Join experienced English Teacher Mr Baker as he discusses the poem The Sea Eats the Land at Home by Ghanaian author Kofi Awoonor with our Third Years and Lower Sixth Formers. For Mr Baker, literature and poetry are fundamentally concerned with human nature and real life where we are rarely faced with binary right and wrong decisions. It’s fascinating to hear the pupils engage with the text from a range of perspectives and watch their interpretation evolve as they learn more about the writer and his background. Building Batteries in Chemistry

In our latest episode we’re in the science labs with Head of Chemistry Mr Schofield teaching Second Years and Lower Sixth Formers about batteries. A former director at a city investment bank, Mr Schofield switched to teaching to help future generations of chemists fulfil their potential. For him, Chemistry is about getting hands on; ‘we do the theory, then apply it in practice, and it's a great way to learn.’ Around since 1799, batteries are everywhere in our day-to-day life and battery technology is key to providing a more sustainable and greener future – an essential topic for all today’s young scientists.
