Over a decade ago when she found out she was pregnant, she was overjoyed. An older mum. She eagerly awaited the arrival of her eldest daughter Violet.

Violet’s birth was difficult. She was born with a hole in her heart, but despite spending months in hospital she survived.

Then when she was 15 months old, she died.

An aspiring jazz musician and entrepreneur she met her stalker after a chance encounter on a night out when she was just 19.

In 50% of stalking cases in the UK today involving female victims, the stalker fits into the "rejected lover" category. Where the stalkers wish to pursue a romantic relationship with their victim.

This is what happened to Kerri. After telling him that she did not wish to pursue a relationship, Kerri's stalker wouldn't take no for an answer. He turned up at her work, turned up at her home. He constantly called - and on occasions Kerri feared for her life.

Hosted by award nominated journalist Lucinda Borrell, this weeks Elbows Out (part one) Kerri and Lucinda talk about the physiological impacts of being stalked, how victims have to 'self-cancel' to remain safe and the feelings of shame that can emerge when you are the one being stalked.

The pair also discuss the devastating impact stalking had upon Kerri's music career just as her star was staring to rise, the difficulties Kerri and law enforcement faced when catching the stalker and how the support of friends and community was key to her survival, and how her support network eventually helped get him arrested.
