Philipp Srock is a student at NTNU Gjøvik, researching beautification and how biometric models can handle it. In this episode, we dive a bit deeper into the use of biometrics. Together with two of Mobai's researchers, Hassan Askary and Tawsin Uddin Ahmed, Brage talks about deepfake detection, and something called inject attacks, which is various types of attacks against identity systems.

One of the challenges is staying ahead of the bad guys, who try to outsmart the biometric systems.

- This is an arms race, it's a cat and mouse chase. You make a better detector, they make a better generator. So we have to keep ahead. We have to keep evolving and countering new threats.

Face morphing and identity fraud

Bhanu Shrestha works with face morphing at NTNU Gjøvik. In this episode, Bhanu explains what face morphing is, how it is used for identity fraud and how we are working to combat is. Bhanu focuses at the interface between human cognition and artificial intelligence, and his research show some surprising results when it comes to humans detecting deepfakes. He also explains how the bad guys are using clever techniques to fool the detecting systems.
