Give 2 Government: Gotta Get G2G

We're back to the duo of Mel & Simon while Dom takes a sickie, and Mel opens up the airways about his recent nasal drilling and exploration operation. He also drops a bombshell about Joe Biden dropping bombs on Syria, and the news leaves us shell-shocked.

We then get into our local Western Australian state politics, with an election looming in less than a couple of weeks' time. The WAxit party's secession plan for WA. The Liberal and Labor parties tricking voters into handing over their personal details under the guise of applying for a postal vote. The tinpot dictator Premier Mark McGowan turning WA in to a police state with the G2G tracking app for arrivals into the state and his announcement that he intends to keep the border closed long after the pandemic ends.

The recent party leaders' debate made both of us angry for different reasons. And Simon fires up about opposition leader Zak Kirkup throwing in the towel by conceding defeat 2 weeks before the election and throwing his local candidates and voters under the bus.

We also discuss our thoughts about the COVID-19 vaccine.

We ask why West Aussies like state vs state parochialism. We discuss the recent Australian national anthem lyric change, what a new Australian flag could look like, and the differences between the United Kingdom and Great Britain.

Then we close the show with a country love song to our Dear Leader by local Perth comedian Chelsea Jones.

As we had predicted would eventually happen, Perth, our little self-isolated town at the bottom of the world has caught a curious case of the COVIDS, and we're coming to you from Day 1 of a 5-day lockdown. And there might be more... We discuss the situation.

Also, the shorting of the GameStop shares and the battle between Wall St hedge fund players and Reddit consumer investors. Dom gives a thorough explanation of what shorting is and what has happened there.

We discuss the leaking of Lionel's Messi contract leak saga, now that the world knows he's earned over half a billion Euros in the past 4 seasons. Which leads in to some other football chat.

And then we laugh out loud while discussing the Operation Odessa documentary which Simon has finally watched after Mel's repeated recommendation.

Then we talk about the pleasurable experience of bidets in China. No idea how that happened, but listen and find out.

An Insurrection On The Fly

This is an action-packed episode and one of our best yet. After Simon actually hit the record button, Dom is all about new year cheer and Mel & Simon reminisce about our high school mountaineering achievements in Western Australia's North-West.

Then we get into a robust conversation about the crazy happenings in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Yes, the old U.S. of A, with last week's storming of the Capitol building - what the Democrats are calling an insurrection - by Donnie Trump's clown-show whackjob fans. We discuss the event, ask whether Trump incited it, what they hoped to achieve and what they actually achieved.

We also get into the issue of big tech censorship and freedom of speech with el Presidente being banned from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, Spotify, Shopify, and pretty much every social media platform you can think of, probably including MySpace!

As well as the Twitter-alternative Parler app being banned from the Google and Apple app stores and being kicked off Amazon's web servers so that it can no longer be either downloaded or function for existing users.

Facebook's coming changes to the terms of service for its WhatsApp messaging app whereby it will begin collecting and sharing pretty much every bit of personal and usage data from your phone, what are the alternatives and why you should be concerned about your privacy online.

This is an interesting conversation between Mel, Dom & Simon with some thoughtful perspectives, and we make sure to end it with a good laugh.

The United States' 2020 election has been run and called by the media for the Democrat Joe Biden, while the Republicans claim the election was rigged. Trump is challenging the election results from a number of key states in the courts. Was there voter fraud? Can it be proven? Will a re-count be enough to change the result back in favour of The Don? And will Trump use a Constitutional loophole to decide the election by refusing to concede, thus sending a vote to the House of Representatives to elect the next President?

We talk about the shemozzle, the debacle, and the drama that was, and still is, the US election.

So we're back... from outer space... we just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face... thanks for not changing the locks and taking away our keys, because you couldn't survive without an epi-dose of Chronicles On The Fly!

Yes we haven't done a podcast for about 4 weeks because work and life, but in this one Simon and Dom (is he a regular now?!?!) start off with a US election deep dive as well as other interesting Australian and US politics chat.

Mel was busy with a client and joined in halfway through and we solved the earth's climate change issue and saved the human species in about 25 minutes of intelligement podcastural genius because we know exactly what the hell we're talking about. Trust us!

We also discuss our admiration for Western Australia's tinpot dictator (as irony would have it, he's eased the hard border closure TODAY in the time between our recording and posting the episode, but what the hell...), we discuss the recent verdict in WA's Claremont serial killer trial, the passing of one of our childhood sporting heroes, Dean Jones... and plenty more.

Then we go down a huge rabbit hole of conspiracy theories (or questions) that we find interesting, and it's a conversation that has to be heard to be believed... unanswered questions mainly about the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks: World Trade Center twin towers, building 7, the pentagon... we even discuss theories about JFK.

We also discuss the social media rant by Candace Owens who brought up some eye-opening statistics to demonstrate that things may not be quite what the media would have you believe. We touch on the SpaceX launch to the International Space Station and the 76th anniversary of the D-Day landings at Normandy during World War II. We also have an interesting conversation where Mel gives his extensive insight into gun laws in Australia, particularly in Western Australia, and what the requirements are to purchase, own, store and use a firearm in WA. And we end with the brilliant mind of British writer and philosopher, Alan Watts: "You are Eternal the Universe". Is it necessary, and will those powers be retracted once the pandemic dies down or will this become more common in a changing society? Comparing what we're seeing with the United States' reaction after 9/11 (we promise, this is not a conspiracy podcast!). Will we be in lockdown soon and do we really need it here? Disgraceful behavior by Qantas backstabbing its Australian workforce. Some praise for the politicians dealing with such a difficult situation. Simon shares past experience of toxic workplace culture. How business owners can respond and innovate in a slowing down of the economy and what they can be doing to work ON their business if they can't operate as normal, including getting their web and social media channels sorted, the potential for remote working to become much more common in future, as well as how to maintain the human interaction and social element of remote working.
