After nearly a year away, host Von Hosking returns with a special edition episode that the Hills District community has been asking for.

The City of Moreton Bay has released draft precinct planning proposals for both Arana Hills and Ferny Hills - and the scale of what's being proposed has caught many residents completely off guard. We're talking buildings up to 15 storeys in Arana Hills. Twelve storeys in Ferny Hills. Significant density increases across suburban streets. And a consultation window that many locals only just found out about.

The story exploded across local community Facebook pages and Echo News socials. Questions flooded in. So Echo News did what we do - we got onto it, reached out to council, and decided the best way to get real answers for this community was to sit down with your local councillor face to face.

Mathew has been in and around football for most of his life, including being a member of Samford Rangers FC since 2011 and is a lifelong Liverpool supporter. He currently plays for the Rangers Over 45’s Old Boys team and coaches his sons Under 12’s team. He joined the Committee in 2020 as the Club Secretary and was the Club Registrar prior to this. Samford Rangers FC has been a cornerstone of the Samford Valley community since 1973, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for players of all ages and skill levels. The club is not only known for its competitive spirit on the field but also for its strong community focus and positive impact off the field.

In this episode we discuss a serious issue that has recently affected the club - copper theft from their facilities. This disturbing trend has caused significant disruptions, not only for Samford Rangers but for several other local sports clubs as well. The Moreton Bay Road Runners is a running club based in the Moreton Bay region, dedicated to helping members of all ages and fitness levels enjoy running and walking and achieve their personal goals. They offer comprehensive support for becoming more active and training for events, from 5km races to marathons. Matt talks about his favourite part of the festival, the Hills Carnivale, which brings to a close the four weeks of incredible events. The annual Hills Carnivale on Saturday 25th May at George Willmore Park is a free entry event with a whole host of activities for little kids and big kids alike.

We hear Amber's story into beekeeping, which began with purchasing her first hive from Facebook Marketplace while living in the northern suburbs of Brisbane. Initially drawn to the convenience of flow hives, she eventually transitioned to traditional hive boxes and frames, finding a deeper connection to beekeeping through hands-on hive inspections. As a qualified beekeeper, Amber is passionate about sharing her knowledge with others, offering educational sessions for kindergartens and community groups.

Throughout the interview, Amber discusses common misconceptions about beekeeping and emphasizes the role of beekeepers in promoting biodiversity conservation. Von is a local, born and raised in North Brisbane. She now lives in Albany Creek with her husband and three children. She loves painting, decluttering, exploring local thrift shops, deep and meaningful conversations and spending time with her family. Street-side chat is where Von comes alive. Steve, a Northside Local his whole life and a passionate runner has spent his adult life working in top Bakeries in and around the local region. With 315 Parkruns to his name he has become a bit of a local icon within his local running groups also being a voice on a popular podcast aimed at the average runner, talking all things running and showcasing locals.
