In November 2025, 18-year-old Anna Kepner boarded the Carnival Horizon cruise ship with her family for a six-night Caribbean vacation. On the final sea day, she was found dead, hidden under her bed inside her own cabin. Surveillance footage reportedly showed only one person entering and leaving the stateroom during that window: her 16-year-old stepbrother.

The FBI took over the investigation, and federal homicide charges were eventually filed against the minor suspect. On the night of January 6th, 1981, Lonene Rogers finished her work shift, picked up her two young children from the babysitter, and came home to an argument with her estranged husband. By morning, she was gone. No footprints in the snow. No activity on her Social Security number. Her hearing aids, glasses, purse, and car were all still there.

Lonene was a profoundly deaf woman from northwestern Pennsylvania who refused to let her disability define her. She was strong-willed and warm, a devoted mother, and by early 1981, she was finally ready to leave a troubled marriage and build a new life. Instead, she vanished in the middle of a blizzard and was never seen again.

For 44 years, her disappearance went unsolved. Her parents died without answers. Her children grew up without her. And her husband, Clinton "Bud" Rogers, maintained the same story: he woke up and she was simply gone.

In this episode, we trace Lonene's life from her childhood in Youngstown, Ohio, through the marriage that her own family saw warning signs in from the start to the night she disappeared and the search that turned up nothing. We also follow her daughter Alison, who spent decades trying to distance herself from the tragedy before deciding, in 2021, to dedicate herself to finding the truth. Alison's fight took her through court battles, advocacy for a proposed new law called Lonnie's Law, and years of pressure on investigators and the public alike.

In November 2025, that fight finally produced a result. After more than four decades of silence, Bud Rogers confessed.

This is Lonene's story, and it is also the story of a daughter who refused to let her mother be forgotten.

Twenty-year-old Kaylene Marie Oehling disappeared from Etna, Pennsylvania, on January 10, 2020. What followed were years of confusion, frustration, and heartbreaking silence. In August of 1996, 11-year-old Trudy Appleby vanished from her neighborhood in Moline, Illinois, leaving behind one of the most haunting mysteries in the Quad Cities. There was no sign of a struggle, no clear witnesses, and no immediate answers. For nearly three decades, her case remained unsolved.

But behind the headlines, Trudy’s father never stopped fighting. From the very beginning, he insisted he knew who was responsible. While police chased false leads and dead ends, he pointed to the same small circle of men—names he repeated year after year, long before investigators finally confirmed them as persons of interest.

In August 2025, almost exactly 29 years after Trudy disappeared, an arrest was finally made. The breakthrough came too late for her father, who passed away without seeing justice—but it proved he had been right all along.

This is the story of Trudy Appleby: a child gone without a trace, a family’s relentless search for truth, and the decades-long fight to hold those responsible accountable in the Quad Cities’ most infamous missing child case.

In the year leading up to Journey’s birth, his father became consumed by conspiracy theories and developed a dangerous plan to raise an entirely plant-based baby. On January 3rd, 1971, sixteen-year-old Angela Brandt was curled up in front of her family’s new color TV, getting settled back into their home located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, after having spent two weeks vacationing in Florida. 

That evening, Angela and her family were watching the TV show, The FBI. "Unknown Victim," Season 6, Episode 16, just aired. An episode where kidnappers abduct a young woman, mistakenly believing she is the daughter of a millionaire. At 6:43 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, Detective Justin Barlow’s phone rang. On the other end was his neighbor, Christopher Coleman sounding anxious. He had just returned from the gym and couldn’t get his wife, Sheri, to answer the phone. Something wasn’t right. That call would set off an investigation that would uncover one of the most chilling family tragedies in Columbia, Illinois. A small town located near St. Louis Missouri. In the heart of Michigan, a young girl named Calista Springer was reportably living in a world filled with mental and physical abuse at the hands of two adults who were referred as her parents. At the time of her death she was chained to her bed, left to die, unable to be freed- inside of a house where she was horribly treated, flames overtook the house as Calista struggled to escape the smoke that filled her lungs, struggling at every breath, knowing her fate. knowing no one would come save her from this evil torturous death. In March of 2020, Gretchen Anthony began sending texts to family and friends telling them she had tested positive for Covid-19. There was still so much unknown about the virus as the entire world began shutting down. Her family became highly concerned when they couldn’t get her on the phone. Many of the texts from Gretchen were filled with poor spelling and grammar. Then she stopped sharing her phone location with her 12 year old daughter. The last text anyone received from Gretchen said she was being transferred to a CDC covid site and would be placed on a ventilator, unable to communicate.
