In a stark warning from New York, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong has urged restraint in the escalating conflict between Israel and Lebanon, emphasizing that "Lebanon cannot become the next Gaza." Hundreds of Qantas engineers are set to launch significant strike action across Australia over the next two weeks, potentially disrupting flights in all major capitals. The industrial action, starting tomorrow in Melbourne, comes after years of wage freezes despite Qantas reporting record profits.The latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) reveals that the annual inflation rate, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), has fallen to 2.7% in August 2024, down from 3.5% in July.
