Given that the rumour started on Barn Burner, it's been interesting to see how much noise came out of Mike Commodore's comments on the show. Unfortunately, those hypotheticals didn't do much to lift the mood in the room, as everyone was still notably annoyed by how the Oilers are playing right now. Starting with the 9-1 beatdown from last Saturday, Tyler wanted to talk about the ticket shenanigans Jay dumped on him, which had Tyler negotiating with other fans to move seats so the group could sit together. Given that the rumours about needing a new goalie won't go anywhere, the boys wanted to look at some of the names the team might be interested in. Spoiler: The tight cap situation makes any of the fun names seem improbable until the summer. Needless to say, if the Oilers do get a new goalie at some point in the 2025-26 season, it likely won't be one of the sexy names everyone is hoping for.

There was some Oilers talk today on the podcast as they gave some takes on the team’s lacklustre play, and compared the vibes of a cinderella team like the Blue Jays to a perennial contender like the Oilers.

Are there legitimate reasons to be concerned about the long-term health of this Oilers team? Or is this just their usual early season malaise?

They then talked about the level of shadiness that goes on in professional sports. Wanye thinks that there’s a chance that things are shaped by the higher ups but both Tyler and Chalmers pushed back against that.

The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a look at the Toronto Blue Jays' chances at closing out the World Series on Friday night at the Rogers Centre. Given that the Jays are only one game away from clinching their third World Series title, it's hard not to get completely wrapped up in this run. Even if you're not a hardcore Blue Jays fan who watches every game in the regular season, the hype is taking over the country in a very real way.

Changing gears, the guys dove a little bit into the Nation Vacation, and started with the rally popcorn Baggedmilk bought at the Oilers game in Vancouver. While the rally popcorn was trying to do its thing, Jay noted that Tyler had the job completed before Edmonton actually completed the comeback. From there, Tyler and BM spent the next few minutes thanking the amazing Nation Citizens who joined us on this trip out west.

The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a look ahead at the World Series after Tyler walked into the studio wearing his new hoodie to commemorate the occasion. Not only did everyone want to hear about his experience for Game 7, but they also wanted to know what it was like to sit in a stadium that was going absolutely bananas. As you'll hear, Tyler had plenty of stories from being at Skydome that were very exciting and entirely understandable, which only fuelled everyone's excitement for Friday.

From there, the discussion somehow shifted to cruise ships. How did the podcast get to cruises? No one knows for sure, but the conversation gave Chalmers the chance to talk about how much he loves them. After winding through his honeymoon cruise story, the podcast eventually turned into a discussion about the NBA's betting scandal that broke on Thursday. While this is certainly a very serious situation, the boys still had a bunch of fun talking about the absurdity of the situation.

The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with some Oilers talk after the boys picked up a pair of wins over the Canucks and Rangers. Somehow, talking about those two wins led to a discussion about potential trade targets for Edmonton, even though it's way too early to really even discuss the possibilities. Following the trade talks down the rabbithole, the guys debated about who they would rather have in a trade: Tage Thompson or Ilya Sorokin.

From there, the discussion shifted to the players or opponents we irrationally hate just because they played for an opposing team. Whether it was a former Flame like Robyn Regehr crushing Ales Hemsky to the Dallas Stars running the show during the playoffs in the late 90s, there were plenty of options to choose from, and the reasons for hating them were all over the map. If anything, this exercise was a trip down memory lane and a reminder of how long some of these memories can last.

Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with an array of topics, including the Jays trying to even up the series in Seattle, the Oilers looking for a third consecutive win, Ike Howard's spot in the lineup, and whatever else popped into anyone's mind. Needless to say, the last chunk of the podcast was a classic dose of Real Life because no single topic seemed to last more than a minute or two. Structure? Kinda. Bouncing all over the place? The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a quick recap of Jay's trip to the UK for the Browns game, covering what he got up to despite being away for only 96 hours. From trying haggis for the first time to dabbling with local beers to watching the NFL in a soccer stadium, Jay got a lot of life done in a very short amount of time. 

From there, the discussion shifted to the Oilers' season opener, which was an incredibly frustrating result given how well the boys started the game. Starting with a look at the new guys, Chalmers admitted that he didn't know who some of the new guys were, which led to the boys dunking on him repeatedly. Despite hearing many of these names multiple times, 

Finally, the guys walked through a new segment called Beef of the Week where the boys vented their frustrations with some news stories from the past week. Whether it's pop culture, the Oilers not acknowledging the Western Conference Champions banner, to the Blue Jays beating the Yankees in their first-ever playoff matchup, the end of this week's podcast was all over the map.

The guys started the Thursday episode of Real Life with a discussion about the Oilers' pre-season and how it's such a grind to get through these eight games when games that matter are right around the corner. The good news is that there's only one tune-up game left to slog through until the regular season begins, and that means we're so close to getting going for real. Talking about the season led the guys to discuss Kirill Kaprizov's contract extension and whether it affects Connor McDavid's negotiations. 

Taking a hard turn, Tyler asked the boys which animal they would choose to speak with if they could somehow speak the same language. While this may have been a throwaway comment by Tyler, the boys took the question way more seriously than he probably expected. From talking to birds to negotiating with wasps and mosquitoes, what seemed like a throwaway topic ended up going on way longer than anyone probably expected. 

Finally, the guys walked through a new segment called Beef of the Week where they vented their frustrations for a couple of minutes to let it all out. From complaining about TV to Chalmers' love of tomahawk steaks, the first go at this new idea went better than initially expected. The real question, however, is whether or not the fellas can actually stick to coming up with something every week instead of letting the bit slide as they always seem to do.

The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life with a discussion about a variety of random topics, including the COVID-19 hockey bubble and weird memories from that period in time. Needless to say, talking about sports during COVID times almost feels alien, given how everything is long back to normal less than five years later. Talking sports led Tyler to talk about his Saturday at the Elks game, and how it was an electric finish for both the team and his wallet.

Changing gears, the guys walked through their squad ride bet for the Ryder Cup and how the weekend was not only entertaining but also profitable. The guys also discussed the player feedback after the tournament was done, and whether the crowd was getting too carried away with their chirps and barbs for the European players. Part of the discussion also centred on whether the noise was worse because the tournament took place in New York, an area known for its aggressive fans, even at the best of times.

As you'll hear, the topics move all over the map when the squad is together, and the first 15 minutes of Thursday's podcast covered a lot of ground. From Big Brother being awful to when Tyler plans for having kids, there was a long run of topics that were all over the map.

Changing gears, Baggedmilk recapped his ultimate sports weekend in Minneapolis and walked through the experience of going to a high school football game, a Twins doubleheader, and the Vikings' beatdown over the Bengals on Sunday afternoon. For a fan of live sports, watching that many sports in a span of three days was as good as it gets. The best part of doing a sports weekend like that is how there was so much going on, and a lot of fun to be had. 

Finally, the guys walked through some betting talk ahead of the Ryder Cup. Tyler, Jay, and Chalmers are all picking a horse to bet on for the weekend, and they could not be more excited about the tournament. From there, Chalmers gave his keys to coaching minor hockey and offered some advice on how to get your team into tournaments before they fill up.

From there, they talked about a couple of Netflix documentaries that they’re working through. Wayne gave a not so great review of the Charlie Scheen doc while Chalmers sold the group of the Dallas Cowboys doc. That also led to some talk about wild minor league sports promotions.

They also spent some time talking baseball with the playoffs right around te corner, who they’re cheering for in the Ryder Cup, flag football at the Olympics and all the new CFL changes that are coming.

As you'll hear, there are 40 chairs at Nation HQ, and that is way too many for our man, even though Baggedmilk passionately disagrees with him. Yet, as the conversation continued, the guys seemed to find a solution that would both rid the office of some of the useless chairs while not liquidating the office of potential seating options. 

Changing gears, Liam also walked through his quarterback betting rankings after a tough run of betting sank his weekend. As you'll hear, Liam's colour-coded quarterback system is based mainly on vibes and sometimes on the total body of work. While the boys were trying to poke holes in his system, you have to give Liam credit for sticking to his guns and defending his system. The real question will be how his system pays him back over the course of the season, provided he's sticking to it. 

Finally, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics, including a quick recap of Tyler's trip to Toronto to watch the Blue Jays, the Oilers vs Flames rookie weekend, and a random trip through southern geography, as Jay described where he'd like to live in the states if he was forced to move down south. There are so many sports stories to be excited about, and the guys kicked off the podcast with a conversation about Shadeur Sanders' jersey being a top seller despite not even being the starting QB in Cleveland. Talking about jerseys led the boys to talk about which unis they would buy if they were in the market for a new one. 

Changing gears, the guys looked at the Connor McDavid contract situation and wondered whether or not these delays are tied to Kirill Kaprisov's stalemate in Minnesota. Yesterday, it was reported that the Wild star turned down a $16 million AAV over eight years, which led to a conversation about whether these two contracts are linked. If Kaprisov is turning down that much smoke, does that mean that Connor McDavid is waiting to see where he lands before signing his own extension?

Finally, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics, including Coldplay being set to pass Taylor Swift's tour gross earnings, Connor Brown spilling the Pink Pony Club details, the Real Life Fantasy Football League, and the new Charlie Sheen documentary that just got loaded to Netflix. The squad may have been shorthanded this week, but that didn't stop them from yammering on about anything and everything for an hour.

The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life with a discussion about the Oilersnation Open that kicks off Friday morning at Millwoods Golf Club, and how everyone is so excited to get going on the seventh annual tourney in support of Gregor's Grads. Not only are the boys to get out on the course, but they're also excited about having everyone get together for what is undoubtedly one of the best dates on our calendar.

Changing gears, the guys recapped the Real Life fishing derby that happened on Tuesday after a few of the boys took on the crew from Sherwood Power Sports and Marine. As you'll hear, the boys not only smoked the Sherwood Power Sports team in the head-to-head tournament, but it also gave Tyler a first-hand look at how great fishing can be. While he did say he probably won't fish again, he did admit that he would like to go again if someone forced the issue.

While the boys don't really know what to expect from the derby, the boys are excited to get out on the boat and do what they can to beat our friends at Sherwood Ford. As you'll hear, Chalmers was full of helpful advice for Tyler, who will be making his fishing debut. 

Shifting gears, Tyler went on a rant about beer league hockey after the cost for playing went up to $13,500 in his league for the 2025-26 season. As you'll hear, it works out to $855 per player, which bothers Tyler because the annual increases seem to get bigger year over year. While beer league is a favourite Tyler pastime, having to chase his teammates for the cash is making his weekly games a little less fun.

The guys started the Thursday episode of Real Life with a conversation about Tyler's Ace Race that happened on Monday, and how it was a fantastic day at Cattail Crossing despite not achieving the goal. Even though Tyler didn't drain his hole-in-one, there's absolutely no doubt that it was a tremendous day of content that only happened because he was such a good sport. It was also interesting to hear Tyler's perspective on the day because even getting to the golf course on Monday wasn't exactly smooth.

Walking through the day, it was interesting to hear Tyler give his version of what happened and what adjustments he would make before the rematch. From taking more breaks to slowing down his swings between balls, there are more versions of this challenge that will happen in the future. As you'll hear, this first attempt for Tyler to hit a hole-in-one sets the table for an upgraded revenge tour for the next go around, and our boy's competitive spirit will likely lead him back to the tee box in the near future. 

Finally, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a look ahead at the Oilersnation Open, and whether the 18 hours of golf on Monday will affect Tyler's play on tourney day. Somehow talking about the ONO led to an argument about Tyler's golf handicap after the truth came out that Chalmers doesn't believe his number is real or not. Needless to say, this was a very golf heavy episode of the podcast, and one that could spawn another round of inter-podcast challenges.

The guys started the Thursday episode of Real Life with a conversation with Chalmers about why he hasn't been on the podcast for the last few weeks. As it turns out, moving the studio from upstairs back to the primary office was a major sticking point for Chalmers because it raised the barrier to entry for him to have a podcast cocktail. Somehow, talking about the studio move led to a conversation about buying an industrial ice maker for your residence. Too much? Good living?

Changing gears, the boys spoke about buying and selling items on Facebook Marketplace. While Baggedmilk and Chalmers have never moved any units on Facebook, producer Eli walked the boys through how he's currently selling his car on the platform. Trying to help Eli move his car, the guys started working through the details on his vehicle to see if the fellas can drum up more clicks heading to his car ad. 

Finally, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a story from Wanye about when he and Jay got in a car accident on the QE2 back in the day. Thankfully, the boys were all okay despite the severity of the accident, but the story was jarring to hear for the first time. Chalmers also talked about his weekend at the Pigeon Lake Music Festival, and how it was a wonderful night of nostalgia and music.

Kicking off the Monday episode of the show Eli talked about his favourite 4 days of the entire summer (which is really saying something after we went to the cup final again this year) the Edmonton Folk Festival! Wanye and Eli were blown away by the roots on Saturday and quickly transitioned into discussing their other favourite Edmonton Festivals.

Did you know that Edmonton has the world's biggest Milk Jug? Neither did any of us, but apparently Edmonton has a whole lineup of world's largest objects...

From there the fellas talked about he best coming of age movies, and who the "Actor of the summer" is for this year. Pedro pascal may be running away with the yearly title.

Kicking off the podcast The boys discussed Eli's birthday plans of kicking back and listening to some music with friends at folk fest. His one wish was for a dry weekend which was then promptly followed by a downpour of rain out the window.

From there, Wanye called Drake a liar after finding out that Drake does not have more number one hits than The Beatles. His heart was broken, he never thought Drake would lie to him.

Moving along, Liam and Eli shared their love for movies and Eli's movie money saving technique that he has now put Liam on to.

As you'll hear, despite his wedding being in only two days, Tyler still has plenty of things to do before the big day. That led to a discussion about the scratch tickets Tyler will be giving out to all attendees, and how Baggedmilk claims he wouldn't give the couple a cut if he wins big.

Changing gears, Chalmers wanted to talk about Tyler's hole-in-one challenge. Chalmers has been playing a ton of golf lately, and he's very concerned about Yaremchuk's ability to achieve his goal based on an exhaustive list of variables. From the weather to fatigue to frustration, there is a list of items that need to be checked off if he has any chance of draining one. Somehow, talking about golf led to a discussion about social media algorithms not making any sense. Even when you don't think you're interested in things, sometimes the timeline serves up some wild stuff that locks you in. 

Finally, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a discussion about K-Days and how Chalmers was concerned about sending his kids on their own, given some of the mayhem you see on social media. Thankfully, the boys had a great time and an uneventful day, but having social media often showing the worst of us leads to these difficult decisions.

The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life with Tyler venting about his trip to A&W and not having ketchup included in his order. As you'll hear, our boy is very passionate about his fries, and not having the requested ketchup included in the bag was enough to ruin his afternoon. Too much? Probably, but Tyler's annoyance did lead to another round of talking about the Coldplay concert incident.

Changing gears, Tyler then spoke about the putting green he built over the weekend, and how wedding guests will use it to earn more drink tickets. With drinks only $2 each, the idea of doubling your number of drink tickets seems unnecessary, but that doesn't mean everyone won't still have a good time anyway. Sticking with the wedding theme, the guys spent a few minutes discussing how the team will be congregating in Italy for Leon Draisaitl's wedding, and how everyone who is already there looks so relaxed and colour-coordinated ahead of the big day.

Changing gears, Wanye wanted to talk about Reality TV and a very special episode of Hoarders that lives rent-free in his mind. That led the guys to wonder if there is anything in their lives they love so much that could turn into an unreasonable obsession. As you'll hear, everyone on the podcast is pretty boring apart from Wanye trying to adopt an all-day coffee routine that he heard a billionaire does daily.

From there, Eli talked about his time on the Ferris wheel at K-Days, after spending over 20+ hours there with Chris Sheetz as he pushed to set the world record for the most time cruising around. After spending so much time spinning around, Eli had a bunch of funny stories from his time cruising around for the record attempt. That said, Eli also broke the news that not every record attempt is what we think it is.

The guys kicked off the Monday podcast with yet another discussion about the CEO who got busted at the Coldplay concert, and how the Internet just won't let the story die. Speaking of not letting things die, the guys then shifted the conversation to Happy Gilmore 2. With the movie slated to hit Netflix this week, the guys wondered how good this movie will be, or if Adam Sandler would have been better off leaving Happy Gilmore alone.

Changing gears, Chalmers wanted to talk about podcasts. After finding a Lonely Island podcast where they discuss their best digital shorts of all time, the guys wondered how long it will be before the sporting world follows suit. The point being that there is a real void in the sports space, and the opportunity to create this kind of evergreen content could be huge for whoever can pull it off. Could this be a task for the Nation to handle? Likely yes.

Getting back to the Coldplay cheating scandal, the guys spoke about the memes surrounding the incident and how they've turned from being very fun to common pop culture in a snap. After having a night of ridiculous jokes hitting the Internet, it didn't take long for the mainstream to jump on board with including the Coldplay moment in their marketing. Put another, the jokes went from being funny to too cute in a real hurry.

Finally, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a discussion about Tyler's hole-in-one challenge after he went out to Cattail Crossing to get a look at what he's up against. From pin location to which club he should use, the boys walked through the details of the challenge as a means of trying to help Tyler complete the challenge.

Changing gears, the guys looked at the viral Coldplay moment that took over the Internet this week, and how cheating on your missus in a public forum like that isn't the brightest idea. Seeing as the video of the couple's forbidden caress is all over the web, the guys came up with some ideas on how you can spend time with your mistress without getting caught. Of course, all of these tips and advice were just for show and the boys on the Real Life Podcast would never encourage such behaviour.

Finally, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a look ahead at the Oilersnation Open, and how the bidding has opened to play with Jay and Chalmers or Tyler and Pat Puff. While Tyler admitted that Jay and Chalmers are better golfers, the guys wondered what kind of cheating would be necessary for the boys to avenge last year's loss. The guys kicked off the Monday podcast with a discussion about construction in the city after Chalmers was late for the show because he was stuck in traffic. While being trapped at 1:30 PM on a Monday seems unlikely, it did lead to an interesting conversation about how navigating the city is almost impossible at this point. Will the construction be done by the end of summer? Unlikely. 

Changing topics, the guys discussed some of the changes the Oilers have made over the last week, including the trade for Isaac Howard and the swapping out of a handful of coaches. Starting with the Ice Man, the guys wanted to know how excited everyone is allowed to get about a hotshot prospect who has yet to play even a shift of NHL hockey. Despite winning the Hobey Baker Trophy, there is concern that he got the job done in his draft +2 season, which is unlike some of the winners who came before him.

From there, the guys recapped Baggedmilk's weekend in Seattle and Chalmers' dislike of the new Mission Impossible movie because the villain wasn't evil enough. Talking about movies and TV led the guys to discuss the first week of Big Brother, even though Chalmers was the only one who had watched the first couple of episodes. If you're one of the listeners who hates when the boys talk BB, then this is your warning that the Big Brother talk will be kicking off shortly. 

Finally, the guys confirmed a location and date for Tyler's hole-in-one challenge. Thanks to the folks at Cattail Crossing, Tyler will be teeing off on August 18th to see if he's able to get the job done. While Tyler remains confident that he can get the job done, the conversation turned to the logistical side of the challenge and how it's all going to work so people at home can join in on the action.

That led to some more talk about Tyler’s hole in one challenge and the likelihood of him accomplishing the feat. They then brought in Eli who accomplished a big feat of his own this past week. He successfully completed the 9 beers and 9 hot dogs in 9 innings challenge at a Riverhawks game and lived to tell the tale. He talked about how much of a grind it was and how he felt in the hours afterwards.

From there, Chalmers told the story about his week with his new found family from overseas. The guys also put together their list of the top ten things to do in the city of Edmonton, and put out a call for some suggestions.

They wrapped up with a little bit of talk about the red hot Toronto Blue Jays, who have won eight games in a row. They have Tyler feeling a certain type of way and Chalmers asked some introductory questions as he looks get back on the baseball bandwagon.

The guys started the podcast with a conversation about the strange NHL Draft that happened on Friday without the teams being in attendance, while the rest of the players and media were still there. Not only was the first round incredibly boring and awkward, but the fact that the two days weren't any faster than normal was truly disappointing. 

Next up, the guys discussed the new CFL collaboration with OVO and how partnering with Drake is a great way to create some buzz in a league that desperately needs attention. The OVO/CFL collaboration allowed Tyler and Bagged Milk to discuss their price limit for buying clothes. When OVO collaborated with the NHL, the cost of hoodies was astronomical, which suggests the same will likely be true for this new CFL merchandise. 

The next topic was an examination of TikTok algorithms, specifically focusing on the types of content that occupied the boys' feeds. From landscaping to sports science to the random chaos that sometimes fills the void, the remarkable thing about TikTok is how the platform seems to capture people's attention, even when the videos are not their typical interests. 

Finally, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a recap of the Tyler golf challenge and how there are plenty of people on Twitter who don't believe he has a chance. While Tyler feels confident that he can get the job done — Baggedmilk agrees with him — he does need to think about the challenge tactically if he doesn't want to gas himself out before the job is done.

The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life by discussing theories about getting struck by lightning. While certainly improbable, the boys offered Tyler a few different scenarios about what it would take from him to accept a lightning strike. Talking golf then led to a discussion about equipment costs in sports, and how much a person can spend on marginal upgrades in their game. 

From there, Jay and Baggedmilk recapped their trip to Toronto, describing it as an eventful one, complete with meetings, hard work, and a pair of sweeping power outages. From some fun meetings with the crew at La Poche Bleue to hearing NHL stories from Max Lapierre to sweating through multiple shirts on a daily basis, it was a quick trip to Toronto that was as eventful as it was sweaty. Needless to say, it was 48 eventful hours on the road for the boys. 

Finally, the podcast wrapped with a story of Jay finally getting his wish of missing out on Tyler's bachelor party after Little Brick's 10th anniversary events got in the way. As you'll hear, the conversation is about whether Jay should still go for a shortened weekend or if he should give up his spot to Tyler's dad. In the end, Jay's media responsibilities ended up getting in the way, and the result is that Ross has been given the green light to replace him.

They did then get into some good hockey talk as Chalmers wanted to give his thoughts on the Florida Panthers Stanley Cup celebration and whether or not they’ve crossed the line with some of the things that have been said at their parties. Tyler talked about how this type of behaviour could have been expected from a team winning their first Stanley Cup. They also talked about the nauseating rumours that continue to float around regarding Connor McDavid’s future in Edmonton.

They wrapped up by going to some other spots in the sports world, like Game 7 of the NBA Finals, and ranked the “championship moments” in each of the four major North American sports leagues. Chalmers also had some golf takes which led to Tyler telling a heartbreaking story about his round from the weekend. The guys started the Thursday episode of Real Life with a discussion about what went wrong with the Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final, and how it wasn't nearly as close this year as it was the previous year. As much as it's painful to admit, the Panthers were the better team throughout the series, and it wasn't exactly surprising to see Florida lock down a second straight Cup win. They also discussed the Connor McDavid press conference, and how there are so many people overthinking his comments that he wants to do what's best for his family.

Changing gears, Wanye wanted to know if travelling back to Florida for the second straight SCF gave the boys some appreciation for the travel schedule pro athletes have to deal with. While there's no doubt that travelling on a private jet is not the same as slogging through commercial flights, the reality is that the late nights and being away from home cannot be easy. Either way, there's no doubt that flying across the continent is a slog regardless of how you get there. 

Finally, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with some beef between Tyler and Jay after the latter blamed the Cup loss on Evan Bouchard and Stuart Skinner. As you'll hear, the boys got spicy about two key players and whether or not they should be part of the solution going forward. The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life mourning the loss of Chalmers cowboy hat. The hat has now paved its own path in life and perhaps will find its way to a new oilers fan who will give it a lovely new home. RIP.

Moving along, the boys discussed their 5 day adventure in Florida. We're still unsure if they did more swimming in the pool or actual work. However, The trip was great and the Oilers managed to come through in game 4 and even up the series 2-2.

If there's one thing we have learned from watching the Oilers over the past 2 cup runs is that they love a dramatic finish, which is exactly why the boys are confident in the teams ability to drag the panthers back to our city for game 7.

The guys kicked off the website with a conversation about Game 5 against the Dallas Stars, and how everyone is feeling about the Oilers having another chance to close out the Western Conference Final. As much as everyone is excited about the Oilers' chances to get through to the final, no one is willing to disrespect the Stars, nor believe Dallas is going to be an easy out. The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life by welcoming Justin from Jacksonville to the podcast and discussing how a guy from Florida became an Oilers fan despite two teams being in his backyard. Starting in the 2018-19 season, Justin wanted to commit to an NHL team but didn't want to jump on a bandwagon, so he landed on the Oilers after working through some internal metrics that made sense.

Diving into his first trip to Edmonton, Justin talked about how he ended up in the city earlier than expected because Jay promised him a ticket for Game 3 if he could get in on time. After changing his flights to get in a night early, Justin soaked up as much of Edmonton as he could with only a handful of hours before his first experience at Rogers Place. Getting into the game itself, Justin talked about how incredible the experience was to be at Rogers Place during the playoffs after watching it on TV for so many years.

Looking at the game itself, the boys discussed the Oilers' unbelievable Game 3 result and how it was actually the Stars' best game of the series despite losing by five goals. Starting with Stuart Skinner's brilliance between the pipes, the goalie gave the Oilers a chance to win despite being shelled through most of the second period. From a Stars perspective, how can they not be gripping the stick right now with the way they're being stonewalled at every turn.

Finally, Justin wrapped up his time on the podcast by giving the boys some gifts that he carried with him all the way from Jacksonville. The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a discussion about the playoffs and how Jay is taking a loyal Oilers fan from Jacksonville to Game 3 on Sunday. The problem with their theory, of course, is that Padon doesn't drink. Not only does he not drink alcohol, but the guy was wearing shorts and didn't have a bag of any type that would allow him even to try. Pivoting once again, Chalmers wanted to talk about banana cream pies after he crushed one over the weekend from Duchess Bake Shop. That led to a discussion about baking in general, including everyone's love of fresh bread with butter.

The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life by discussing the Oilers' making it through Game 1 with one of their more complete postseason games so far. Given that everyone expected Vegas to blow them out, especially after dropping two goals early, watching the boys come roaring back over the final 50 minutes was every shade of fun. The question on everyone's mind after a win like that is whether the Oilers can keep the train rolling in Game 2. 

Taking a hard pivot from the Oilers talk, the boys discussed the new pope getting announced earlier Thursday afternoon. Given that he will be known as Pope Leo, is that a good omen for our beloved Leon Draisaitl? The betting boys on the podcast certainly think so. Sticking with the papal talk, Wanye then told a story from when he was living in Mexico and had the airport shut down when the former pope landed in Mexico City.

The boys were shorthanded for the Monday episode of Real Life, but Tyler, Chalmers, and Baggedmilk kicked off the podcast with a recap of their first round win over the Los Angeles Kings. While many of the pundits and experts felt this was the Kings' year to beat the Oilers finally, what actually happened was a fantastic display of resilience by an Edmonton crew that would not quit. As a result, the Kings announced that they've parted ways with Rob Blake as the team's GM only days after a fourth consecutive first-round exit.

Looking ahead at the Vegas Golden Knights, Tyler walked the boys through what to expect from their second round matchup vs. the Vegas Golden Knights. While there's little doubt the Golden Knights are a fantastic hockey club, Tyler also singled out some areas where the Oilers could have an advantage over the team that knocked them out of the playoffs two years ago. Changing gears, the guys then looked back at the two Game 7s that happened over the weekend, and how both games had the wildest endings you could ever hope to see.

The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics, including Jay's Australian stock pact with Dooks, communication via random DMs, and anything else that happened to be on everyone's mind. Talking about social media made the guys wonder if it would be fun to live on a cruise ship. As you'll hear, the start of the Thursday episode of Real Life was all over the map.

Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, the guys looked ahead at Game 6 and what the team needs to do to close out this series. After earning the chance to close out a fourth consecutive first-round win over the Kings, the Oilers must come up with their best game of the series to punch their way through to the next round. From playoff Mattis Janmark coming through in the clutch to Evan Bouchard's redemption, to Calvin Pickard locking things down, there are plenty of reasons to be bullish about the team's chances.

Looking around the rest of the NHL, the guys discussed the rest of the series and how the storylines from the first round continue to make this the best round of the playoffs. They then discussed what's happening around the city, and now that cell phones are in everybody's hand, the ability to experience a playoff run becomes so much easier. The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life by looking at the Oilers' miraculous comeback in their first-round series against the Los Angeles Kings. While neither Games 3 nor 4 were masterpieces by Edmonton, the resilience they showed to come back on both nights was as extraordinary as it was concerning that they could keep doing it. As much as the comebacks were thrilling, wouldn't it be nice to have the boys find an early lead and be able to keep it for 60 minutes?

Diving into the Game 4 win, the guys discussed the Oilers' comeback win and how Sunday's victory was as electric as it gets in the post-season. Starting with the way the Oilers got better as the game wore on, the guys wondered why it takes the boys being down by a goal or more before they're able to get themselves going.

Changing gears, the guys looked at the NFL draft from this past weekend, and how the Cleveland Browns snagged Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round even though some people — his old man, specifically — were hyping him up as a top prospect. Since Jay is a massive Browns fan, everyone wanted to know whether or not he'd be purchasing a new jersey to celebrate his team's new toy. From there, Chalmers also let the boys know about a prank call involving Sanders and how the kid's dad ended up taking shrapnel as a result.

The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a conversation about anything other than the Edmonton Oilers. Instead, Chalmers ranted about The Last of Us after Wednesday's episode dropped a bombshell on viewers that our man did not see coming. Given that no one else on the podcast watches the show, the conversation didn't last more than a few seconds. If you're a fan of the show, however, you probably know what Chalmers was talking about.

Changing gears, the boys got a second rant from Chalmers about the state of the Oilers. After dropping Game 2 more disappointingly than the first game, it was incredibly frustrating to watch a veteran team like this battle the details of their game as much as they are. Whether you're concerned with the goaltending, the defensive coverage, the lack of offence, or all of the above, there's little doubt that there are countless issues the Oilers need to sort out if they have any hope of getting back in the series.

On a positive note, Tyler offered a few reasons why Oilers fans should be hopeful. As good as the Kings are at Crypto.com Arena, they are equally bad as the away team, which could give Edmonton an avenue to chip away at the deficit. As much as hoping for the best is part of the Oilersnation brand — Hope Will Never Die after all — it can be a battle when the team looks as down as they are right now, but the mission for Friday is to bring the good vibes anyway.

Next up on the docket was a story about Chalmers running over to Wanye's house this morning to fix his running toilet. If you remember, Chalmers had a situation in one of his rentals where a running toilet resulted in a $3800 water bill, so the trauma from that story still lives rent-free in his mind. As you'll hear, Wanye Manor is as much a place to hold inventory for his projects as it is a place for him to live, in addition to having a broken toilet that is basically unfixable.

The guys kicked off the Monday episode of Real Life with an array of random topics, including everyone's anticipation of the Oilers' playoff run and Rory McIlroy's Masters win from Sunday. To assess the Oilers' situation, the guys started by discussing Mattias Ekholm's season-ending injury and how that is a massive blow to Edmonton's playoff aspirations. No matter how you slice it, that is an enormous loss for an Edmonton team that has been questionable defensively all season. 

Sticking with the NHL, the guys discussed some of the playoff races that are still happening, with only a few games left in the schedule, including Calgary's path to the playoffs if they keep winning. As you'll hear, there are plenty of storylines to follow during this last week of the regular season, and it will be fascinating to see how everything shakes out. The only problem with the conversation is that there was a lot of math involved, so you'll want to sharpen your pencil and bring your calculators.

The guys started the Monday episode by discussing Trent Frederic's ankle injury again against the L.A. Kings on Saturday afternoon. Despite playing only 7:10 in TOI, Frederic re-injured his ankle and will now miss the rest of the regular season, with the goal of returning to the playoffs. The guys started the Thursday episode of Real Life with a discussion about Chalmers ignoring the boys regarding the March 18th Oilers game despite being invited by both Baggedmilk and Tyler. For some reason, Chalmers claims he did not notice the missed phone calls or messages but wanted to thank the boys for the gesture anyway.

Changing gears, the podcast got derailed by the What Chaos boys after DJ Bean lost his wallet in the podcast studio. After a few minutes of chaos — pardon the pun — DJ found his wallet, and the boys left the studio. What no one expected, however, is that Chalmers used the opportunity to air out a six-year-old beef he has with Pete Blackburn allegedly stealing one of his tweets. As you'll hear, Chalmers may have an argument about his stolen tweet, but the real question is how Pete will respond.

Sticking with the topic of fighting, the guys walked through some old fighting stories from when they were younger and how it's incredible that no one had camera phones in those days. Needless to say, if there is a benefit to being older, it has to be that most of our childhood was not captured on social media. Thankfully, those insane memories are gone forever. 

Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, the guys walked through Wednesday's game against the Dallas Stars and how it was an exciting night at Rogers Place even though the team couldn't complete the comeback. Despite a horrible run of luck, injuries, and strong goaltending by Jake Oettinger, the game was all over the map, from excitement to heartbreaking. Then again, if you've been an Oilers fan for any length of time, these down periods feel almost like home.

Tyler wanted to start the Monday episode of Real Life with a conversation about Jay reusing his coffee cup for water. Somehow, Jay's reusing his coffee cup led to a lengthy discussion about coffee vs. energy drinks and how Nation HQ has a pretty equal split of employees who consume one or the other.

Wanye shifted the conversation to the Moose Jaw Warriors after the team's season is already winding down after winning the league championship last season. If anything, seeing Moose Jaw struggle the season after spending all of their draft capital for the change to build a one-year winner should be a reminder of what can happen when you go all-in so aggressively.

Monday afternoon means a new episode of the Real Life podcast is recorded, edited, and ready to kick off your week. On today's podcast, the guys discussed Jay and Baggedmilk's trip to Toronto, the Oilers winning their last two games in New York, the new Ice District development, and much more.

The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life by recapping Jay and Baggedmilk's trips to Toronto. They explained that the trips were mostly filled with meetings and complaints about traffic. While it's always nice to see fellow staffers in Toronto, it's also nice to get back to Edmonton and out of the hustle and bustle.

Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, Jay expressed his concerns about the Colorado Avalanche being an absolute wagon. Given that the Avalanche's Rantanen trade has seemingly worked out well, does that mean all roads in the Western Conference run through Colorado? On the Oilers front, the guys wondered if the boys were back after their win over the Rangers, which was one of their best games since the 4 Nations break.

Changing gears, the guys discussed the new downtown development plan that the city recently greenlit and how the plan to bring more items to the Ice District will transform downtown Edmonton. From the event park to the future housing projects, there's little doubt that Daryl Katz's plan to revitalize the arena district is continuing to come to fruition. While we don't know the dates when the projects will be ready, the squad is still excited about what the city will look like in the near future.

Finally, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics, including the favour Tyler is doing for Jay, the PGA Players Championship, another rant from Chalmers about youth sports, and anything that popped into everyone's mind. After that, they continued their trip around the sports world as Chalmers wanted an explanation on the Vladimir Guerrero Jr. contract situation. Tyler talked about how things have gotten as ugly as they have, why this all happening now with just a few weeks until the regular season, and why this season is already looking like a lose-lose for the Blue Jays.

They wrapped up the pod with a little bit of talk about the Oilers as they get set for tonight’s game against the Devils. The vibes are off right now with the Oilers and the guys talked about whether or not this team is going to figure things out down the stretch. Tyler says that they have the ability to flip the switch down the stretch whereas Chalmers and Wanye weren’t as optimistic.

Tyler kicked off the Monday episode of Real Life with a story from the weekend. Tyler was out and about after the trade deadline on Friday and had someone come up to him to say that he's an idiot right to his face. As you'll hear, Tyler often deals with keyboard warriors and is used to chirps on X/Twitter, but to have someone say something to his face was a new experience for our boy.

From there, the guys offered their first impressions about the Oilers' deadline pickups. Starting with Jake Walman's game against the Stars, how could you not love the game he had on Saturday night against the Dallas Stars? From the long-bomb pass to Zach Hyman to his monstrous hit on Mikko Rantanen, it was hard not to be enamoured by Walman's first game in blue and orange. Even though it's only been a game, the guys are excited to see how Walman develops with the team once he gets comfortable.

Sticking with the trade deadline, Jay and Tyler argued for the next ten minutes about whether the Oilers did enough. As you'll hear, the boys clearly don't agree that Edmonton could have done more, and it was entertaining for the other boys on the show to sit and listen to the chaos. While no one wants mom and dad to fight, the disagreement did lead to an interesting few minutes of podcast tension.

The guys started the Thursday episode of the podcast with a conversation about the NHL trade deadline and how no one really knows what to expect from the league's annual swap n' shop. With plenty of trades already happening in the days and weeks leading up to the deadline, it will be interesting to see how much movement actually happens on the last trading day. Will the Oilers be active, or will it disappoint the fanbase?

Changing gears, the guys discussed Jay's vacation to Paris and how he did not waste an opportunity to enjoy all the delicious food he encountered. Chalmers called him out for his unsanctioned weigh-in before he left and said his win shouldn't count as a result. Everyone weighed in for an official marker, and Jay gained six pounds while away. So what does that mean for the weight loss challenge? No one can be sure.

Sticking with the food talk, Chalmers went on a classic rant about restaurant menus in other languages because he constantly has to Google what everything is. As you'll hear, he was incredibly spicy about his trip to an Italian restaurant, and it was hilarious to hear him melt down about menus at fancy establishments. No one else in the room seems to have the same issue, but that didn't stop Chalmers from voicing his opinion on the issue.

Chalmers kicked off the Monday episode of Real Life with a story about falling on the ice after the melt in Edmonton has resulted in some of the slipperiest sidewalks you can imagine. As it turns out, Chalmers isn't the only one to wipe out lately, as Baggedmilk revealed that he also took a spill this past week while walking his dog. Needless to say, reminding people to be careful out there when you're walking around.

Turning the podcast to the Oilers, Tyler quizzed Chalmers on how much he's been paying attention to the news ahead of the NHL trade deadline. As you likely suspected, Chalmers hasn't really been paying attention all that much, but did hear about the recent Evander Kane news about wanting to come back to prove he's still got it. Given the Oilers' cap limitations, this latest Kane news isn't likely to be overly popular around these parts.

Changing gears, Chalmers brought Tyler up to date with the Real Life weight loss challenge shenanigans, and how the boys still don't feel as though they should pay him considering his winning weight was not at a sanctioned weigh-in. With Jay on his way back from France as the podcast was recording, it will be fascinating to hear his side of the story and whether he think his win is legitimate.

Finally, the fellas wrapped up the Monday podcast with an array of topics, including wallet innovation, getting ID'd at restaurants, men's league showers, and whether anyone cares about St. Patricks Day. The guys started off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a conversation about why Tyler still leaves his location on despite none of the other guys sharing theirs. Somehow, talking about Tyler being sick at home led to Chalmers going on an epic rant about Jay's win in the weight-loss challenge. As you'll hear, the way by which Jay revealed that he had lost 20 pounds over a full day before the sanctioned weigh-ins.

Changing gears, Wanye told a story from one of his dreams, in which Tyler had a mini-version of himself after seeing him appear on CBC in an interview. That led to a discussion about the heat Wayne Gretzky is taking in Canada for his association with the US president. Regardless of your opinion on what's happening with this situation, there's little doubt that we are living in one of the wildest timelines imaginable.

The conversation then moved into a run of conspiracy theories that revolved around fake news and A.I. that seem to grab hold on social media these days, and how damaging those situations can be. While it's fun to use A.I. to make funny images, videos, and whatever else is going on, there's also a very dark segment of users that are using these tools for harm and shenanigans. So what's the answer to the problem? Only time will tell.

Finally, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a second rant from Chalmers after his kids are at home because of P.D. days at their school, which seem to be a running concern in their household. The guys then finished off with some golf talk after the new season of Full Swing was loaded up to Netflix this past week, and how well the producers of that show have done to highlight the sport.

He talked about the Canada vs. USA final, driving to Boston through a snowstorm, and took listeners behind the scenes on what it was like to put on live shows from the event. If you thought it was going to be one of those situations where everything ran smoothly, you will be pleasantly surprised at how things tend to go sideways.

Jay, Tyler, and Baggedmilk are in Montreal for the 4 Nations Face-Off and they kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life by recapping their experience from the Canada vs. Sweden game on Wednesday night. Starting with a recap of the Bell Centre, the guys gave their take on what was like to watch a game in that arena.

Getting to the game itself, the guys spoke about how the excitement from the evening really ramping up the overall vibes of the tournament.

For anyone who was on the fence about the tourney, seeing the players give it their all really pulled the fans into the game. By the time the game went to overtime, the arena was brimming with excitement, and it was impossible not to get wrapped up in the moment. 

Changing gears, Jay then told the story of sitting next to Ken Holland on the plane to Montreal, and how they ended up becoming fast friends as the flight progressed. The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life by discussing the Super Bowl, which was one of the more boring finals we've seen in the NFL in some time. Seeing as the game was basically over after the second quarter, the guys talked about how easily they were distracted down the stretch. Their discussion of the Super Bowl led them to discuss their betting sheets and how the Kendrick Lamar halftime show could be the end of Drake. 

Changing gears, Wanye wanted to talk about the rumours surrounding the Dallas Mavericks and how the Luka Doncic trade could be part of a higher conspiracy. If you follow the rabbit hole down far enough, you'll see theories about the state of Texas wanting a casino to be built and how that could tie to the Mavericks being bad. Sticking with basketball, the guys also talked about Jimmy Butler getting traded to Golden State and signing a new deal for $121 million. 

Getting back to the Oilers, the guys looked ahead to the trade deadline and offered their thoughts on what the Oilers should be fishing for. Whether it's a defensive upgrade like a Noah Dobson or a scoring winger that pushes everyone down in the lineup, there is little doubt in any of the guys' minds that the Oilers need to do something more than nibbling around the edges. Either way, the pressure is on Stan Bowman to make something happen to ensure the team can take another step forward. 

Finally, the guys talked about their trip to Montreal that's coming up this week, and how they're excited to head east even though they'll only be at the 4 Nations for 39 hours. Seeing as Baggedmilk has never been to Montreal, heading to the historic city for such a short amount of time is probably not ideal, but it will certainly be a great time anyway.

The fellas kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life by welcoming Wanye back to the show for the first time in what feels like forever. With Gregor on vacation in Hawaii for 10 days, Wanye got tapped to fill in at 1440 while Jason was on vacation, and he had plenty of stories from his time on the radio. If you know Wanye's knowledge of sports outside of the Oilers, you'll realize how hilarious it is to have him host a four-hour sports radio show. 

Hijacking the show, Chalmers was tired of talking about sports radio and shifted the conversation to a preview of a great sports weekend. As we learned, Chalmers has a personal connection to this weekend's Waste Management Open, which has him extremely excited to watch the amateurs competing in the tourney. Somehow, that led to a conversation about spending money from your first job after Tyler asked how much it would have cost for the guys to quit school and get right to work.

From there, the boys looked ahead to Sunday's Super Bowl and got into the weeds with their prop betting sheet. With each contributing $20 to the pool, the strategies for approaching these props were all over the map. Needless to say, some of these props are ridiculous and betting real money on any of them seems foolish, but that doesn't mean the fellas didn't have a good time doing it anyway. Either way, the trend of increased betting talk on the Real Life podcast continues to rise.

The guys kicked off the Monday episode of Real Life by looking ahead at the Four Nations Face-Off and discussing whether they are getting more excited as the tournament approaches. Given that it's the only hockey we'll be able to watch for two weeks, the guys wondered how excited people will be even with some of the best players on the ice together for the first time. Tyler also brought up the Oilers' schedule and how they'll be on the road for nearly two weeks after the 4 Nations break is over. 

Changing gears, the guys talked about playing golf video games and how Chalmers has joined Baggedmilk and Tyler in playing PGA Tour: Road to the Masters. Given that all three of the boys have that game, they're already setting the table for a Real Life virtual goal tournament when the boys can finally sync their schedules up and get to work. Feeling jealous that the boys are all playing golf, Jay invited himself over to Chalmers' house so that they could fill out the foursome. 

Turning the podcast toward the NBA, the guys discussed the Luka Doncic trade that sent the Mavs superstar to the L.A. Lakers over the weekend and tried to figure out what a comparable deal would look like in the NHL. Chalmers and Tyler discussed how a massive deal like this can go down with only one trade partner in the mix. Could you imagine a scenario where a team would trade an Auston Matthews-calibre prospect without anyone else in the league knowing he's available?

The fellas kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a discussion about Chalmers' extra days in Jasper after his family decided to stay back to do a little skiing. Seeing as Chalmers played hockey all weekend before his ski adventure, the ol' body wasn't feeling nearly as fresh as he needed it to be. That ski trip also gave Chalmers another dose of reality that his sons will soon start lapping their old man in the world of sports.

Changing gears, the guys checked in on the weight loss challenge with their official weigh-ins for the week. Given that the boys just had a monster weekend at the JPL that was ripe with cocktails and snacks, it's almost a miracle that they could stay relatively flat with their totals. Now that the tournament is over, Chalmers and Baggedmilk both talked about the need to lock in and get back on track to win Jay's money.

Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, the boys discussed the idea of signing Brendan Saad after the St. Louis Blues just bought him out. Saad chose to get bought our and forgo the remaining money on his deal because he didn't want St. Louis to send him down to the minors, which creates an interesting opportunity for the Oilers provided they think it's a fit. Would you sign Saad knowing that he would add even more depth to the roster, or is he too close to one of our other players that makes it unlikely?

The podcast started with a recap of the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament from this past weekend at the Jasper Park Lodge and how it was yet another spectacular few days in the mountains. The boys couldn't help but gush about how great it was to return to the JPL, spend time with co-workers, and the games that entertained the group over those few days. Changing gears, Tyler expressed his feelings about the Buffalo Bills' losing to the Kansas City Chiefs for the second consecutive year in the playoffs. From how Buffalo started poorly to how some questionable calls later in the game factored into the loss, Tyler broke down his feelings on the loss and how it's frustrating to fall to Kansas City again. Needless to say, sports are awful most of the time, and last night's loss was yet another dose of that reality for Tyler.

Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with some hockey talk, as the boys are still reeling from the monster Mikko Rantanen trade that happened on Friday night. Amazingly enough, Jeff Marek ended up getting Erik Tulsky — Carolina's General Manager — on The Sheet to talk about the deal and how it all came together. Finally, they wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a quick chat about Connor McDavid's return to the lineup, and how the boys feel like the captain is going to have a big night.

The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life with an update on the podcast weight loss challenge. As you'll hear, Jay and Baggedmilk are down some weight, while a big weekend's worth of food and drinks has Chalmers up 200 grams. The best part about Chalmers gaining a little bit is that he spent the Thursday podcast episode bragging about being down six pounds.

Tagging onto the weight loss challenge, the guys got an update about Baggedmilk's hot dog charity drive now that he's got a week's worth of dogs under his belt. Even though no on expected this bit to go on this long, it's amazing to see how the community has rallied around the challenge to raise over $5000 for SCARS animal rescue.

Changing gears, the fellas looked ahead at the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament and Chalmers' plan to get everyone to stay an extra day so they could ski at Marmot Basin. Chalmers is very excited about the tournament, and if he can find a way to get everyone to stay an extra day, he could put himself even further behind in the weight loss challenge.

Finally, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics. They discussed everything that went down around the NFL this past weekend, recapped some winners and losers, and updated everyone on what's happening with the Real Life weight loss challenge. Needless to say, the Monday episode of Real Life was all over the map once again.

The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life by discussing how Sportsnet was duped by an Oilersnation April Fools article from years ago in a recent post about McDavid escaping additional discipline for an elbow against the Wild. As you'll hear, the boys had a healthy chuckle about Sportsnet's mishap and how the article still isn't fixed even 14 hours later. That led to the guys discussing whether or not McDavid deserved some kind of fine after that elbow.

Sticking with Connor McDavid, the guys spent some time making up fan fiction about No. 97's home life and tried to imagine what silly arguments he has with his wife. Do they argue about walking the dog? Dishes? Do they have people to handle those day-to-day items? Obviously, we'll never know the answers to those questions unless the couple invites people into their home for a reality show or something, but that didn't stop the boys from having fun imagining scenarios anyway.

Changing gears, the guys looked ahead at the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament and how the boys are incredibly excited to get back to the Jasper Park Lodge for the third annual tourney. Not only is it a good time in a beautiful location, but it's also geared at raising money for a great cause. Given that Baggedmilk, Chalmers, and Tyler have been to the tournament for three straight years, they walked through some of the logistics from the weekend and how they plan to party at this year's event.

The fellas kicked off the Monday episode of Real Life with a story from Tyler after he woke up convinced that someone was trying to break into his house. After a day of drinking for the Buffalo Bills, a beer league game, and a healthy dose of spidey senses, a potential intruder woke Tyler up in the middle of the night, leading the boys to discuss home safety. Initially, Tyler thought the boys would make fun of his story, but what happened was a discussion about how to deal with intruders.

Next up on the schedule, Jay recapped his vacation to Mexico and started with a story about how he slept through an earthquake. Even though a bunch of folks around him felt the incident, Jay slept right through the whole event. Changing gears, Jay then told a story about a bar he went to in Mexico that was Oilers themed. Seeing as it was the spot for Canadians in Mexico to watch hockey, experiencing a couple of games in that setting was a very fun way to experience an Oilers game. 

Changing gears, the guys got back to the weight loss challenge they started talking about back in December and started the contest with an official weigh in. Jay came in at 230.1 pounds, Chalmers was at 199.8 pounds, and Baggedmilk was at 202.8 pounds, and now the contest will be who can lose 20 pounds the fastest or by the end of the end of the NHL regular season. With $200 on the line from each person, the race is on to get fit. Needless to say, the Monday episode of Real Life was all over the map once again.

The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a discussion about the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament that's coming up in a couple of weeks at the Jasper Park Lodge and how the boys have started pulling some pranks on their out-of-town co-workers. From convincing guys they need to play with a wood stick to pre-negotiating the post-game party spot, it's clear how excited everyone is to get back to Jasper and play some hockey.

Somehow, talking about playing hockey led to an extended discussion about the Olive Garden. Even though none of the guys had been to Olive Garden in forever, they still spent a lot of time talking about all the times they used to eat there. They also discussed how the restaurant removed Wanye's favourite seafood portofino dish. Nobody knows how the podcast landed on restaurant talk, but they spent more time there than expected.

With the Olive Garden talk out of the way, the guys examined the weight loss of Chalmers, Baggedmilk, Jay, and Tyler and noted that they're still looking for a way to loop in charity. While Tyler and Baggedmilk have started chipping away at the challenge, Chalmers has been sick for the last week, and Jay is still in Mexico, so who knows how this challenge is going to turn out. Will they lose weight? Will Baggedmilk's hot dog challenge cause him to gain weight?

Finally, the guys wrapped up the Thursday podcast with a story about Wanye leaving the Real Life group chat because he feels Tyler texts the group way too early. As you'll hear, the reason for having his notifications on makes sense, but in this case, he could have taken some very easy steps to mute notifications instead of having to leave the group chat.

The guys started the Thursday episode of Real Life by discussing New Year's Resolutions and how this point on the calendar feels like a zone where days blend together. But now that the calendar has flipped to 2025, routines are starting to feel a little more normal. Needless to say, it's always a battle to get back in the swing of things after the Christmas break.

Sticking with New Year's Eve, the guys ran through their plans from the night, and what was most interesting was that no one did anything and loved it. That led Chalmers and Baggedmilk to argue about the state of country music after both guys watched the Nashville NYE special. Since Chalmers is a country purist, he didn't appreciate the face tattoos and auto-tuned singing that has invaded the genre over the last year or so.

Finally, the fellas wrapped up this episode of the podcast with a collection of random topics, including the scaring of children, Jay's new hydrogen water bottle, and a bunch of other nonsense that was not included on Tyler's prep sheet. As you'll hear, Jay is very passionate about his new hydrogren bottle and tried to convince the fellas that it wasn't just wasted money. As always, the Thursday episode of the podcast was all over the map even when they tried to stay on topic.

The guys kicked off the Monday episode of Real Life with a random selection of topics, ranging from Tyler's first egg nog in his adult life to how many hot dogs someone can eat before they're tired of them. That led Jay to tell the story of one of his Canada Day parties, where he overindulged on dogs and ended up having one of the worst experiences of his life.

Changing gears, the guys shifted the podcast to how everyone spent their Christmas. For Jay, having a young daughter who's old enough to be excited for Santa was a wonderful experience. This year, Santa brought Crawford a GT Snow Racer, and it was a proud dad moment to see her cruising down the hill like a little speed demon.

Sticking with the Christmas conversation, the guys talked about their favourite gifts from this year and how it made everyone feel incredibly old because all of the best presents were incredibly practical. If you're ever feeling old, nothing lets you know you're actually there quite like being excited about new pans and a fresh wok.

Finally, the first episode of Real Life of the week wrapped with a conversation with some hockey talk. Starting with the World Juniors, the guys discussed whether they're still as excited as they used to be about the annual Christmas tourney. Was everyone more into the tournament when the Oilers were bad? As you'll hear, the tournament seems to have lost its lustre for the boys on the show as they've gotten older.
