In what started as noticing bikes in disrepair at clients homes, Tom found a need in the community that falls right in line with his passion of bicycles. There are hundreds if not thousands of kids in our community that don't have bikes, who are left out when it comes times to jump on their bike with their friends. Not only that a bike is a great form of transportation without having to deal with the burden of a car.

When they returned home Heather began brewing Kombucha in the kitchen and testing different recipes on her family and friends. She enjoyed it so much they eventually began brewing commercially in 2013 and she removed herself from her day job of being a teacher to an entrepreneur. Since then the team at Bare Culture Kombucha has managed to scale distribution to many major grocery stores and restaurants all over Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and Montana.

“How do you not let the death of your son define who you are? I will always be Nick’s Mom” says Theresa Hart, Gold-Star Mother of Nicholas Newby who tragically lost his life while serving for the Army in 2011.

Theresa shares her journey of sending her son off to Iraq, to ultimately lose him to a roadside IED just weeks before he was set to come home.

Undoubtedly she and her family was shaken from the loss of Nick, but she wouldn’t sit on the sidelines for long before the opportunity arose to help Nick’s Brothers and Sisters who have served our country to support our freedoms.

Her support for those who reached out to her in the wake dealing with the loss lead her to start the local non-profit, Newby-Ginnings. Today, Newby-Ginnings has helped serve thousands of Veterans in our community and will continue to do so with the support of the community.

Nikki Conley owner and creator of Athol Orchards hasn’t always followed her dream. After getting bounced from job to job in the corporate world she and her husband Eric decided to follow her childhood dream. This is when they started Athol Orchards. While the farm will be a constantly evolving ecosystem right in Athol, they will continue to grow, educate, and entertain residents. Whether it be bringing the family out to make your own fresh pressed cider on a crisp fall morning, or buying some amazing Apple Cider Syrup while attending one of the local farmer markets Nikki’s love for her craft blasts through the microphone in this interview!

With the help of his brother Mark and later teaming up with one of the best chefs around Adam Hegsted they have hit the ground running with Republic Kitchen and Taphouse. Tom shares with us how they brought their vision to life, and hacked knowledge of Adam to bring him on board to help succeed as neither Tom or Mark had experience in running a restaurant or pub.

Doug Okuniewicz – The Greene Idaho Foundation shares how they have donated nearly 1 million dollars to local charities and non-profits

The Greene Idaho Foundation is a proud non-profit organization who supports care givers on the front lines in our community with direct cash donations and with in-kind donations such as providing facilities for non-profits events and fundraising. As they should be proud because they have donated nearly 1 MILLION dollars to local charities and non-profits. They find a way to make a meaningful impact in our community by providing volunteers the proper tools to be able to execute. With their approach the foundation is allowed to be nimble in how the funds are directed. This allows for contributions to charities when the money is most needed, and or special situations arise.
