Lily is a harpist originally from Switzerland but has been living in the Netherlands for 8 years. We met when we were studying together in our Master programmes and we sat down to record this episode where we talk about perfectionism, leaving the classical world, finding her own artistic voice and the ups and downs of the creative process. I'm so lucky to call Lily a very close friend, someone who's been a massive source of support and inspiration for me in my own process, so sitting down to record this episode was doubly special!

Ella Jarman-Pinto is a critically acclaimed composer, described in 2020 as ‘one of the UK’s most exciting music-makers’ by Classic FM and recognised by the Women of the Year Lunch 2021.

Ella’s focus is on positive-change storytelling, collaborating with artists who reject the phrase ‘this is how things are done here’. We had an absolute blast chatting together, we laughed SO much and it was such a joy to talk to her.

6. Djuwa Mroivili - storytelling, claiming back time, performing as a dominatrix

Djuwa Mroivili is a Dutch pianist and performer from Amsterdam who poses on stage as a vulnerable storyteller, and uses music, words and body, among other things to tell her stories. Although she is trained as a classical pianist, she does not shy away from being critical of the classical music tradition and the role of (educational) institutes in it. You're in for a treat with this episode as we talk about telling stories, hair, fashion, claiming back time and even the time that Djuwa performed as a dominatrix in one of her concerts. There's a little bit of everything here!

Her fascination for human interaction and development led her to becoming a haptotherapist and now performance coach. In this episode of the Authentic Artistry Podcast, I am joined by Berlin-based saxophonist and improviser, Henry Weekes. We talk about institutionalisation of music and performance, telling your own stories through music, identity, vulnerability and finding your place in a new city and music scene.

Henry Weekes is a saxophonist, DJ and events producer based in Berlin. He plays an eclectic range of music, ranging from dance music to jazz and free improvisation whilst combining elements of his Brazilian heritage, with the aim of mixing genres, blending sounds and bringing people together.
