„Bat Chats“ begleitet die Entstehung der neuen Tanzperformance „Bat Dances“ der Choreografin Kareth Schaffer und des Komponisten Jonas Hauer, die im August 2026 beim Festival „Tanz im August“ in Berlin uraufgeführt wird. Wir untersuchen zunächst, wie Fledermäuse – die beliebtesten nachtaktiven Säugetiere überhaupt – die Welt wahrnehmen und sich durch ihr bewegen. Anschließend werden die künstlerischen Strategien, mit denen dieses wissenschaftliche Wissen in ein Tanzstück umgesetzt wird, anhand von Interviews und Radioexperimenten beleuchtet. Dabei überlegen wir, wie wir dieses Werk zu einem ästhetisch stimmigen Erlebnis sowohl für sehende als auch für sehbehinderte Zuschauer*innen machen können. Dieser Podcast ist sowohl auf Englisch als auch auf Deutsch.
