Finally I built up the courage to ask Ellie and Louise Macnamara to be guests on Culture Fear.

I got to ask about the evolution of Heathers as a band, which I'm sure if you're a fan of any of their releases you'll understand both in terms of the music they were putting out as well as the way they functioned as a 'band'. I asked about their relationship with music growing up and whether their family holidays really included stop offs at DIY punk festivals and Heathers first shows and Dublin mixed bill punk shows. We also talk about the importance of the team around you, as well as the culture around fighting. It was super interesting and eye opening for me.

We also talk about Mary's love for Self Defense Family, the band she has played in for a long while and her dreams of the future making music with them. Her solo-ish project Mary and the Small Omission, as well as old bands like Troubled Sleep.

We also talk about the podcast Worth It that she edit's. Which was nice as he is the first guest I don't know personally or am at least a good friend of a good friend!Anyway. Speaking to Andy about his perspective of being an anarchism whilst navigating the huge juggernaut of the music industry was interesting. Especially in the middle of this pandemic we find ourselves in. I hope you all enjoy this.
Episode 20 sees Culture Fear step into new territory, with the first distance conversation recorded. I chat with Kathryn about her bands Fresh, cheerbleederz and Me Rex (oh and she even teases a new band!), growing up in London, getting to tour with her favourite bands, her relationship with her Irishness and like LOADS more. It was great. I hope you enjoy it too.I have decided to push my productivity during these strange times into recording episodes with people who I admire and who's lives seem interesting to me who I normally wouldn't be able to talk to in person due to geography, so there will be lots of episodes coming up over the next couple of weeks. If you like the podcast, please tell a pal or share it or sommat. His photos felt like a staple of the music scene I was a part of as a teenager, and it's been brilliant to see so much of Owen's work over the last decade and some. Talking to him about how he is able to make his passion his job was really interesting. As well as hearing how he keeps that passion strong too. I hope you enjoy this one, let me know!
Episode 7 is here! Kai (from episode 2) and i sit down and talk to Tim Dyson. You may know him better as Bod. He has been a mainstay in the London punk scene since the 80's. Usually these podcast revolve around a conversation with the guest about their experiences, but this one is different. Tim is an incredible story teller with an amazing life story to tell. It starts with his experiences of being so young and excited when punk broke in '77, to experiences of hitch hiking to see Crass all over the uk & being held at gunpoint by French police. We talk about addiction and punk's role in possibly helping with the situation. We cover A LOT! This episode is brilliant, if i do say so myself.Hit us up at @culturefear, Review us on iTunes, tell your friends.
I sit down & talk to Kaila Stone. It's a long one but it's brilliant! You may know of her as a mainstay of the London punk scene. You may know her from playing in bands like Nekra, Self Defense Family, ten speed bicycle & so many more. You may even know her from playing football for the Goldsmiths Uni's team! We talk about how she got into punk rock, realising she didn't want to go out drinking she wanted to stay indoors playing Sims, how she started playing music and where it's taken her since.. * Spoiler * it's taken her all over the world, making friends and playing shows.Let me know what you thought of this episode, we are @culturefear in all the regular places.
