I (Pete Normal) interview Milwaukee, WI photographer, activist, historian, and archivist Marc Ponto. We discuss a variety of topics, including Marc's pursuit of making a living and supporting his family doing photography and related work, while continuing to grow as an artist. Marc goes in-depth about a photo he took of 2x NBA MVP and Milwaukee Buck, Giannis Antetokounmpo, during The Bucks' championship parade in the summer of 2021, and what it took to make that image possible. I also get Marc to share a story about being held for questioning by the FBI in relation to the assassination attempt on then-presidential candidate George Wallace by Milwaukee resident Arthur Bremer.

We discuss a variety of topics, including Marc's journey as a photographer in the early 1960s, leading him to the world of photojournalism as a staff photographer for Milwaukee's counter-culture newspaper, The Kaleidoscope, in the late 60s / early 70s, and how his approach to his craft has shifted over the years.

I (Pete Normal) interview researcher and professor of marine climate science and my good friend and former musical collaborator, AyK. We discuss what drew us together as friends and songwriting partners, why we stopped being friends, and the ways in which fate brought us back together. We discuss AyK's wild time of touring with Everclear as a guitar tech, and how this led her to pursue meaning and purpose in her life via ecophysiology and biogeochemistry.

Novelist and my former bandmate Faith Gardner

Faith Gardner is a writer / novelist best known for her YA novels, but in this episode we discuss the downsides of getting pigeon-holed as a certain type of writer, among many other aspects of her writing career. She was also my bandmate in Oakland's Hooray For Everything, and we get into talk of that band, as well as her current musical project, Plot 66. As in previous episodes, there's also lots of talk of mental health and individual creative processes.
