Army vet, Joe Lee Richards Jr. is reported missing October 20, 2010. His truck is found, keys in the ignition along with other valuables still in the vehicle. In November, an anonymous tip is received, seemingly providing a break in the case. What is soon revealed goes well beyond Joe Lee Richards Jr, exposing a darker history.

In the small, northeastern Arkansas town of Bay, 90-year-old Lavinda Counce has not answered calls from her daughter. Lavinda's daughter arrives to the home, where Lavinda's vehicle is missing, along with Lavinda herself. A black bag is found in the home with strange items. A frantic search begins.

Episode 84: Barry Lee Fairchild

Marjorie "Greta" Mason was 22-year-old nurse at the Little Rock Air Force Base. In 1983, about two weeks after moving to Arkansas she was found murdered in Lonoke County. Eventually, the police locked in on Barry Lee Fairchild as the killer. While Fairchild confessed to the crime, it wasn't as open and shut of a case as one might expect.

Episode 80: James Alexander Cary

Andrew tells us the story of James Alexander Cary, who served in the first World War before becoming a ranger with the National Park Service stationed in Hot Springs during Prohibition. Cary spent most of his time tracking down bootleggers and their liquor stashes in the mountains. In 1926, Cary arrested three men illegally transporting booze, one of whom threatened Cary, telling him that he would never be able to testify against the bootleggers.

He even got married and had a child, but would still disappear at months at a time. What was he up to?

The post-show is shorter than normal because we just talk about so much and so many. Andrew tries to stop being such a coward and starts the Resident Evil 2 remake. Caitlin ended Halloween because she already watched Hocus Pocus. Did she also summon real demons via D&D?

In November of 2014, two-year-old, Malik Drummond wandered away from his home in Searcy, Arkansas. A massive search ensued, involving over 400 volunteers. Marcel Wayne Williams grew up in a broken home, leading to a broken life. He went to adult prison when he was only 15 years old where he would suffer physical and sexual violence. In 1994, he would be released and then kidnap, rape, and murder Stacy Rae Errickson. Williams would become one of the four people that the state of Arkansas hastily executed when their supply of the drug midazolam was expiring.

Born a slave, he eventually got his freedom by escaping to Indian Territory before the end of the American Civil War. Eventually he would move to Ft. Smith, Arkansas where he would become the first black deputy west of the Mississippi. During his time rounding up outlaws, he would go on to have a legendary career.

Caitlin got engaged! She also tells us about some medical stuff and that time she got a sound bath and all of the great sleep she got. Andrew stopped depressing himself with dark films by playing a very hard video game which seem counterintuitive. He also tries to convince Caitlin to watch Garth Marenghi's Darkplace with poor results, but does get her interested in fantasy series Earthsea. We also discuss the Loki finale.

In 1995, Jack Harold Jones Jr. robbed, raped, and murdered Mary Phillips and attempted to murder her 11-year-old daughter, Lacy. Lacy would somehow survive and be able to identify Jones as the killer. 1995 wasn't the first time Jones had done something like this though.

Afterwards, Andrew watched all of those newer Godzilla and Kong movies like a lunatic, and Caitlin is bad at gardening.

This week we have a pair of stories. To kick things off, we go to southern Arkansas to talk about Nena Bolton, who was the granddaughter of a prominent figure in McNeil, Arkansas named Ralph Ward. He supported Nena financially throughout her life, but the risk of being cut off from the money train threatened to change their relationship.

We travel back to 1976 in this week's episode of Paint the Town Dead! A single mother of three, Linda Edwards found work with the Garland County Sheriff's Department. Around this time she had also began an affair with a Hot Springs police officer named Thurman Abernathy. The two had many heated arguments and he was the last person to see Edwards before she disappeared. Abernathy was the prime suspect, but did he make her vanish? Yeah, probably.

There's not a Marvel show for us to yak about this week but we found something even better: Cults! Mostly, it's about Scientology. Andrew has continued down the rabbit hole from last week and he and Caitlin have just so much and so many words to share on the subject.

Kenneth Williams fell into a life of crime when he was only nine years old. In 1998 he went beyond the looking glass, by committing murder. He killed Dominique Hurd, a beloved cheerleader at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Sadly, that was only the beginning of his vile crimes.

Caitlin tells the story of why this episode was late, which includes her early thoughts on Jojo Rabbit.

Andrew watched that there Mandalorian as he typically does. Then the team talks about the new Star Wars announcements while Andrew tries to convince Caitlin to watch the newest season as soon as possible.
