In episode 26 Cameron and James invite Michael Frogley to take a seat with them. Mike Frogley is highly regarded among the greatest wheelchair basketball minds in the world. He is a leader, a mentor, and an innovator who is actively involved in the development of the sport at all levels.

Frog began playing basketball when he was 10 years old. He continued playing to the highest level competing at 2 paralympic games. Following his playing carer Frog moved behind the bench where he coach Canada to back-to-back paralympic gold medals and a silver. Following his successful reigin as a player and coach Frog was elected into the wheelchair basketball hall of fame which accompanies an extensive list of awards.

During this episode we talk to Frog about Reverse Intergration, adaptive and para sport classification systems, the language of sport, and the brisbane 2032 paralympic game legacy. This episode had us on the edge of our seat taking notes constantly with purpose and intent. We hope that you enjoy this episode as much as we did.

Reverse Inclusion with Suncoast Spinners and Dr Bridie Kean

Adam Hills tackles us with laughter

In episode 23 Cameron and James invite Aussie megastar Adam Hills to take a seat with them. There is very little that Adam hasn’t done in his life like meeting the Royal Family, representing Australia at the rugby league World Cup, hosting TV shows like Spicks and Specks and The Last Leg , performing at international stand up comedy festivals, and receiving awards out his wahzoo. While we like to dream that we match up to these achievements, we know just how lucky we are that Adam made time in his busy schedule to talking to us.

Having recently finished the 2021 Physical Disability Rugby League World Cup we felt it was very important to talk to Adam about Physical Disability Rugby League and his involvement. His insight to the sport, it’s governance and the importance of its growth in the future. It quickly became very obvious that the South Sydney fan holds Australia and his bunnies close to his heart with his passion bleeding through in his playing performance at the recent World Cup.

We were lucky enough to learn more about his television program The Last Leg. Starting back in 2012 they were continued after the Paralympics with weekly episodes talking about disabilities, news, and sports. He was even nice enough to provided us with the secret ingredients that made them so successful.

We finish the episode with our hard cards and general conversation that left us in stitches and gasping for air.

We loved every second of this episode and we are certain that you will love it equally as much.

Upstream with a paddle and Anne Usher

In episode 22 Cameron and James invite Anne Usher formally Dickins to take a seat with them. Prior to her impairment Anne was an avid cyclist which all ended one day when she bent over to put on her shoe. After suffering from the medical emergency of cauda equina syndrome, Anne was left with limitations in her lower limbs. These impairments resulted in Anne struggling with her passion of cycling. This did not deter her away from the sport as she turned her focus to being team GBs physiotherapist at the London 2012 olympic games. At these games she had a chance meeting with the GB Paracanoeing coach who encouraged her to try a new sport. Fast forward 4 years to Rio where Anne was successful in winning the Gold medal in the KL3 Paracanoeing and becoming Great Britain's 100th Medal of the games.

Since winning her Gold Medal Anne has become a Public and motivational speaker as well as a member of the superhero tri series. This amazing Concept established by fellow Paralympian Sophia Warner has changed many lives in the United Kingdom. During the Episode Anne explains how these events have built a community which now thrives in success.

New found bromance with World Champion Sebastian Bechara

In episode 21 Cameron and James invite Sebastian Bechara to take a seat with them. Unfortunately, Cameron (Australia) was unable to join James (England) in the conversation with Sebastian (England) due to the time difference and travel difficulties suffered on the day of the interview.

Sebastian Bechara was a vital part of the English Wheelchair Rugby League side that was recently crowned World Champions at the Rugby League World Cup hosted in England. During the tournament, Seb was also awarded the prestigious Golden Boot award signifying him as the World's Best player. It is no wonder why he received these awards after hearing the years of sacrifice on and off the court that Seb has made.

People always ask Seb how he can be so passionate as an Englishman despite living in France since the age of 9. His conversation with James displays why he is so passionate about his country and loves the sport of wheelchair rugby league. Seb explains how he found the sport post Transtibial amputation (below the knee) and how he was inspired by the London 2012 Paralympics during his rehabilitation.

James and Seb recap their first playing encounter against each other in 2019 before talking further about the recent World Cup, and its impact on the sport and the community as a whole. The boys go further into the tactics of the game and why England was so successful while Australia's Wheelaroos struggled. Both James and Seb are brutally honest throughout.

Multiple Sclerosis Ignited A Paralympic Flame

In 1998 a Doctor changed Carol's life when he delivered her diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in a way that ignited a Paralympic flame deep within her. Not willing to go home and write her will, Carol began living her life to the fullest. She has now represented Australia in multiple sports, raised millions of dollars, and became a motivational speaker. This episode shows that a person can do anything they put their mind to regardless of their abilities, age, and gender.

Changing the future 1 blade at a time

In episode 6 Cameron and James invite Kimberly Alkemade to take a seat with them. Kimberly is a below-knee amputee from the Netherlands who has been running competitively for 4 years. She has achieved unimaginable feats in her short career, including world championship medals and now a Paralympic bronze medal.

Despite sustaining her injury at the age of 8, Kimberly did not start competing in sports until she was 27. She received a second-hand running blade from her prosthetist which changed her life, giving her freedom and the feeling of flying.

Long before her competitive career, Kimberly has been inspiring people to move and exercise. After completing her human movements degree she created her own company called “moving for growth” which she used to express how important it is to be active.

Kimberly is inspiring generations to come through multiple avenues. Cameron and James thoroughly enjoyed their conversation with Kimberly and can not wait to cheer her on at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

Brothers Finding A Sporting Passion Together

In episode 5 Cameron and James invite close mates Cory Mostran and Shaun Harre to take a seat with them.

Cory and Shaun are the pioneers, heart and soul of Wheelchair Rugby League in Queensland. Following a life-changing injury in 2011 Cory was looking for a sport that engulfed his life. As a devoted Brother-in-law Shaun tagged along to many come and try days, helping Cory find a sport to fall in love with. Shaun said that deep down he was always looking for a sport that they could play together. In 2014 they found wheelchair rugby league and have never looked back. With assistance from Cory's sister and Shaun's Wife Gemma, they have built the sport in South-East Queensland from 3 people to an entire community.

Not only have Cory and Shaun found a sport together but they have changed each other's lives for the better. They outline how one phone call made a world of difference. Without that phone call, this world would be a different place. Overall this episode shows how family, friends and sport can bring people together irrespective of the stigmas, disabilities and complications.

Dark Times living with Parkinson's Disease

In episode 2 Cameron and James invite Rob Markeljc to take a seat with them.

Rob is a long term family friend of James and client of Cameron. Since his diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease and a serious heart condition in June 2009, Rob has been proactive with his health through sport and exercise. From the outset of his diagnosis Rob has been inspiring the sporting community including James' U/12 Buderim Wonders Soccer club.

During the episode Rob outlines how dark times have been for him and his family, but he has not allowed this to limit his life. He has participated in intensive therapy at Enhanced Living pushing the boundaries often expressed as too difficult for people with Parkinson's Disease. Rob's most recent major achievement is being awarded his 2nd Dan in karate. This shows his years of dedication to helping and inspiring people despite his own struggles.

Both Cameron and James are in absolute awe of Rob, loving the raw emotion and openness he has in this conversation.

Dan “Run DMC” McCoy

In this episode Cameron and James invite Dan McCoy to take a seat with them.

Pre-injury Dan was regarded as one of the worlds best super and motocross riders. He travelled the globe competing in the most illustrious races such as San Diego monster energy AMA finishing with world rankings as high as 15.

In 2016 during the second round of the trans-Moto Supercross series Dan had an accident that resulted in him sustaining a spinal-cord injury at T11/12. Following weeks of hospitalisation in Scotland Dan was able to fly home to Australia thanks to major fundraising by friends, family, and fellow riders Robbie Madison, Glenn Kearney, Jay and Ryan Marmont.

Dan has mentioned has maintained his passion for sport and riding, thriving every day. he has been given the first motocross Australia riding license for someone with an injury or disability. This allows him to ride on motorcross Australia tracks and has opened the door for fellow riders with an injury or disability to participate in the sport they love. Dan has also begun adaptive downhill mountain biking winning the Crankworx Rotorua and gaining silver in the Fox US open.

With his equipment modifications Dan has been able to compete at the highest levels of both open class and adaptive sports. He encourages everyone to participate in the sports they love irrespective of their barriers as everything is adaptive or someone is willing to help you achieve your goals.

Dans young family has been there every step of the way with him encouraging his son and daughter to have the confidence to anything they set their minds to.
