In this episode, Martin and I chat about his history of playing drums which included him reaching grade 8 at a young age, but sadly due to problems with arthritis couldn't persue much in his playing career. So we naturally discussed his journey of working within the musical instruments industry and how he started working in a drum shop and has worked his way up in the world of musical instrument distribution within multiple companies to where he is today and how the industry has changed over the years.

We also discussed some interesting topics such as artist endorsements and what Artist Relations at drum companies look for in new artists and how artists should initially approach them with regards to applications etc. Martin also talked about how he organises the marketing side of things for Mapex including social media content and how difficult it can be to get it right. Overall, a really interesting conversation from another side of the drum world that doesn't often get covered on this show.

Denise explains that she had to record the drums for both bands because Motorhead drummer Philthy 'Animal' Taylor had broken his neck.

We also talked about playing shows with Saxon, Uriah Heep and Diamond Head after the pandemic and future plans for the band including upcoming tours with Alcatrazz in Europe and a new album. We also talked about Denise's favourite drum brands and past endorsements and find out that Denise never uses her own equipment anymore.

Frank also explained how he was unhappy being asked to perform live using Roland V-drums for his final tours with Fozzy in 2021 and how he much prefers playing on acoustic drums and cymbals, who doesn't though, right?

In this episode we talk about the origins of the Stray Cats, with himself (drums), Brian Setzer (guitar and vocals) and Lee Rocker (upbright double bass) forming in high school and mastering their craft playing 5 nights a week in their home of Long Island, migrating over to England and eventually becoming part of the London scene, playing shows and getting noticed which resulted in getting signed and having Dave Edmunds record their debut album!

We also talked a lot about his great friendship with Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead who he also had a rockabilly side project band with called HeadCat with Danny B. Harvey. He describes how the band ended up forming after a recording an Elvis Presley track for a tribute album. He also explains how he and Lemmy became neighbours which helped their friendship grow over the years and how he was with Lemmy when he sadly passed away on 28th December 2015 at the age of 70.

We also talked about Jim's favourite rockabilly drummers, living with actual cats, his favourite and most memorable moments with Lemmy, his drum endorsements Gretsch, Zildjian, Vic Firth, blues shuffle stick techniques, his upcoming rockabilly documentary and more.

We talk about his time in Soilwork and Dirk explains how he originally got the call from Dave Mustaine about auditioning for the Megadeth and what it's been like being the drummer of Megadeth so far.

Unfortunately, Dirk's sound quality isn't as great as normal, we didn't seem to have the best audio signal but I've tried my best to clean it up. I promise you it is definitely worth bearing with because otherwise it was such a fantastic interview.

In this episode, we delve into Ritch's history with the drums and how his early discovery and love of punk rock music led to him becomin obsessed with the drum kit and who his favourite drummers are and were. We talked about the making of the brilliant new chart topping album from The Wildhearts called '21st Century Love Songs' and how the writing process was much different because of the pandemic and lockdowns. Formed in late 2014 in South Wales, Peej (vocals, guitar), Benj (bass, vocals), Ryan (guitar) and Kob (drums, vocals), Punk Rock Factory combine everything you love about 1990s/2000s punk rock, and reimagine classic and hit songs like you’ve never heard them before. From Meat Loaf to Disney, nothing is off limits to them.

The band rehearse, write, record, mix, master and film everything themselves in one dedicated space that they affectionately call ‘The Sausage Factory’ and have no problem bringing friends along either. To date the band has had singers from bands such as Protest the Hero, Bowling for Soup, Mest, Rufio, Ten Foot Pole and more, provide guest vocals on tracks. Firmly cementing themselves as a punk rock household name.

After their first album ‘The Wurst Is Yet To Come’ gained over 1.3m streams on Spotify and an explosion of interaction on TikTok and other platforms, the band got to work on their second album ‘A Whole New Wurst’, consisting entirely of Disney classics with their unique special sauce added. After only two months the album gained over 2.4m streams, reached #48 in the UK album download charts and was played twice on BBC Radio 6 with Craig Charles, with the first play being the most requested song of the week.

With a heavy focus on digital content, especially TikTok & Instagram, Punk Rock Factory show no signs of slowing down and continue to grow faster each day with their TikTok alone now sitting at over 350,000 followers and 1.9 million likes.

I had a great conversation with Kob about the band but we also delved into more serious matters like depression, arthritis and other health scares!

Vinny is an American drummer and is still going strong as an active member of Last In Line. Following the death of frontman Ronnie James Dio in 2010, the original Dio lineup of Vinny on drums, bassist Jimmy Bain guitarist Vivian Campbell, and keyboardist Claude Schnell reunited along with vocalist Andrew Freeman to perform the Dio songs they originally recorded. The band released a studio album of original material without Schnell titled Heavy Crown in February 2016.

We had a fantastic conversation and discussed how to correctly pronounce his surname and why his brother Carmine Appice pronounces it differently, his back story of how he originally joined Black Sabbath, why the band thought his drum kit was too small and how we was asked to fill the drum throne multiple times afterwards. We also talked about his life on the road including some pranks conjured up by my dad Phil Campbell involving a horse during a tour with Heaven And Hell. I was also surprised to hear he currently uses and endorses a drum brand called Sawtooth and that he hosts a weekly show on his Facebook page and how he's taugh himself how to make studio recordings at home for various session projects. He also talked about his album and merch artwork but also how he has recently been displaying his art at exhibitions with his girlfriend Carla Harvey from the band Butcher Babies. Charlie also described how he got into releasing his own blend of coffee. Charlie also described why he has remained loyal to the drum companies he has endorsed since 1986 with exception of switching to Evans Drumheads after trying them out at a recording studio. We talk about the making of their new album 'Set The World On Fire' and how some of it was recorded at home during lockdown and recorded/produced by John Cornfield (Supergrass / Muse) and Mike Exeter (Judas Priest / Black Sabbath). He also talks about supporting Motorhead at the Eden Project and how great it was supporting Doro on tour in Germany in 2019. He talks about how he got hold of his first Natal drum kit and why he will always play Paiste cymbals. Jack also uses Ahead drumsticks and Evans drumheads. He also describes the outdoor gig that King Creature hosted at 'The Yard' which is a new venue in Cornwall. The band put on their own gig whilst adhering to the Coronavirus regulations which were present at the time.

He also talks about the heartbreaking story of their biggest fan 'Big Stu' who got diagnosed with terminal cancer and how the band made the decision to reform to host a few fund raising shows for his family in 2019.
