I 1700-tallet blev sorte mennesker slavegjorte, sejlet over atlanten og pint ihjel på plantager - alt sammen bare så nogle rige mænd, kunne blive endnu rigere. Og selvom Niels Brock gør sit bedste for at holde sig ude af den slags grumme forretninger - så er der alligevel lidt for mange penge i det til, at han helt kan holde sig udenfor.
