The Godfather, one of the greatest films ever made, spawned a computer game in 2006. Made by Electronic Arts, it was originally released in March 2006 for Windows, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. It was later released for the PlayStation Portable, Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation 3. It featured several famous actors from the film franchise reprising their roles for the computer game.

But Al Pacino (Serpico, The Devil's Advocate, The Irishman) did not lend his voice to Michael Corleone in the game. Instead, Godfather himself was voiced by British-born Canadian actor Joseph May (Episodes, Resident Evil, Thomas the Tank Engine). In this episode May discussing how he got the role so early in his career, what it did for his voice acting work and why he has never played the game.

Directed by Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting, My Own Private Idaho, Psycho) and also starring Coleman Domingo (The Running Man, Sing Sing, Rustin), Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride, Saw, Robin Hood: Men In Tights) and Al Pacino (The Godfather, Serpico, The Insider).

Burke takes Clayton under his wing to help weed out a mole in the agency. Released in North America at the start of 2003, it received mixed reviews from critics. However, it fared well at the global box office, pulling in over $100 million.

It was directed by James Foley (Glengarry Glen Ross) and starred Al Pacino (Glengarry Glen Ross), Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (Scarface) and Jerry Barrone. It told the story of Gennaro, a young boy, who wants his Grandpa's last quarter so he can go to the movies, but he must first deliver a message from his ailing Grandpa to a woman he loved years prior. Set in 1933's Philadelphia, and also shot in the city. Two Bits was not a hit. In fact, it was seen by very few. It was a small film during a big period for Pacino.

Film Critic Scott Weinberg, a Philly native born & bred, joins the podcast to discuss Two Bits. Scott talks about what it would be like trying to film on the streets of his home city, why the film's title would only make sense to Americans and how the story might have meant something to the film's writer.

When You Don't Know Jack premiered on HBO in 2010 it caused a bit of a stir. A film about the real Dr. Jack Kervorkian, a man who helped the terminally ill and the profoundly disabled end their lives. Kervorkian was a polarizing figure, often referred to as Dr. Death. The film looked to discuss Kervorkian's work in a very open & honest manner. Written by Adam Mazer and directed by Barry Levinson, it starred Al Pacino in the role of Dr. Jack Kervorkian.

Actor Logan Crawford appeared in the film as a shock jock who lambastes Kervorkian for his methods. Crawford joins the podcast to talk about that scene, what it was like chewing out Pacino to his face and why he is pleased with how obnoxious his character comes across. Heathcote Williams' play The Local Stigmatic was made into a feature film by Al Pacino. However, it took over five years for it to be finished and then was only shown in a handful of select screenings including it's first showing at New York's Museum of Modern Art in March 1990.

The play is about two British sociopaths wo spend their days wander the dog tracks of London while also being obsessed with celebrity culture. The film see's Pacino play Graham opposite Paul Guilfoyle's Ray. It's a film that very few people have seen.

British actor Wilson James played Graham in the 2016 London stage production. He joins the podcast to discuss how he tackled Williams' play & the character, why he felt he was becoming Graham the long the play went on and what he saw in the character that made Pacino become so obsessed with making the film.

Danny Collins is a comedy with a real family drama at the heart of it. It see's Pacino's Danny Collins, a one-hit wonder from decades previous, try to rekindle his relationship with his estranged son while also playing to sold-out crowds. You'll laugh and cry at it. But sadly it is an underseen Pacino film.

Now, on it's 10th anniversary (it was released March 2015), the inspiration behind the initial story of Danny Collins joins the podcast. English Singer-Songwriter Steve Tilston is the original Danny Collins. Well, sort of. He explains how the film came to be based on his much delayed letter from John Lennon, why he was so pleased to be involved and what it was like getting a hug from Al Pacino.

Upon release in 2011, Jack And Jill was reviled by most film critics. However, it did exceptional business at the box office. Starring Adam Sandler (in both titles), Al Pacino, Katie Holmes and Eugenio Derbez, this comedy has become the stuff of internet memes thanks to one segment of the film - the Dunkaccino advert.

Dancing alongside Pacino in that advert was comedian/writer/actor Andy Goldenberg, who joins the podcast to discuss his experiences of appearing in the film. Goldenberg talks about how he was cast, what it was like acting opposite Sandler and Pacino, and why the reaction to the film hit him very hard.

Cruising was a notorious movie upon release. It stoked up a lot of controversy over its footage and themes of homosexuality and violence. It also bombed at the box office and started Pacino's slump for the next few years. It derailed director William Friedkin's career for a couple of years too. However, over the past decade it has started to be re-assessed by film critic and cinephiles.

Joining the podcast to discuss the film and it's legacy is film critic and podcaster Dion Baia. Not only does Baia discuss the film and it's themes, but he also talks about a man named Randy Jurgensen, who was instrumental in helping get the film made and worked closely with Friedkin on the film.

When Al Pacino became obsessed with Oscar Wilde's Salome, he didn't make it easy on himself when trying to put it on camera. Salome is a filmed version of the stage production that featured Pacino as King Herod and Jessica Chastain (Interstellar, Zero Dark Thirty, IT Chapter Two) as Salome. Wilde Salome is a behind the scenes look at trying to stage the production. While also trying to make a feature film, or at least scenes from the play. Directed by Al Pacino, it took years before it appeared on the festival circuit. And then even longer before it was available to watch at home.

To try an unravel what Salome & Wilde Salome is all about is entertainment journalist Emily Murray, who is one of the few people that saw the documentary on the big screen when it had a one-night-only showing in the UK back in 2014. Emily explains why she went to see it, how she was hoping for more as to why Al was obsessed with the play and what she thinks to Jessica Chastain's performance.

Author! Author! was released in 1982. It is an autobiographical film written by playwright Israel Horovitz (The Indian Wants the Bronx) and directed by Arthur Hiller (The Out-of-Towners). It starred Al Pacino as Ivan Trevalian, a playwright trying to fix his play on Broadway while also looking after his five children after his girlfriend leaves him. It's a comedy of errors mixed with a bit of romance that saw Pacino finally do some comedy.

In a World Exclusive, ex-actor Elva Josephson (The Blue Lagoon) joins the podcast to talk, for the first time ever!, about appearing opposite Pacino as one of his daughters - Bonnie - in the film. Josephson talks about how she was cast, why she enjoyed working with the other kids and how Pacino reacted when they had to stage a huge food fight.

N.Y.P.D. was an American crime series that ran for two seasons between 1967 - 69. It centered around three New York police detectives – Lieutenant Mike Haines (Jack Warden), Detective Jeff Ward (Robert Hooks), and Detective Johnny Corso (Frank Converse) – who fight a wide range of crimes and criminals. The show featured many real New York City locations, as well as episodes based on actual New York City police cases.

In the episode called 'Deadly Circle of Violence', which was broadcast as episode 5 in the second season, Al Pacino made his screen debut as he played a Student from the South who was being blamed for the bombing of a Black church. The episode also featured Pacino's at the time girlfriend Jilly Clayburgh.

Robert Hook, who played one of the lead detectives in the show joins the podcast to discuss the show, acting opposite newcomer Al Pacino and also their brief times hanging out together talking acting. Robert also talks about another member of the Hooks family who appears in the episode.

Empire Magazine has been at the forefront of film journalism since it's inception in the 1990s. It has featured so many interviews with the great and good of the film & TV world. In 2019, one of it's big pieces was an interview with Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Martin Scorsese for their forthcoming crime epic THE IRISHMAN. It was tasked to Nick de Semlyen to interview all of them over a period of a couple of months ready for the October 2019 issue of the magazine.

The Godfather Part III receives a lot of criticism. Many were not interested in seeing Michael try to find redemption and live a clean life. However, if viewed as an epilogue, as Coppola suggested, then it gives new life to the film. Also, it shows a man trying to do right by the family he has neglected his whole life. It features a different type of performance from Pacino, one where Michael is finally comfortable in his own skin. There is also a great performance from Talia Shire as Connie. A lot of people don't like Sofia Coppola's performance as Mary.

However, Film Critic Roxana Hadadi joins the podcast to discuss Sofia's performance opposite newcomer Andy Garcia. Hadadi specifically looks at one scene that shows their romantic intentions to each other. And it's not a scene that many would choose to highlight. This little seen historical drama was released during 2021, when the world was caught up in a pandemic. It is based on the book Axis Sally Confidential by William Owen and features some classic Pacino courtroom grandstanding.

Actor Swen Temmel appears in the film as Billy Owen, James Laughlin's right-hand man. So, Temmel spent much of the film working closely with Pacino. He talks about when he first heard he was cast opposite the iconic actor, what it was like working with Al and how Pacino's acting made him think differently about his own.

Adapted from the Broadway play by Terence McNally and directed for the screen by Garry Marshall, it see's Johnny, just released from prison, gets a job in a diner and falls for a waitress named Frankie. He is a bit of a loner and keeps to himself but is determined that their romance will blossom.

Romance and mystery author Helen Cox joins the podcast to discuss this 1991 rom-com. She talks about what struggles both characters have to overcome in-order to fall in love, how this rom-com stands out compared to others from that period and why Frankie's VCR is so important to the story.

Episode 10: Scarecrow with Garry Michael White

Writer Garry Michael White used his own experiences to write the story for Scarecrow. The film depicted two lone guys joining up to trek across America. It was Al Pacino's third lead role and it placed him opposite Gene Hackman. However, troubles between the two actors and studio interference caused problems when making the film. However, it went on to win the Palme D'or award at the 1973 Cannes Film Festival.

White talks about the influences for writing Scarecrow, why the film was cut by the studio and how Pacino understood the nuances of his character.
