We as a people should have a desire to experience God fully.

Churches have lost an eagerness for the Lord and we hope as a church that there are tangible experiences with God as we see in the scriptures, but for that to occur, what is required of us?

We contrast the story of The Tower of Babel with the Day of Pentecost to see what was required for a group to experience God in his fullness. Our hope in learning from the text is that we can experience greater depths of the Lord.

What does it mean to be a Bondservant

Developing Self-Worth (Holiness)

Daniel made a bold decision to not eat the food offered to the idols. This could have led to his death, but he chose to take a stand.

We as believers have lost this separation with the world. Everything is so permissive today that there is no difference between a believer and a Christian. Daniel showed us the value of holiness and how it led to his self-worth and boldness.

We consider today in what ways should we express our separation from the world. Our hope is to equip believers to live out the truth of Jesus wherever they go, so they can be a light for him. Developing Self-Worth (Overcoming our Need for Power and Success)

Developing our self worth is a journey with the Lord.

The enemy offers different temptations to draw us away and lose our self-worth. Finding our identity in external success and power is one of the chief ways. We considered how the Babylonians offered success and power to the boys (Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego) to slowly make them change their priorities and values.

It is the same thing the enemy does today for many of us. We have slowly drifted away from the Lord due to our need to prove ourselves to the world. In this sermon, we consider the idea of clothing ourselves in Christ so that our chief identity is him. In doing that, our need for success and power dwindles and we are satisfied in him.

Developing Self Worth (Overcoming the Deception of the World)

Finding self-worth begins in the secret place. Babylon did everything to pervert Daniel and his friends.

One of the chief ways was by educating them in the ways of the Babylonian literature. Slowly, they hoped to change their mindsets. Daniel was able to overcome. The enemy continues that same tactic and tries to pervert our education and thinking. False ideas and poor teaching has crept into the church and we must be rooted as Daniel was.

Developing Self-Worth in the Secret Place

Having self worth is one of the hardest things for people to learn. We know the truths of God, which say that we have value and that we are loved, but to feel value inside of yourself can be difficult. How do we even begin that process?

We look at the life of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego as they had enough self-worth to stand up to the king. Where did that come from? It came from the secret place. When no one was looking, they learned to dedicate themselves to the Lord. Because they found victory when no one was looking, they had victory when everyone was looking.

We need victory in our secret places. Specifically, we looked at the need for victory in our identity. When we are alone with God, we learn how God sees us rather than how the world may see us. It is important we understand how God sees us in contrast to the world, as we will lose our way if not.

Developing Self Worth (How do we begin to develop self-worth?)

In our journey to finding healing from a fear of man, we consider that true liberation from fear of man begins in having self-worth.

Many people struggle with self-worth, even though they have heard the truths of the scriptures. They know they are fearfully and wonderfully made and that they are God's handiwork, but still feel a low sense of self when someone can say something different. How do we begin to find self-worth so that we don't bow down to the will of man, but to God?

We consider the truths of God this week and how people in our life may have spoken to us. Our relationships with humans dictate how we see God, so in many ways we need healing from our earthly father, so that we can really begin to understand our heavenly father.

How do we heal from our fear of mankind?

We are continuing our series on healing. As we heal, the hope is that we can be a light and healing to others.

This week, we consider finding healing from a fear of mankind (need for approval). Some people are so terrified by people that they do not walk in what God has called of them. They are more afraid of mankind than they are of God. We consider how we overcome a fear of mankind through the life of Jesus and through the gospels. We also remember the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, considering how he forsook all others, bowing to the will of the Father. Our prayer is that we can do the same.

How do we find healing from our Insecurities?

Finding Healing from Demonic Oppression

In this series, we look at the idea of healing and needing healing from different things of our life.

This week we consider the attack of the enemy. The enemy comes as a roaring lion to devour us. We face challenges and demonic attack often and we must be aware of that. Sometimes, knowingly and unknowingly, we have allowed demonic oppression in our lives as we allow demons to take a stronghold in our hearts, our minds and our lives.

This week, we learn how we heal from traumas and demonic seeds that we have planted inside of ourselves, so that we can plant the spirit of God inside of ourselves.

Beginning the Process of Healing

If we have any desire to grow in our walks with the Lord, healing must happen at in internal level. We are not able to live into what God is calling of us, without healing.

We consider the story of Adam and Eve. Although they were saved from eternal separation from God, God also took care of the other byproducts of sin, including their shame. How do we let go of the nature inside of us that displeases God?

We consider Galatians 5 which points us to the idea of killing our flesh or our animal nature. Our anger, our bitterness, our worry are a few examples of that nature. But how do we begin the process of killing our nature that might be so deep seeded inside of us? We look at the idea of building our spirit man so that we might kill the flesh. First, we look at the situation of the man at the pool and recognize that it is only because of Jesus that we can proceed forward. He is the beginning of the solution, the middle and the end of the solution. So we take a moment to recognize the value of Jesus in our lives.

Second, we consider how the man moves forward by seeing how he responds to the healing of Jesus. The man chooses to love others and share Jesus. If we will live a life for others, growth and change will be required.

How do we begin to find healing in our minds?

We are considering how we become happy as people. In 2 Chronicles 29, we see that the people became happy. How can we find that happiness?

Hezekiah repaired the doors of the temple before doing anything else in 2 Chronicles 29. What does that mean for us? It means that we need to repair and restore the entry point of our body, which is our mind. We need to find healing in our minds before we can ever reach the potential of the life that God has for us. We consider how Hezekiah began the process and glean wisdom from him.

Why doesn't our character change?

Character is important to whom God wants us to be. We are called to have the image of Christ. But many do not, even though they know they should.

What stops people from character change? Romans 5 talks about how we should glory in our suffering because it leads to perseverance, perseverance leads to character change and character change ultimately leads to hope.

Because we lack a hope in God, we don't develop our character. We can't be kind because we don't know if it will work out. We can't be patient because will God come through?

How do we handle hopelessness?

What does real salvation look like?

Why does God move in moments of deep need?

As we continue our series on how to become excited as believers, we look at Bartimeus who was one of the most excited people to encounter Jesus. Where did his excitement come from? He had a deep need.

We want to be a church excited for the calling that God has. But people are very bored in relation to church. Why is that?

People have little idea about their purpose. Purpose is what keeps believers hungry for more of God. But most believers today have no sense of their purpose. Why not?

What is required for revival?

We are praying for revival as a church. If revival comes, the church will not be the same.

What is needed for revival? In prayer, God revealed the idea of faithfulness. If people will be faithful in the little, God will do more. But what does faithfulness look like?

Why is it so hard to love some people?

We are commanded by God to love others. It is in the conversation of the greatest commands of God and 1 John reminds us that if we do not love people we see, we cannot love a God we do not see.

So in the midst of that knowledge, why is it so hard for us to love others? Love should be the identifier of a believer. If you are having a hard time knowing how to love others or why you lack in love towards others at times, this podcast will hopefully be a blessing for you.

A family is the basic building block of society, so how do we grow that unit so that we are stronger and more unified? As we see in Acts, an open church is a church that grows as a family. What is death and what is hades and why is understanding that important?

In Revelation1:18, Jesus says that he holds the keys of death and Hades. What does that mean? This week, we looks at why Jesus had to die as a human and the significance for all people. Verses like these unite scripture together from the first command of God to his coming, so although it may seem like a basic idea of scripture, it is foundational and adds confidence for the believer.

For this question this week, we looked at Psalms 19:1-4 and consider how nature glorifies God. By doing what God created it to do, it glorifies God. We consider that as we answer the question.

As we think about this question again, I want to note that the question from last week had a lot of interaction. Our past can be difficult to handle and weighs many of us down.

As we think this week, we ask the important question of "why?" Why do I need to deal with my past? Why not ignore it and move on? For many, the best way to handle their issues is to move on. We like to make ourselves busy so we don't have to deal with it.

Although we don't have all the answers, we believe scripture and people's experience can guide us. We look at Luke 14:25-34 and see what Jesus calls of us. Take time this week to write everything Jesus calls of us and consider how your past might stop you from living fully into it. What is the potential of a Christian?

People live into potential they believe is possible. If someone thinks they will only make a B in a class, they will work towards that only. If someone thinks they’ll make a A, they will work towards that. We all are moving towards our potential in whatever we believe is possible.

But maybe we are missing things because we don’t consider what’s available. What is the potential of a Christian's life? We look at what's possible in scripture and consider the life of Jesus.

Life and death are central themes of the bible. To live is the right of every person, but death surrounds us. When death comes at our face through war and sickness, we are ready to fight, but the enemy likes to bring death slowly. How do we handle those areas of life that are dying slowly, like relationships, gifting and overall spiritual life?

We look at the life of the woman with the issue of blood and consider how we life was restored for her.

Impact is the impression or effect we have on others when we come into contact with them. Do people leave better or worse after encountering you and does that matter?

As we engage in this question, we look at what Jesus calls of us and how he lived. Our hope is that we live intentional lives that leave an impact on others and our prayer is that this sermon can give some guidance towards that aim.

How does someone begin to change?

Change is an important part of human existence and helps us look more like Christ. But for some, change is hard. Is change possible and if so, how do we start?

We look at scriptures and it reminds us that in submission, we can begin to change. First we must submit to God, then to others. As we submit, our hope is that we begin to see more clearly and look more like Christ, changing ourselves into his image.

What is success? Success is one of those words that is hard to define.

For some, it is wealth, while for others it is status. But does God have a definition of success and is there a wrong or right answer? We look at the life of Jesus and consider what truly makes someone successful. Our hope is that in understanding what success looked like for Jesus, we can model it and follow the example set for us. We don't want to be Christians in word only, but want to follow Christ in his living.
