Tonight, I randomly picked the Jim Carrey real-life comedy-drama "I Love You Phillip Morris." Join me as I watch it for the first time and share my review!

I Love You Phillip Morris (2009): Directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, "I Love You Phillip Morris" is a dark comedy-drama based on the true story of con artist Steven Jay Russell. Jim Carrey stars as Steven, a charismatic and flamboyant man who, after being imprisoned for his numerous scams, falls deeply in love with his fellow inmate, Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor). The film follows Steven's relentless and often outrageous efforts to break out of jail and reunite with Phillip, showcasing his cunning and resourcefulness. Despite its humorous tone, the movie also delves into themes of love, identity, and the lengths to which one will go for the person they adore. Join me as I delve into this cult classic for the first time and share my thoughts!

Bad Taste (1987): Directed by Peter Jackson, "Bad Taste" is a low-budget sci-fi horror comedy that follows a group of government agents tasked with defending Earth from an invasion by extraterrestrial aliens. The film is notable for its DIY aesthetic, with Jackson handling many aspects of production, including directing, writing, producing, and even starring in multiple roles.

Set in the small New Zealand town of Kaihoro, the plot revolves around a group of eccentric individuals, known as the Astro Investigation and Defence Service (A.I.D.S.), led by Derek (played by Peter Jackson). When a race of aliens arrives on Earth with the intention of turning humans into fast food, Derek and his team embark on a mission to thwart their plans and save humanity.

"Bad Taste" is characterized by its over-the-top gore, absurd humor, and creative special effects, all of which reflect Jackson's early filmmaking style. Despite its limited resources, the film has gained a cult following for its innovative approach to genre filmmaking and Jackson's ingenuity in bringing his vision to life on screen.

This weeks Film That I Own That I Haven't Watched (Yet) is one that i have watched before, in all honesty, but it was such a long time ago that I had basically forgotten it entirely and so it has found its way into my box of titles. From 1989 its Joe Dante's comedy The 'Burbs starring Tom Hanks, Bruce Dern, Rick Ducommun, Carrie Fisher and Corey Feldman.

It tells the hilarious yet farcical story of Ray Peterson (Hanks in another of his earlier comedic roles) who's staycation is ruined when he and his two neighbours (Dern and Ducommun) become obsessed with the creepy antics of the newest arrivals to the streets, the Klopeks.

This movie fell in between Dante's 2 successful Gremlins movies, but is presented in his usual whacky vision, with great comedic performances all around. But, what does Trev make of this movie? Listen now to hear his initial views and thoughts on The 'Burbs!

Watch or own your very own copy of The 'Burbs here - https://amzn.to/3Xq8CAQ

Films I Own But Haven't Watched Yet is a spin off podcast from Trev, the creator and co-presenter of WN MOVIE TALK PODCAST (formally known as We Need To Talk About Movies Podcast) and is a short movie review podcast in which Trev goes through his DVD and Bluray collection and views some of the titles that he hasn't got around to watching yet, and gives his initial response to the movie straight after the viewing.

Hosted on Acast.
