33. The Hanging Gale (1995)

After much clamoring and requesting of this title, the Girlies are finally tackling The Hanging Gale, the miniseries which not only features Paul, but also all three of his brothers! The four brothers star as a family of Irish farmers during the Great Famine, based on the McGanns' real family ancestry and developed by Stephen and Joe.

32. The Undertaker (2025)

After our wonderful surprise episode interviewing writer-director Michael Wright and star-producer Roger Barclay, the Girlies are back for a full-fledged episode discussing The Undertaker! (Sorry for those of y'all waiting on our Hanging Gale episode — this one's been in the works for quite some time!)

After waiting several years for it to get a US release, Maggie and Katie are very excited for you to hear their discussion on the film, which includes praising the film's production design, discussing its unexpectedly otherworldly undertones, and dissecting Paul's rare role in a proper tragedy.

31. Exhuming The Undertaker w/ Director Michael Wright & Producer/Star Roger Barclay

Surprise! The Girlies embarked on yet another side quest, this time taking a deeper look at Paul's latest role, The Undertaker, with writer/director Michael Wright and actor/producer Roger Barclay to celebrate the film's release in the US. Recorded back in February while the Girlies were at Gallifrey One, this special interview (which will be followed shortly by a proper episode on the film) discusses how they managed to land Paul for the lead role of Arthur Morel, working with the late Murray Melvin, Wright's miniature work on the film, and much, much more.

30. Lesbian Vampire Killers (2009)

[Susan Wokoma on Taskmaster voice] Episode 30, babyyyyyy! We're continuing out Pride Month coverage this week with one of the...let's say "less beloved" films in Paul's canon: the 2009 horror comedy Lesbian Vampire Killers. Clearly a rip-off of both Shaun of the Dead and An American Werewolf in London, the poorly-titled film stars Mathew Horne and James Corden as a couple of hapless lads tasked with taking down a vampire coven, with some help from Paul as the village vicar.

As it turns out, Maggie and Katie actually loved this one, so listen on for discussion of how the film utilizes popular vampire tropes, what we loved about it, and why Maggie's going to hell for saying Paul looks hot as a priest. Happy Pride Month 2025 y'all! To celebrate, the Girlies have chosen a couple of queer titles featuring Paul, and first up is B&B, the 2017 thriller co-starring Tom Bateman and Sean Teale about a couple of Londoners who end up trapped at a bed and breakfast with a homophobic owner and a rather unsavory fellow customer. Paul takes on a different kind of role in this film as the B&B's owner, Josh, a conservative Christian with his own unsavory ideas for the film's leading men.

Paul stars as the layabout face of a revolution in the series that's often considered his career-maker, alongside faces like Penelope Wilton and Jerome Flynn.

Paul stars as Stanley Bone, a real estate developer who may have ties to the murder of the week.

For (un)lucky episode number thirteen and the start of spooky season, Maggie and Katie are diving into all things undead with the loose Interview With the Vampire sequel, Queen of the Damned! While Paul doesn't get a chance to play a vampire himself (which saddens Mags greatly), we do get to see some other...interesting creatures of the night, which proved a fun adventure for the Girlies.

12. Give Us a Break (1983)

In a complete change of pace from last episode, we're rewinding all the way back from Paul's most iconic role to his very first, as genius snooker player Mo Morris in the television series Give Us a Break, co-starring Sharon Taylor and his future Hornblower co-star Robert Lindsay as Mickey, the wheeler-dealer scrub who wants to use him for personal gain.

11. Doctor Who: The Movie (1996)

It's here: the big one. The one you've all been waiting for. The big kahuna. That's right, in honor of co-host Katie's birthday, we're covering the Doctor Who TV Movie, better known as Paul's first appearance as his most iconic character, the Eighth Doctor. Alongside Daphne Ashbrook and Yee Jee Tso, Paul created a character that he's still playing twenty-odd years on, and one that became a foundation for our friendship not just as co-hosts, but as besties.

10. Sweet Revenge (2001)

9. Our Mutual Friend (1998)

We're getting into the big guns now. This week, we're covering the 1998 miniseries Our Mutual Friend, based on the novel of the same name by Charles Dickens. It's full of love, betrayal, deceit, and gossip as it follows a group of wealthy (and not so wealthy) socialites in 1860s London and the trial and tribulations they experience in daily life. Paul stars as the workshy & lethargic Eugene Wrayburn, self-described by the man himself as one of the best roles he's ever played

8. SOS: The Titanic Inquiry (2012)

This one's for all the girlies who were weirdly obsessed with the Titanic growing up: we're covering 2012's SOS: The Titanic Inquiry, which covers a fictionalized version of the inquiry into the sinking of the iconic ship, in which Paul stars as Sir Rufus Isaac, a British Trade member investigating whether the crew of the Californian could have saved more lives that fateful night.

Listen on for some real deep nerdery about the Titanic, as well as Paul's role in keeping the TV movie moving, and how much duty a story based on true events has to obeying that truth, rather than inventing circumstances.

6. Poirot (2003)
