Introducing 'Watching Two Detectives': A Gripping New Podcast

A new podcast titled 'Watching Two Detectives' is set to launch, hosted by retired New South Wales homicide detectives Scott Rogan and Peter Hogan. Initially conceived to explore old case files each episode, the podcast's direction shifted when they covered the murder of Michael Furlong. This case transformed the first episode into a full season titled 'If Tomorrow Never Comes.' The podcast embodies the emotional journey of the detectives and the victim's son, Luke, who had long awaited closure. An External CONundrum

In the last episode, we left the Victims, unraveling the mess of Barry's Ponzi scheme and with little help from the Serious Fraud Office, they were left to do the legwork individually, because of course at that stage, they had no way of connecting with any of the other Victims.

It was a lonely, isolating and panic-filled limbo. And the key to discovering if any of their money was safe, seemed to boil down to one little word ……External

The InCONceivable Truth

In the last two episodes, we heard the stories of many of the victims as it led up to the date, the Serious Fraud Office raided Authorized Financial Advisor, Barry Kloogh’s Dunedin offices. But before we pick up where we left off with those stories, there is one more story I want to tell you…..

Meet Garry and Mary, their story is similar to many of the other victims of Barry Kloogh….with an added sting in the tail!

Of the 12 charges that Barry KLoogh pled guilty to charge number 12 related just to the fraud of Karyn and Chris Churcher. Now to put that in perspective, keep in mind, there are 81 victims in the case. So to have one of the 12 charges relate to only two victims, Barry had to have done something different, something bespoke…..turns out when it comes to cons, one size doesn't fit all.

This episode, we peel back another layer of the Ponzi onion that Barry Kloogh planted way back, like way, way, way back…..almost 40 years earlier.

Dr Sohom Das weighs in with his expertise as a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, unpacking just what makes a Con Artist tick.

And we follow just how Adrienne’s path goes from client of Barry’s to employee….

The foundation for Barry Kloogh’s Ponzi scheme was laid so long ago that the sitcom M.A.S.H was likely still releasing weekly episodes. Only Barry knows when his offending really started but one thing we do know is that he started digging those foundational footings for his house of cards, right back at the beginning of his career in the eighties.

And how do I know this? Well, that's when my Parents -in -Law, David and Noeline crossed paths with him….
