'People are starting to say, it's is great that it's so closely associated with Harry? Do we need him anymore?' he says. 'In two years time we have an Invictus Games in Britain. Now you would expect members of the Royal Family to be there, and they'd want to be, because it's such a good cause but with Harry involved it makes it very awkward and off-putting to them.'

He adds: 'Sorry, it sounds bad to say, but it would probably benefit from his departure in that sense.'
