Matthew Nolan talks debuting his Häxan show and Púca Festival

For this special edition of the District Conversations Podcast Craig Connolly was joined by acclaimed musician and horror fanatic Matthew Nolan to discuss his score of the 1922 Scandinavian horror masterpiece Häxan. The debut screening of this will take place on November 1st at the Droichead Arts Centre in Drogheda. Häxan is one of many events that make up the inaugural edition of Púca with the likes of Just Mustard, Æ MAK, David Keenan, Pillow Queens, Kormac, Lisa O'Neill and many more performing between the October 31 and November 2 across the festival venues in Trim, Athboy and Drogheda. He represents Dublin North West, and we're particular fans of his in the District office because he's taking a stand against ticket touting in Ireland. Through passing a private member's bill, he aims to make above-price ticket reselling a criminal offence, which means fans will be able to access tickets when touts can't profit from them, and there'll be no more paying out the nose for gigs. Here, Adam Heaton chats with him about his background, the contents of the bill itself, and some of the reasons Noel is so against ticket touting.

Eoin McCormack discusses his artistic background - In Conversation

“We’re offering a scholarship and incubation scheme on a rolling basis, so if somebody has a project or practice that would benefit the space they can apply through our website… I’d like to see more applications coming in for it… The more I speak about it, the more people will become aware of it.”Dublin's art scene has stagnated since the economic downturn in 2008. Funding that used to go to arts and culture programmes has been severely cut, and despite being nearly ten years on, still hasn't recovered. This is where The Tara Building comes in. We chatted to Nichol Gray, manager of the Tara Building on Tara St. Located next to Apollo House, it's Dublin's latest studio/creative space, set to launch this March. Nichol discusses plans for the Tara Building, the state of Dublin's creative scene, and why the Poolbeg chimneys have become so iconic in Dublin's design scene.
