Some sources said that Rev. Jackson led the protests, others said he was simply there, and others said that he even disapproved of the chant. According to an alleged eye witness, Rev. Jackson did not approve of the 500 college protestors’ chant, instead saying that western civics didn’t have to go, but it needed to make room for other cultural studies. Whatever the case may be, it is undeniable that his presence amplified the protest and thus the chant. And so, the sentiment still had the stated effect.
