Four seemingly disconnected chapters populate this chunk, but a lot of good stuff comes through. Thanksgiving at the Carpenters, a de-cursing at St Mary's, a visit from Mab, and another date have us juggling storylines, but its not unenjoyable. Harry is learning to trust people again, though the guy in the mirror doesnt get enough grace.

Elsewhere, Mab meets Fitz, Lara is a little TOO open and vulnerable, an old spell reappears, and I spend time on everyone's favorite topic: bashing Michael as a father....only a short time though!

We pick up a few weeks after the Battle of Chicago, and buildings arent the only things devastated. Harry is broken by the loss of Murph et al, but has no time to sit still and heal. The people of his city still need him to feed and shelter them, and the Winter Court needs him to start courting Lara Raith. Thomas is still an outlaw, busted up, and trapped on Demonreach. Harry no longer has the White Council 's resources to supplement his own, and dang it he JUST. NEEDS. TIME!

But he isnt likely to get it. Billy pitches in, Bob shows a side we've never seen before, Molly does what she can...but the real hero this chunk turns out to be Lara! Maybe old vampires can learn new compassionate tricks!

We only bit off three chapters this week, but there's still a whole lot of ooey gooey Dresden goodness to be getting along with. Marcone owns the week but chooses to forgo the spoils of war--at least of the powerful magical artifact variety. We have a good long talk about where the good Gentleman may end up.

The Baron has an infernal trick up his sleeve to help seal the deal with Ethniu, double-handedly holding her off while Harry completes the binding. From there it is a battle of wills between our plucky hero and the last titan, with a Maggie corpse shaped speed bump to navigate along the way. Our boy wins the day with an assist from Bob and the Spear of Destiny, not to mention some Molly-rific foresight!

From there it is a simple jaunt to the island with Justine and we're home free! Of course, Thomas's paramour has also been concealing a deeper threat, this one in the form of Nemesis!

Murphy again proves it's not all about muscle, Alfred seems to have secrets, and Harry seems pretty chill with his red lightsaber crew. Lyssy gets some cool presents, Josh misquotes Once More With Feeling, and we dig deep as always.

The big action piece this week is a doozy, in overt and subtle ways. Harry and Ebeneezer finally cross staves as they've been threatening to do all novel and it does not disappoint. Our boy knows he is outmatched but takes on the Blackstaff anyway to make sure his brother can remain free--or the next best thing at any rate. Luckily Harry has a Faerie trick up his sleeve to maker sure disaster doesn't strike, though he deals a devastating blow to Ebb with words alone.

We chat Shakespeare and marvel at the newest rendition of a Webber/Rice masterpiece, Lyssy crushed the voices, and we grind on some conspicuous ellipses that lead us down a White Court rabbit hole.

The now not so secret weapon is a Titanic Bronzed goddess named Ethniu with a mysterious and powerful weapon that has already shot through the most powerful wards on offer and shut down the electricity across Chicago.

Cold Case is super depressing, though we get a potentially anvil-sized hint about Molly's future--or, past I guess...grammar hasnt caught up to temporal anomolies yet! Its great to reunite with everyone's favorite West Coast Warder 'Los, and the two main characters save the day then get kissy time! What could possibly go wrong?!

The conclusion is incredibly satisfying, with moments of terror, laughter, glee, and delight abounding. We learn who REALLY planned this heist plan, get a peek into what makes Goodman Grey so powerful, and divvy up the loot!

And in a very uncomfortable place--like the back of a Volkswagen, but in this case a hospital bed--Harry and Murph finally cross the Rubicon.

We manage to save jerkface Butters but at the cost of one sword. Check that, our receipt shows one Sword. We get a fun chase scene and get to see a bunch of cool Bob Butters Batman tricks that almost make the chase worth it.

Murph lays down a great thesis about friendship and faith and Butters ignores it. We end in a tough spot, minus a sword with Murph and Harry both in the literal grip of the bad guys! Even the bad guys have to have faith in this chunk so its only fitting that the climax involves Fidelacchius! Just.....oh no, not like that!

Josh dreams of Peyote Vape pens while breaking down over even the non-gross parts of Alyssa's job, and we struggle with incense and mornings.

We commit and name our own yikes, Lyssy angers DOZENS of sharks fans, and we do our best to hold it together.

We've finally wrestled sound away from the evil Cloud, though somehow its ai-clean-up-less but daggummit WE HAVE A POD!

This week we are back at the Battle of Demonreach, where Harry drops a hall of fame tier Latin reference-correspondence courses finally pay off! The greatness continues as our Knightly wizard turns Sharkface into catfood face, Murphy takes a leisurely stroll through the forest, and a bad guy barge makes like Josh's SUV, with the Water Beetle standing in for the pink-leather-seated Mini Cooper!

Molly starting a Queen classic at a point Freddie never intended is obviously a big disgrace, plus the mud on her face will wait til next episode so even that is out of proper sequence! Thomas doesn't mind a remix though as he slices and dices with aplomb.

Up the hill we go where Fix and Lily both have quarrels with our boy. We discuss how tragic the Summer Lady's path truly has been, and after a quick dust up with the aforementioned, the Summer and Winter Knights team up as we get ready for the final chunk!

Last week Murph came out of nowhere to save the day, but now we have to finish the job! Even though it's not a very good one, as ever Harry has a plan. How hard could it be to outrun the Wild Hunt long enough to take out its two supernatural badass leaders?

A well placed rifle shot, a hog to horse suicide jump, and some precisely applied Newtonian physics later, we find our Harley a jungle cat and our wizard the new leader of the Hunt! There's a big set piece with outsider piranha, three magic barges-well normal barges but they're set up for magic!--and a do or die battle to save the island and millions of people! And among the hustle and bustle, we get one last bittersweet cameo from a formerly good kitty.

We get bogged down in how history informed the present and how cities pop up. Lyss cracks most of the pots, and we fight off all the psychic assaults we can from life and Sharkface alike! Hop aboard, but try not to get slammed into any bulkheads! Cold Days chunk 10 starts NOW!

The stakes could not be higher as Harry must decide the balance of power in the very court which needs to be ever-vigilant in the battle against extinction: the psychopath or the romantic, whoyagot!?

Everything goes to hell in Chichen Itza. Its a tough night for super ladies as Lea doesnt get to sacrifice a virgin, Arianna doesnt get to execute her coup of the red king, and Molly starts to bleed out.

Almost every character gets their big action moment, most especially, a badass Sword of Faith-wielding Murph who slices and dices with aplomb. The Grey Council turns the tide and helps us break through the demon horde, but only enough to face the impenetrable combined wills of the Lords of Outer Night and the Red King, himself.

Thomas makes it up to DJ Molly C, Murphy and Sanya decide to hold the door at the very likely cost of their own lives. while Harry makes it into the temple just in time to be flattened once more by the tiny monarch...things seem bleak as Rampire Numero Uno raises the blade above Maggie.

Dont wait for a holy proclamation, the blood slip-n-slide is perilous but worth the risk. Changes 8 starts RIGHT NOW!!

Our hero may running low on his leads, time, and chance of winning even if he had the first two, but have no fear there IS good news! Harry is finally starting to see Molly as a friend and trusted ally instead of just his troubled apprentice. She’s proven to be someone the whole team can count on!

But most importantly, she’s shown enough for Harry to TRUST her, which is one of his character defining unresolved issues! Huge moment for Harry and Molly and probably the bright spot n the chunk for me!

Great moment and I, for one, can’t wait to see where it goes from here!!
