A member of the Navajo (Diné) Nation, Jensen shares his journey as a parent—shaped by his cultural roots, beliefs, and the transformations he experienced while supporting his daughter.

Without initial vocabulary or reference points, he and his partner learned to listen, question, and grow—drawing in part from Indigenous perspectives where gender exists on a broader spectrum.

He reflects on the early years, the learning process, and the importance of community support, as well as the role parents play as allies and advocates.

Together, they explore identity, transmission, and what it truly means to love and support your child.

Sylvie déroule le fil de leur histoire familiale, en revisitant les instants charnières qui ont transformé leur regard et leur lien, mais surtout le chemin qu’elle a choisi d’emprunter, celui d’une mère qui décide de comprendre, d’apprendre et de marcher aux côtés de son enfant.

Enseignante et doctorante en éducation inclusive, elle raconte aussi comment son parcours, ses recherches et ses étudiant·e·s ont peu à peu ouvert son horizon sur la diversité — comme autant de signes discrets qui l’ont préparée, sans qu’elle le sache encore, à accueillir pleinement son propre enfant.

Avec sensibilité, elle partage des pistes concrètes pour que l’école devienne un lieu plus sûr, plus juste, plus accueillant pour les jeunes trans, un espace où chacun·e peut grandir sans crainte.

From the very first moments, emotion flows between them: two mothers recognizing each other, carried by the same vulnerability and the same love. Becca shares her child’s journey, who affirmed his identity at a very early age, along with the questions, fears, and learning that accompanied their family along the way.

She also speaks about how this experience changed her — a new way of looking at the world, making room for curiosity, and welcoming her child as he is. Between losses, discoveries, and encounters, she describes a path that was sometimes unsettling, yet deeply transformative.

Originally from Nicaragua, Alba shares her journey as a mother shaped by love, but also by loneliness and a lack of guidance, at a time when very few resources existed to support a child’s transition. Faced with that silence, she chose to learn, to get involved, and to help create paths so that other parents would not have to walk alone.

She speaks about fear, the feeling of loss, the words that take time to understand, and the strength that comes from support between parents. Over time, these meeting spaces have become essential places where families can learn, grow, and transform as well.

With France and Chelsea, she discusses the complexity of these journeys, the nuances between gender identity and sexual orientation, and the irreplaceable role parents play in their children’s safety, confidence, and well-being.

France partage les questions qu’elle se pose comme mère d’une femme transgenre adulte — des questions qu’elle ne peut pas toujours poser directement à sa fille. De son côté, Chelsea raconte son propre parcours et sa relation avec ses parents.

Ensemble, elles parlent d’amour parental, de perceptions sociales, de ce que signifie « accompagner » son enfant… et des chemins très différents qui mènent à mieux comprendre la transition de genre.
