On her first visit to Mexico, with the intention to explore the archeological ruins, she unexpectedly fell in love with Mexican food. The rich offerings at the markets she visited surpassed anything she had ever seen. ]]>Lisa is a serial entrepreneur who previously ran her own recruiting firm in Chicago. After she and her husband decided to move to Mexico full-time in 2011, they soon launched Recreo San Miguel.
First inspired by the quintessential Mexican serape, the idea behind Recreo was to re-invent the traditional garment using luxurious fabrics and making the clothes appealing to a modern, global audience. Since then, Recreo’s range of styles has grown – now they design a diverse collection of clothing and accessories in addition to serapes – while staying true to the original spirit. All of Recreo San Miguel’s garments are made locally, by hand, providing economic opportunity and career development for a group of local women artisans, amplifying their positive impact on the local community.
