Lots of goals this weekend in an action packed weekend of Premier League football. Chelsea breezed past a lacklustre West Ham, Spurs survived an early scare to take 3 points against Brentford, whilst Manchester United kept a third clean sheet in a week with a 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park.

On Sunday the points were shared in a exciting game at the Etihad. The lads have plenty to unpick from the 'main event' between Manchester City & Arsenal.

Away from the PGMOL nonsense, Nottingham Forest had a historic win at Anfield, Southampton & Bournemouth both missed crucial penalties that lead to their respective home losses.

Whilst Arsenal came out on top in the North London Derby thanks to a Gabriel header.

20 Premier League games have taken place in the 6 days since we have last recorded as as usual drama aplenty. Manchester United especially were involved into two fantastic games for the neutrals, whilst West Ham picked up 4 points vs Spurs and Wolves.

Everton picked up their first win since December, followed by another points deduction, this time only 2 points. Luton beat Bournemouth and closed the gap to Nottingham Forest after they lost away at Tottenham.

Mr Freddy Bourne returns to Talking Loyal for his second appearance on the show! Last time out we picked our best 11 out of the current Premier League manager & know we are picking the ultimate tallest XI !

Rules are simple:

1) 5 Leagues Stated:

- Premier League

- Bundesliga

- La Liga

- Serie A

- Ligue 1

2) 6’4 and above (according to Wikipedia / transfrmrkt - any credible source)

3) MUST use every league at least once (if a player has played in multiple leagues that counts… for example Zlatan Ibrahimovic counts for all the leagues he played in)

4) Manager MUST be selected. They MUST be 6’4 (as long as they have managed in one of those leagues they count)

5) XI, minimum 3 subs, and pick a Captain

6) Current / Ex players, let your mind run free

European success for West Ham and Man City. The Hammers' 2-1 victory over Fiorentina won them the Europa Conference League, their first trophy in 40 years and David Moyes' first in over 1,000 games as a manager.

Pep Guardiola's side also triumphed over Italian opposition on Saturday night as they beat Inter Milan 1-0 in the Champions League final to complete a historic treble in Turkey.

Three of the Premier League’s top-half contenders were on FA Cup semi-final duty, leaving only eight matches on the weekend calendar: Week 32 of the 2022-23 Premier League season delivered the goods.

Arsenal started off the weekend by further altering the dynamic of the Premier League title chase while also giving a modicum of hope to even the most hardened Southampton supporter.

By the time the weekend was done, the Premier League had seen Newcastle embarrass Tottenham, Liverpool give themselves a slim chance to get back into the top four fight, and West Ham look to end a season-long relegation scrap as they surge nearer to safety.

Arsenal maintained their 5 point gap over Manchester City with a 90+7 minute winner in a dramatic game against Bournemouth.

The first silverware of the season was handed out on Sunday, with Manchester United getting their hands on the Carabao Cup after a convincing 2-0 victory over Newcastle United at Wembley.

Tottenham took advantage of a lacklustre Chelsea team, and strengthened their grip on 4th spot. Wins for West Ham & Leeds, dropped Everton into the bottom three after a poor result at home to Aston Villa.

EP 33 - A Royal Hammering

After a two week break the pod is back!

Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League table after battling back to beat Aston Villa as the title race took another twist with Manchester City held at Nottingham Forest.

Elsewhere, Liverpool resurrected their top-four ambitions with victory at Newcastle and Everton moved out of the bottom three at the expense of Leeds.

Another full-on week of action has raised plenty of talking points. Spurs win again without Conte and Marcus Rashford's ridiculous goalscoring spell continued for Manchester United.

It's all change at Southampton after their defeat by 10-man Wolves secured the termination of Nathan Jones' time in charge at the club after just 94 days last week, but bounce back with a win at Stamford Bridge!

The 2022/23 Premier League season resumed in style with seven Boxing Day matches producing a total of 25 goals following a six-week break for the FIFA World Cup 2022.

Leaders Arsenal continued their good form with a 3-1 turnaround win over West Ham United, the only home victory of the day.

It was the only home victory of Boxing Day and meant for the first time in seven years every match of a seven-fixture matchday featured three or more goals. On the 27th normal service was resumed with comfortable home wins for both Chelsea and Manchester United.

EP 21 - Rashford Runs Riot As Wales Bale Out

Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden capitalised on their starting roles to help England eliminate Wales from the World Cup with a 3-0 win which also secured top spot in Group B with 7 points and set up a last-16 tie with Senegal.

England boss Gareth Southgate had been grilled since the disappointing goalless draw with USA and once again, as against Iran, made several big calls and they came up trumps. Marcus Rashford, selected ahead of Raheem Sterling, scored goals one and three and started the move for goal two. Phil Foden scored and won the free-kick that ultimately broke the deadlock.

England got their World Cup off to the perfect start with a dominating victory over Iran in Group B. Arsenal star Bukayo Saka scored twice as the Three Lions strolled to win at the Khalifa International Stadium. Jude Bellingham and Raheem Sterling also on target as were substitutes Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish.

This was England's biggest win in the opening game of a major tournament and only the second time in competitive tournament history England have scored six.

Defending champions Manchester City remain hot on their heels after beating Leicester, while there were also wins for Tottenham, Manchester United and the ever-impressive Newcastle.

However, it was an unhappy weekend for Liverpool who lost at home to Leeds, and Chelsea were swatted aside by Brighton.

Boring 0-0s, Goal Scoring Vikings, Power Cuts, VAR Decisions & a Man City Defeat... This weekend had it all!

Arsenal extended their run at the top of the league to four points after emerging through a tough test away at Leeds at a ferocious Elland Road.

Manchester City's loss later in the day, showing they still have vulnerabilities even with Erling Haaland among their ranks, laid the blueprint for teams to get at Pep Guardiola's side.

Brentford win with Ivan Toney doing all he can to play himself into Gareth Southgate's Qatar plans.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, deputising in place of Edouard Mendy, took his chance in superb fashion as he produced a series of superb saves to open the door to a regular first team recall.

Another weekend of Premier League action in the books and with 34 goals scored over the ten games.

The league table is beginning to take shape with most sides now having played nine matches and set for a hectic four-week period before the World Cup break comes along.

Manchester City yet again showed it is going to take something special to beat them to the title this year but Arsenal demonstrated they are continuing to improve with a superb win over Liverpool.

Manchester United and Chelsea meanwhile continued to make good progress under their new managers, while Newcastle enjoyed a second thumping win in a row.

Another weekend of Premier League action is in the books with two huge local derbies garnering the majority of the attention.

Arsenal got the better of arch-rivals rivals Tottenham at the Emirates on Saturday before Manchester City hit Manchester United for SIX at the Etihad on Sunday.

The Premier League table is starting to take shape, as the sixth round of fixtures has been completed.

Title favourites Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by strugglers Aston Villa as a tired Liverpool played out a goalless draw with rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby. Spurs remain unbeaten and Arsenal still in top of the table, despite losing to the in-form Manchester United.

The matches were however overshadowed by more VAR controversy once again as the boys breakdown the weekend action in this week’s episode.
