In this episode, Marcus is joined in conversation by writer and director, Stefan van de Graaf as well as composer, Michael Whittle.

The filmmaking pair were in Manchester to premiere their new feature film "One of Us" at Manchester Film Festival on 28th March 2026.

"One of Us" is a horror-mystery set at a funeral, but as members of a family begin dying one by one, Youngest searches for the stranger in their midst.

The film features a bold and unique writing style with a storyline packed with tension and suspense throughout.

Actors such as Kit Connor, Sienna Guillory and Douglas Henshall make up the talented cast.

During this chat, Stefan and Michael discuss their backgrounds in the world of filmmaking, childhood inspirations as they grew up together in Chicago as well as innovative ways they have marketed their films in the modern world of filmmaking.

In this episode Callum is joined in conversation by the writer/director and cast of the independent feature drama "The Way We Speak".

The film focuses on an up-and-coming writer (Simon Harrington) who refuses to leave the spotlight when his best friend and debate opponent suffers a cardiac arrest, leading to an obsession over his new opponent and a growing rift with his ailing wife.

When a young bestselling Christian essayist (Sarah Clawson) is asked to step into the debate at the last minute, the series of increasingly intense showdowns about religion gradually shift the film from abstract discourse to Simon's personal life.

Writer and director, Ian Ebright, along with cast members Patrick Fabian (Simon), Diana Coconubo (Claire), Kailey Rhodes (Sarah) and Ayanna Berkshire (Annette) discuss at length the process of making the film and was the intricacies of the story meant to them.

Through the exploration of Simon's personal journey and the considerations his debate with Sarah forces him to make, the film asks us as viewers to consider whether how we speak is more important than the arguments themselves.

Is defeating an opponent the ultimate goal or learning our own personal limitations more valuable?

"The Way We Speak" is currently available to stream in the US and will be screened virtually on the 28th February 2026 at 19:00 GMT at Liverpool Film Festival, This will be followed by a Q&A with Ian to discuss his debut feature. In this episode, Marcus had a conversation with actor, writer and director, Hayden Mclean.

Hayden's short film, "The Last Dance", shares the story of an East London bar in the 90s as it is hit with a compulsory purchase order, threatening the existence of the establishment that is a cornerstone of Caribbean life in the area.

“The Last Dance” is deeply emotional and touching story, inspired by Hayden’s own family history.

During the conversation they chat about what it was like for Hayden telling a story so personal to him, how he balanced all of his different roles on his directorial debut as well as the serendipitous moments that helped the film be born into existence as well as the joyous experiences he had working with such talented actors.

"The Last Dance" will be screened at Worcester Film Festival on Thursday 25th September 2025 at 3pm.

The short animated film "Nibbling of the Night" follows Suzy and Billy, an unhappy middle-aged couple whose affection has long faded away. One night Suzy is visited by two female vampires who become for her a model of the strong, independent, and emancipated woman she always wanted to be.

During the conversation they chat about the creative and technical aspects of animation, Gabi's literary inspirations and as well as what she looks to achieve and provoke with each one of her films.

"Nibbling of the Night" will be screened at Worcester Film Festival on Saturday 27th September 2025 at 12pm.

The documentary "Beyond The Score" chronicles the journey of Phil, a passionate composer and visionary artist, as he strives to leave a lasting impact through his music.

The film was shot in the midlands and follows Phil’s creative process while recording his album with his band, The Rainmakers. The documentary goes on to dig deeper into the stories behind the music, exploring the barriers that people with disabilities face in accessing music.

During the conversation they chat about the filmmaking process itself, how Fin went about bringing the human stories out of the footage and what it was like for Phil to talk about such personal topics on camera.

"Beyond The Score" will be screened at Worcester Film Festival on Saturday 27th September 2025 at 2:15pm.

Rob is a comedy writer from Manchester in England. His latest project "FIFTY" is set to be filmed later on this year.

"FIFTY" is a pilot for a TV series set in the US. "FIFTY" features Franklin - a catastrophically naive British student who, after an unintentional viral scandal makes him a town outcast, soul searches across America, where unexpected friendships and comical misadventures await.

During this conversation Marcus and Rob discuss Rob's influences, how his time studying in America has inspired much of his work (including "FIFTY") and what it takes to turn a script into something tangible.

Worcester Film Festival 2024

It's that time of the year for our annual overview episode of Worcester Film Festival. This year at Worcester Film Festival 2024, The Glacé Film Club once again dived into the goings on of the festival to share with you all that went on at the event.

In its fourth year it was time to step up the coverage even further. So strap in for a wonderful array of conversations with attendees, filmmakers, actors and the organisers of the festival to give a huge insight into the atmosphere of this year's event.

Marcus will take you through all that went on across the whole 4 days, including some exclusive chats with award winners at the legendary awards gala hosted on the final night of the festival.

This episode is an unbelievable insight for anyone who loves filmmaking, short films or is just intrigued by how the whole process comes together.

Worcester Film Festival this year took place between the 25th - 28th September with the programme featuring a wide array of short films, feature films, networking events, Q&As and a pitching event.

The 8th edition of the film festival begins on the 2nd October running until the 6th October 2024. With the online edition running from the 9th - 20th October. Adrian very kindly sat down with Marcus to share stories about how he started the festival, his experiences setting up pop up cinema nights whilst travelling and the positive impact that the festival and film has on the local area.

In the third episode, Marcus has a conversation with Martha Treves and Lia Gomez-Lang. Writer and director Martha, alongside producer Lia, have a fascinating conversation with Marcus about what it takes to get a project off the ground, their journey's into the world of film as well as want went into the making of the short film "Something Else".

“Something Else” follows estranged daughter Lily as she returns home to assist her mother in the search of her lost beloved pet “Shadow”. In turn the film explores loneliness and separation as mother and daughter try to find a way back into their distancing relationship.

Together Martha and Lia run the film production company "RAX Films".

"Something Else" will be screened at Worcester Film Festival at 2:30pm on Friday 27th September and 9am on the Saturday the 28th September 2024.

In the second episode, Marcus has a conversation with Jacob McClean and Abbie May Wilson. Writer and Director Jacob, alongside actress Abbie, have an insightful conversation with Marcus about their journey as student filmmakers, passions for 1930s cinema as well as want went into the making of the short film "Whistling Dixie".

"Whistling Dixie" is a black and white short film set in 1930s Hollywood. The film follows aspiring actress Betty Murphy as she struggles through the darker side of Hollywood during the golden age of cinema. Shot using filmmaking techniques of the time, "Whistling Dixie" was Jacob's final submission as a film student and marks the culmination of all his cinematic interests and visions.

"Whistling Dixie" will be screened at Worcester Film Festival at 11:00am and 6:30pm on the 27th September 2024.

In the first episode, Marcus has a conversation with brotherly filmmaking duo, Morgan Brothers. Writer and Director, Luke Morgan alongside brother and composer Jake Morgan have an enthusiastic conversation with Marcus about their passion for filmmaking, what inspires the stories they tell and what it took to produce their new feature film "Froggie" in the space of a year.

"Froggie" is a bilingual production featuring both Irish and English dialogue. Shot in their hometown of Galway, the duo discuss the cultural elements of the film, why working alongside the actors and filmmakers they have continuously collaborated with was so satisfying and how it felt to pack out a cinema for the film's premiere in their hometown.

"Froggie" will be screened at Worcester Film Festival at 12:45pm on the 27th September 2024.

In the latest conversation episode, Marcus spoke with Director of the short documentary "Life Over Death", Gillian Davies.

During their conversation Marcus and Gillian spoke about the film that won Best Documentary at Worcester Film Festival in 2023. The film explores the charnel house underneath the home of the Bishop of Worcester, the history behind it and how it inspired the bishop's late wife to write the book "A Tour of Bones".

The documentary is not only historically fascinating but explores bigger themes of life and death and how embracing the notion of death can help us appreciate life more.

Gillian also discusses her wider love for filmmaking, the impact this film and the act of producing films has on her and her plans for the future.

This is a wonderful chat that explores many insightful areas offering a great look into what it takes to produce such a documentary.

Another year and another visit to the wondrous Worcester Film Festival. Marcus headed down to Worcester, microphone in hand to take in a selection of high end films, meet a bunch of passionate filmmakers and catch up with old friends. Marcus paid him a visit at Vue's Shepherd's Bush site in London to engage in a conversation full of film passion and excitement for everything on the big screen.

Recorded on location at the Vue Cinema in Sheppard's Bush, Dean shares with Marcus some really unique insights into what goes into scheduling so many films across a huge selection of screens, what Dean's role involves and the involvement Vue have with the major production companies throughout the filmmaking process. Sat amongst the seating in one of their cinema screens, the location made for the perfect setting to dive into all of these topics.

Once again, this was an amazing peek behind the curtain of the industry we all love so much. If how huge films are made and then put on the screen intrigues you, this is the episode for you. The summer season is finally upon us and what a first episode we have for you. Marcus popped along to the Curzon Cinema in Hoxton to record an immensely insightful and wide ranging conversation with Curzon's Director of Programme and Distribution Sales, Damian Spandley.

Recorded on location at Curzon Hoxton in London, the pair sat down in the main screen of the cinema to discuss exactly what goes into programming the film selection at such an eclectic cinema chain like Curzon as well as flipping to the other side of the industry to discuss the intricacies of film distribution via Curzon's distribution arm, Curzon Film.

As cinema lovers at The Glacé Film Club, this conversation provided an amazing peek behind the curtain of an industry we all adore for its output, but don't necessarily know a whole bunch about the inner workings of.
