A few weeks ago I went to the account, which has 46 followers and discovered master taxidermist Matt Dockstader. I reached out to Matt and asked him to come on the show to tell us everything about taxidermy. Matt is a solid dude, a guy's guy who hunts and cooks BBQ and is an expert at his trade, and I am delighted that he came on the show to share his passion with us.

Kevin was extremely drunk, Sal was toasted, and I was off on three Celsiuses and the audio is especially bad on this one, but how about you pay extra close attention and learn a thing or two about what it takes to become a master of a craft.

I've been trying to figure out if I'm shadowbanned on X and TikTok or if I just suck. Feels like I'm spinning my wheels on social media trying to get any engagement. I know social media is silly, but is it at this point?

The TV was the "idiot box" when it first came around. Prior to TV, books were even seen as a waste of time. However, these mediums became mainstays of arts, culture, and the dissemination of information over time. Social media has become so ubiquitous at this point that the argument could be made that it should function as a public utility. Social media has become a major source of news and entertainment, but all of us that use it are beholden to the algorithm, rules, and regulations of these platforms. In order to get any engagement you have to abide by an arbitrary set of rules that you may or may not be aware of. It is dubious what constitutes a community violation on these platforms, and the rules are different depending on the user. A user with a smaller following is subject to stricter guidelines, whereas accounts with hundreds of thousands or millions of followers seemingly can do as they please.

I can only speculate that at some point I posted something that got flagged by some program and now my profiles are being throttled or shadowbanned by these platforms, or I just suck and make bad content. But how can what I do be any worse than a guy laughing while he points at someone else's post?

Also, I've gotten into live streaming on YouTube. I did the first one last Sunday and it was fun. It's not video games or anything. I just hang out and talk to folks in the chat and look stuff up on the Internet. I'm bad at video games, but I'm not against streaming them once I figure out how streaming works. I'm using Streamyard for the live streams right now and it is simple and intuitive. I downloaded some streaming software so I can do more advanced stuff and it might as well be hieroglyphics. No clue what I'm looking at when I pull up Streamlab. I don't know how anything in this world works or how to do anything.

Maybe there's another hosting service I can use at some point, but for now I guess I have to split up the audio for anything I do that's too big for Acast. I think that helps me. I've been focused on the YouTube channel, but I figure a lot of people like to listen to podcasts so it would mean a lot if you rated and reviewed the show. Theseus is the new news-centric solo show I do on the Patreon. Maybe "news-centric" isn't the right description. Information-centric, maybe? I like reading articles and different kinds of journalism. I'm putting this episode up for free as a taste and because it is one of the dumbest things I've done trying to understand something smart. This felt unhinged as I was doing it and someone I showed a couple minutes of this to said to me, "How can you possibly expect anyone to sit through more than 3 seconds of this, let alone charge them for it?" So I'm putting this one up for free.

For this episode, I was researching the three scientists who won the Nobel prize in chemistry this year for their work on Quantum Dots, and I went back to a paper on quantum theory published in 1937 to give myself a foundation before diving into new discoveries. This episode covers the 1937 study on quantum theory and the current developments in quantum dot nanotech.

If anyone knows anything about science, feel free to reach out and let me know how I did on this one. For those that don't know, my first four years of college were spent as a biochemistry major. I was really interested in organic chemistry, physics, and calculus, but too drunk and lazy and not Chinese enough to understand those subjects.
