also talk about football memories, how the mod look is used today, old pubs in South Shields, a terrible meal and loads more.

In the mid-90s video games were having something of a moment, with the likes of Sega Megadrive, Super Nintendo and Amiga bringing some amazing games to the market,

Capitalising on the boom in the UK was Gamesmaster, a Channel 4 show presented by Dominik Diamond and astronomer Patrick Moore that features gaming challenges with gamers and celebrities, reviews, previews, hints and tips.

We watch a couple of episodes, talk about ruining Christmas, a surprise Paul Young cover and the Celebrity Crime quiz returns.

For British kids int he 80s when a big TV got wheeled not the classroom, you know things were looking up. One of the shows schools put on for pupils was Look & Read which had dramas spliced into the pieces on spelling and grammar. One of those was the unparalleled Geordie Racer, which gives us a good chance to do our best Newcastle accents. We also discuss 1973's The Tomorrow People, a sci-fi drama about the next evolution of mankind. There's the usual nonsense, too.

We watch the biopic Marvellous from 2014, starring Toby Jones, Gemma Jones and Tony Curran, directed by Julian Farino and written by Peter Bowker and find plenty to love in it.

There are also some more people in Cliff's bed, crawling up his knee and a book quiz.

The Mist: Stephen King's supermarket invasion horror

Brett finally gets Cliff to watch a Stephen King movie, thanks to his beloved Andre Braugher starring in it (until he gets killed by flying monsters).

The Mist takes place inside a supermarket - the group of shoppers and staff are trapped inside thanks to a looming mist that seems to have vicious creatures lurking inside. Soon we find out there are monsters inside as well, and not the flying kind.

Thomas Jane and Marcia Gay Harden get the lead roles but Toby Jones and a few other familiar faces pop up as well.

We also discuss the time Cliff got a famous guitarist angry and there's a quiz about album titles.

The Beatles Anthology: Episode one of the groundbreaking 1995 TV show

In 1995 The Beatles returned to the screen with Anthology the first exhaustive documentary made with all of The Beatles' involvement. It also reunited the remaining three members ad blew Brett and Cliff's tiny minds in the process.

We talk about listening to the music, watching the show and whether Ringo gets the respect he deserves among other things.

There's also a poignant tribute, a novel discovery and a failed attempt at a quiz, as well as a surprise at the end.

There's also some very strong language in the middle. Sorry mam.

Round the Twist: The fantastical Australian kids TV show

The Aussie show about the lighthouse-dwelling Twist family has elements of fantasy, slapstick and even horror. In this episode we talk about the series two episode Little Squirt, about a disgruntled water nymph who wrongly targets little Bronson Twist as the person who's building a damn in the town - with hilarious results!

As well as that, we also reminisce about mountain abandonment and attacks over wrongful lookalike spotting and Cliff is joined by three mysterious figures climbing up his knees.

There are also interruptions for some hoover inspection, breaking news of a legend's death and a mop delivery.

It's a good one.

The Strangest Village in Britain focuses on Botton in Yorkshire, which has 150 residents with learning difficulties or disabilities. We talk about the characters, their humour and the situation they're in. Is it a good idea, or is it a kind of institution?

We then turn to Mini from 1975 - a film by Franc Roddam - that tells that tale of a troubled young man called Michael Cooper, who's in and out of assessment centres after a spate of criminal behaviour. What will his fate be, and is he dealt with fairly?
