Plymouth Argyle come away from Stevenage with a hard-earned point after a 1–1 draw on the road.

Argyle were the better side in the first half, but it was Stevenage who burst out of the blocks after half-time, taking the lead with their first chance on 53 minutes. The hosts then enjoyed a strong spell of pressure until a triple substitution on 63 minutes completely shifted the momentum.

The return of Caleb Watts changed the game instantly. Just five minutes later, a free-kick won by Watts and some clumbsy defending led to the equaliser, finished calmly by Malachi Boateng after quick thinking from Watts. From there, Argyle pushed on and looked for a second, but couldn’t quite find a breakthrough.

Stevenage finished strongly in the final 10–15 minutes, with a crucial late save from Conor Hazard ensuring the points were shared.

Another scrappy contest, but a performance Argyle can take plenty of positives from. A strong away showing, a fourth consecutive away game unbeaten, and yet another fightback from a goal down. Since the run began away at Port Vale on 22 November, Argyle have taken 10 points from 12 on their travels (3 wins, 1 draw), plus an EFL Trophy win away at Leyton Orient.

The league campaign gets off to the worst possible start at Home with a defeat to Barnsley. An own goal from Wiredu that even a striker would have been proud off. Two more defensive blunders gave the victory too easily to Barnsley.

There were positives though and you have to just wipe the slate clean. Caleb Watts was put into the Number 9 position ahead Oseni and boy did he take the opportunity with both hands. A MOTM performance and hitting the net twice even if the first was disallowed.

Bradley Ibrahim and Xavier Ameachi also shining int he game. When Argyle turned it on the passages of play were exciting to watch. But clearly there is still 3-4 positions where we need to strengthen. The striker side though wasn't as obvious as an experienced L1 centre back.

Andrea Gray secures a point for Plymouth Argyle after twice going behind. Another early goal conceded put Argyle on the back foot as Watford dominated the opening spell. Not long after Watford took the lead Andre Gray levelled for Argyle with a strike Rooney would have been proud of! Just before the break Watford took a two goal lead before deep into injury time and with seconds to goal Gray snatched the points away from Watford with seconds to go.

Argyle fell to yet another high score defeat away this time to Leeds United. Although Rooney wasn't expecting much from this game and the strategy was to defend our box, we crumbled in an 8 minute period. Lots of players getting a call up and some rested for the Tuesday game at home to Portsmouth. The dissapointing thing though was zero anything from Argyle. Nothing even registered on the XG! That's a first sadly for Argyle and Wayne Rooney.

Preston took control of the game as Plymouth Argyle once again conceded first and struggled to get back into it. Looking like rabbits caught in headlights, it was very concerning and similar to recent away games. However, a goal by Issaka got Argyle back into the game, and they never looked back. Taking the game to Preston, Argyle showed the fight that had been missing for most of the match. Gray pulled another back after a great cross from Bali Mumba, before Whittaker secured a point in injury time. Although it wasn’t pretty, coming back from 3-0 down shows that this set of players can still pull it together!

It's the Late Late Show again for the Greens! - Plymouth Argyle V Blackburn Rovers

It was yes another late late show for Plymouth Argyle as they rescued what was deservedly all three points at home to Blackburn Rovers. Another dominant display for the most part had Argyle take the lead through Michael Obafemi to get his first goal for the greens. However yet again we couldn't capitalise on all the possession and were denied some great efforts by the Blackburn goalkeeper. Late drama with 10 minutes to go had, what Blackburn thought, was a point to take back up the North. Wayne Rooney also received a Red Card for kicking a water bottle into the crowd after a foul not given on Hardie in the build up.

With Blackburn trying to hold on, 10 minutes later, in the 97th minute of injury time Morgan Whittaker gets back on the score sheet with a delightful header to take all three points and sending the Home Park stadium and Green Army wild.

The Late Late Show again from Plymouth Argyle and Wayne Rooney sees the greens take 9pts from a possible 15 against top sides.

Plymouth Argyle Football Club secured all three points at home to Luton Town Football Club on a Friday night SkyTV hosted live match at Home Park. An all round dominant and defiant display from Wayne Rooney's Plymouth had them taking the lead withing 7 minutes after some early pressure from The Haters. Even with giving away far too many corners for our liking, Luton Town couldn't Capitalise and with Cissoko coming on as a substitution this time a run by the magnificent Darko Gyabi from his own 18yrd box to the oppositions slotting a pass onto Cissoko who struck early to put the ball into the back of The Hatters net.

Luton did get a goal immediately back with a well taken shot by Viktor Moses but Cissoko then secured all three points for Argyle after two incredible tackles to win the ball from star man Lewis Gibson. An all round dominant, controlled performance from Argyle where every man played a huge part. Rooney ball is really starting to show itself and we're liking it!

We as the Block 9 Podcast talk about our first win of the 24/25 EFL Championship campaign. This wasn't just any win it was a win against then table toppers Sunderland AFC.

Sunderland had the better of the halves but didn't capitalise. However a diabolical decision to award a penalty gave them the lead. But it was the second half where argyle dominated in large spells and the pressure soon told. No sooner were Argyle 2 up and then a late push from Sunderland awarded them an equaliser. When it seemed Sunderland might then go on to snatch all 3 points, up stepped captain fantastic to slot a deflected shot saved by Sunderland's keeper into the back of the net sending Home Park into raptures!

What a game and experience!

Felt like a win - Queens Park Rangers V Plymouth Argyle 👊

Plymouth Argyles second away game at Queens Park Rangers had Wayne Rooney's side share the spoils in a game where they were down to 10 men at the half hour mark.

A frustrated Wayne Rooney watched his side go a goal down within two minutes from a corner. Argyle were not rattled this time like they were away to Sheffield Wednesday however. Dominating the rest of the first half with some good ball possession it took a wonder goal from Morgan Whittaker 25 yards out to level up for Argyle. Frustratingly moments later Adam Forshaw with a needless foul collected a second yellow card reducing Wayne Rooney's Argyle to 10 men. Rangers failed to capitalise on the extra man advantage and although they had the better of the chances in the first half Argyle dominated the possession.

The second half did see Rangers trying to utilise that advantage but frustrated by a man of the match performance from Plymouth Argyles Connor Hazard in goal. Wayne Rooney tried to change things up with attacking substitutions on the 60m mark but even with the relentless pressure from QPR right until the final whistle, grit and determination rewarded Plymouth Argyle with a share of the points. Not withstanding late in the game Freddie Issaka receiving a straight red reducing Argyle further to 9 men for the last minutes of the game.

Overall, further signs of improvement from Wayne Rooney's Plymouth Argyle. The feeling from that game was like it felt like a win considering the circumstances of the game. We go marching on! 👍👊💚.

Our first game of the season at Home had a much improved Wayne Rooney Plymouth Argyle take on Hull City. Both clubs with new managers none more so than the great Wayne Rooney with a serious point to prove after the opening game defeat to Sheffield Wednesday. Rooney and the Argyle faithful whitnessed a vast improved performance from the team and if it wasn't for some brilliance by Coyle for Hull City Argyle would have secured all three points. In the ends the spoils were shared between both teams. We as the Block 9 Podcast discuss that game and we have guest come on to also give their views.

Our first game of the season sees us heading up to Sheffield to start out 24/25 season campaign and well it wasn't the best of starts to Rooney's tenure! Outclassed and out thought by Danny Rhol and Wednesday who pressed from the whistle and never gave the Argyle players a chance to re-group all game. It was a very poor show thought from the Pilgrims. Lets hope this is a game that you just write off as "one of those" but it won't detract from those who will say I told you so with Rooney. But although we as The Block 9 Podcast were downbeat, stunned you might say, we don't get carried away. There are concerns and the players and Rooney need to turn it around quickly to prove that both can do us proud this season.
