If we narrow the conversation down to emissions, we have to talk about one of the top three contributors to greenhouse gas emissions: transportation. This means commercial vehicles have the potential to make the most impact on climate change if deployed in a sustainable and efficient manner. Mike Branch is the Vice President of Data and Analytics at Geotab. He talks about AI and its ability to uncover inefficiencies to help boost decarbonization.

Hosted on Acast.
When a machine can perform tasks that normally require humans, and potentially mimic or surpass them, this can be referred to as “artificial” intelligence. But when human ingenuity is applied to AI, it opens up a world of possibilities. This is currently evident in degrading ecosystems, climate change, food insecurity and a pandemic, to name a few. Unfortunately, not enough of this technological advancement is being applied to Biodiversity loss. Dr. Graham Taylor is a Professor and Canada Research Chair of Machine Learning at the School of Engineering at the University of Guelph, Research Director at the Vector Institute and Canada CIFAR AI Chair. He talks about the importance of protecting biological diversity, pushing boundaries with AI, and driving future behaviours to improve life.

Hosted on Acast.
