It's probably why there are still mermaid sightings now, if you're brave enough to venture down to the water's edge.</p><br><p>This episode, the first of Folkitory, takes a look at mermaids, from Mesopotamia through to the Victorians and all the way to the present.</p><br><p>Naturally, since recording this episode, I have discovered so much more.
