#22: Review: ’10ish Podcast’

This week I review and recommend an extremely funny and educational countdown podcast. Nick and Brandon are the hosts(Brandon is actually the official sidekick host) of the 10ish podcast. Each week, either Nick or Brandon propose a top ten(ish sometimes it’s 5,12, etc..) list to countdown. The host not providing the countdown for the week then has to guess what, or who is on said list. To make it all that more difficult, the person guessing the list does it with no prior knowledge of what the topic is and does it in real-time. In that way, you also get to guess along with one of the boys and see how you fare on the countdown. Check it out and see how you do!

#14 Review: Sizzletown

Hi all, welcome back!

The first episode of the second season and it’s a review and recommend show devoted to a very funny podcast that is one of my favourites.
Sizzletown is a Pots and Pans production, featuring the talents of celebrated and acclaimed comedian Tony Martin, and the award-winning technical prowess of Matt Dower, twiddling the knobs.

Sizzletown is a comedy podcast that mimics the format of a late-night, AM, call-in radio show. Where all the callers are actually prerecorded by Tony and Matt and mixed together later. The result is a hilarious display of some of the stereotypical members of Melbourne’s population and its characters. Luckily, Tony has a load of outraged old man impressions to fill the lineup. (He also likes to slip in his Jason Statham impression wherever he can)
Do yourself a favour and give it a go for a little taste of Melbourne, or as you’ll come to know it, Sizzletown!

#12 Review: ’Archive 81’

In this week's Review and Recommend show, we are getting strange. Archive 81 is a Dead Signals production written by Marc Sollinger and Daniel Powell. It is a found(footage) audio style horror drama that revolves around the adventures of its main character, Daniel, or just Dan. Dan is employed to listen to and archive hundreds of old tapes for a 'building preservation society'. But Daniel quickly realises there is more to this job than he counted on. He enters a world of ritual magic and strange creatures that are governed and manipulated by sound. It's not for the faint-hearted, but the payoff is a beautifully constructed story that has music and sound at its core. Just what you want from a serial audio drama. It's only 3 seasons, but is vast in its scope. If you're a fan of shows like 'Welcome to Nightvale', then you will probably appreciate Archive 81.
