Mitch was overseas living it up but Levins carted his setup to the festival and interviewed Matty in the best scenario possible: behind a makeshift kitchen in the loudest part of a food and music festival, surrounded by drunk chefs who kept stealing the microphones.

On our ways home we received the news about our friend Jeremy Strode, an incredibly kind and generous chef who passed away early this week. He's someone who has appeared on the show in our early days and has probably inspired almost every other guest we've had on since. We'll speak about Jeremy and his legacy many, many times in the future but Mitch and I decided to record a short intro over the phone that we added to this episode this morning. Rest in peace Jeremy. Our love to his family, friends and fans.

What was supposed to be a civilised conversation about the best places to eat in Western Sydney is quickly derailed by a 50 minute shouting match that includes lunchboxes filled with kohlrabi, graffiti in restaurants and whether it's ok to use the word 'funky' when describing natural wine. Halfway through the episode we're joined by another special guest when Levins's one year old son Archie wakes up to add his two cents to the heated debate.

The Mitchen is a new weekly food podcast recorded at Mitch Orr's kitchen table in Sydney. Hosted by food writer/DJ Andrew Levins and chef Mitch Orr (ACME), each week they invite four mates from the food world over to discuss and make jokes about any recent big announcements in food and dining.

For our first episode we are joined by four talented and hilarious chefs - Mike Eggert (Pinbone), Analiese Gregory (ACME, ex-Quay), Kerby Craig (Ume) and Clayton Eggert (Automata, ex-Momofuku Seiobo). Together we mourn the recent closure of Pinbone, find out how to pronounce Clayton's new restuarant, react to the news of Noma hosting a pop-up restaurant in Sydney next year, argue over our favourite sandwiches and take a few shots at our good friend Dan Hong.
