Raven gets a case of Limitless Brain, but it has its consequences. And, of course, Clarke cuts Bellamy off during an emotional conversation, because this show wants us to suffer, too.

Skaikru tries to maintain good relations with the grounders, while racing to create safe shelter against a nuclear fallout, and managing who knows key information about the impending threat. Also, there's the most romantic scene ever created in fiction, which mostly involves characters writing each other's names down.

Megan tells us what the most perfectly-sized state in America is.

Ep 35: The Danish Girl

The Danish Girl is a fictionalized retelling of the life of Lili Elbe, a trans woman in 1920's Europe, and one of the first people to undergo sex reassignment surgeries. We talk a lot about identity and gender, what is biographical versus what is imagined, and how vehemently we disagree on the importance of setting. Jenna highlights the worst visual metaphor she has ever seen, and Megan explains the joy of being part of the queer community.

Neither of us can remember exactly what species of rodent played a pivotal role in the novel.

We consider whether this kind of venture will always result in personal epiphany.

Then you'll feel right at home in this novel by Nicholas Sparks. Jenna takes issue with some medical details. Megan doesn't trust the puppies. We are probably unnecessarily mean to both the author and the leading actors.

Content warning: For part of this story, a character is in a coma, so we discuss medical/hospital-related things. We also briefly talk about some workplace sexual harassment that happens in the book, from about 39:15 to 42:30.

Ep 20: Slaughterhouse-Five

Slaughterhouse-Five is the most notable of Kurt Vonnegut's novels, and tells the story of Billy Pilgrim as he hops around in time, reliving various points in his life. Megan agrees with the assertion that time is a construct. Jenna loves the comforting nihilism of "so it goes." We get a little too deep, but we also complain about dog continuity, so all-in-all it evens out.

Content warning: this story heavily features World War II and the bombing of Dresden, so there's discussion of war-related violence throughout the episode, although we don't get too graphic.
