Sheeva Weil is a trainee Clinical Psychologist starting at Herts in September. She describes her ethnicity as "Brown", but more specifically is mixed White (French & Dutch) and Asian (Malaysian-Indian). She's not actually from the UK and grew up travelling overseas. As such, it has been quite a process of adapting to British norms (whatever those are). She has unsurprisingly faced racism in the course of her work; and co-founded the Collective for Asian Psychological Therapists due to feeling disillusioned about the lack of diversity in the profession. She is outspoken, driven, enthusiastic and has an inordinate love for sous-entendres.

Vanessa has been working in mental health for five years and is particularly interested in empowering others to manage and optimising their mental well-being. She has worked with leading organisations such as Virgin Group Ltd, BBC, NHS, House of Commons and Crown Prosecution Service. Vanessa has facilitated creative mental health educational workshops and events across the country in Higher education, corporate organisations and places of worship, as well as one to one well-being sessions. Vanessa is also a creative writer and has had experience in acting and directing stage plays. She has previously written and featured in productions for local audiences in the UK.

As a creative and an advocate for mental health, she decided to merge her two platforms together to establish the organisation Inside Out UK, which combines psychoeducation with creativity to increase mental health awareness and aims to help people reduce their risk of developing severe mental health disorders.

He believes that a patient’s care comes first so he strives for continuous professional improvement. His experience in Psychology ranges from working in talking therapies services’ for both young people and adults and working in Bali, Indonesia as part of the management team of a mental health organisation, an experience which he describes as eye opening, thought provoking, and character building. Obss is a BAME lead in his current service which includes working towards improving outcomes for BAME service users through outreach and changing service policy.

Ashley is a Black British woman originally from Zimbabwe and South Africa. She is currently an Assistant Psychologist in a Talking Therapies service for adults. She has also worked across Learning Disability services in both inpatient and community settings; Older adult services, and with children diagnosed with Autism. Ashley holds an MSc in Foundations of Clinical Psychology. She has a keen interest in making psychological knowledge more accessible. She is the founder of ThoughtsAtTheMic a podcast aimed at destigmatising mental health issues within the Black communities. Lennicia Huntley, is a Mixed Black, Assistant Psychologist currently working in a Specialist CAMHS for children open to social care. She has previously worked as a Research Assistant, Support Worker, and Mentor. Her Research and Assistant Psychologist experience spans the voluntary/community/social enterprise (VCSE) sector, NHS, and local authority. She began working as an honorary Research Assistant during her undergraduate degree, and has spent almost 4 years as an Assistant Psychologist whilst mentoring young people and gaining conference speaking opportunities abroad (UAE). She has an MSc. in Applied Clinical Psychology, and currently co-organises an aspiring clinical psychologists group for Black applicants.
