Erin emphasises the differences in funding and support between the two countries' education systems, noting the strain of self-funding classroom supplies in the US and the limited per-pupil funding in the UK. Despite the difficulties, Erin persisted, eventually finding a better fit through supply teaching and later focusing on tutoring, where she could apply her passion for teaching in a more flexible and personalised manner.

Erin's personal experience with neurodiversity significantly influences her tutoring approach. Diagnosed with autism later in life, Erin reflects on how her neurodivergence shaped her teaching career and the barriers she faced. She now tutors neurodivergent children online, many of whom are home-educated and recovering from school trauma. Erin's approach is characterised by patience, empathy, and a calm demeanour, creating a safe and accessible learning environment for her students. She discusses her plans to expand her business by developing cross-curricular learning guides and incorporating well-being elements, with the support of her neurodivergent partner, a CAMHS nurse. Erin's mission is to provide tailored, compassionate education that addresses both the academic and emotional needs of neurodivergent children, offering them a supportive and understanding learning experience.

Saying Yes to Opportunity

Leaving behind a successful career as a classroom teacher and senior leader is a bold decision, but it seems that Jane recognised the importance of balancing her professional ambitions and her family life. Instead of pursuing the path of becoming a "super head" (a term often used in the education field to describe a highly successful and accomplished school headteacher), she prioritised her young family's needs and explored other avenues where she could make a positive impact.

Starting her own tuition business was a significant step for Jane. This venture not only allowed her to utilize her teaching skills but also provided her with the flexibility to manage her time according to her family's schedule. Her dedication and hard work have paid off, evident by her tuition business growing from strength to strength. This success is a testament to her expertise as an educator and her ability to connect with students and their families.

The turning point in Jane's journey came when she embraced an opportunity to teach a client from another country. This experience opened new doors for her, both professionally and personally.

Arthur Moore - From Thailand teaching to business owner

Arthur Moore is a tutor who has a clear purpose for his business. He is not motivated by financial goals, but rather by the desire to help students succeed and to create a life where he can spend time with his family.

Arthur's story is inspiring. He left the UK to teach in Thailand, where he learned a lot about himself and about what he wanted out of life. He realized that he wanted to start his own tuition business so that he could help students achieve their academic goals and so that he could have more time to spend with his family.

Today, Arthur's tuition business is thriving. He can help students succeed and he can spend time with his family. He is an inspiration to other tutors who are looking to start their own businesses.
