One day after signing C.J. Uzomah and Laken Tomlinson, Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh set their sights on the defensive side of the ball. While the team had interest in Marcus Williams and Stephon Gilmore, the two decided against overpaying and instead found value in D.J. Reed and Jordan Whitehead. The Jets began this offseason with seven primary holes. They have since filled four of them.

It's been a rough two years for the Jets, who have won just six of 33 games. The team does seem headed in the right direction, though, after Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas added Zach Wilson, Elijah Moore, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Corey Davis and Michael Carter during the 2021 NFL offseason.

Now, though, the team needs to take a major step. The Bengals, like New York, struggled for two years, too, before making it to the Super Bowl this year behind the promising play of Joe Burrow and JaMarr Chase. Could the Jets, with another strong offseason, do something similar in 2022? Maybe not Super Bowl, but the playoffs?
