Like the tobacco industry and others before them, the defence industry is seeking to embed itself in the minds of our impressionable young people.</p><br><p>Today you will hear in depth presentations from Elise West and Cristina Pighini.</p><br><p>Elise West is from the <a href="https://www.mapw.org.au/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Medical Association for the Prevention of War</a> and also from <a href="https://teachersforpeace.com.au/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Teachers for Peace</a>. This episode explores peace and justice initiatives in Ballarat, in the work of the Knitting Nanas and in peacebuilding among First Nations communities across northern and central Australia.</p><br><p>Dr Larraine Larri is a proud member of the Milton Ulladulla District Knitting Nanas on the south coast of New South Wales. She is an eco-feminist activist artist educator and social researcher and her PhD focussed on the Knitting Nanas.</p><br><p>Madonna Quixley is the co-convener of&nbsp;<em>Let's Talk Peace Ballarat.</em></p><p><em>&nbsp;</em>&nbsp;</p><p>Ippei Okazaki is Principal Consultant at One Pacific Dispute Resolution. He is a highly experienced, nationally accredited mediator with a proven track record of serving vulnerable and disadvantaged clients for over 15 years.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Dr Helen Bishop is a Kungarakan woman of the Northern Territory.
