Let's talk about Weapons.

 There are natural weapons, such as the talons and beak of a tarn, the venom of an ost, and the teeth of a larl. Then there are the constructed weapons, which we make because we are not born with them. These may be objects, or other things.

 1. What are the weapons of a Warrior, Scribe, Builder, Physician, and Initiate?

 2. What are the weapons of a society? Most Goreans of the lower castes are illiterate. does the absence of textuasl mass media mean thyat the weapons of a Gorean society differ profoundly from those of an Earth society, or only in a matter of degree?

We will explore several forms of allegiance as they exist in main continental Gorean culture.

Initially I propose a definitional sanity check:

What is allegiance? Is it statutory, or a cultural duty, or the voluntary act of a sovereign individual?

Common usages in English can be of any of these forms, to wit per Webster's:

 1: a: the obligation of a feudal vassal to his liege lord

    b(1): the fidelity owed by a subject or citizen to a

      sovereign or government

     (2): the obligation of an alien to the government under

      which the alien resides

 2: devotion or loyalty to a person, group, or cause

How do we see natural order, according to that definition, displayed in the Gorean novels?   The novels often seem to suggest that Natural Order can only be ignored for so long, before it will assert itself again, regardless of "human or supernatural laws. " Do you agree with that statement or disagree?"

The Sardar Fairs are a Gorean institution, and are held four times a year in the shadow of the Sardor Mountains, said to be home to the Priest-Kings. Surely, Norman based them, in part, on the Greek Olympics. As the Olympics were in ancient Greece, so the Sardar Fairs are to Gor, in terms of a truce for all participants (no violence is allowed in the Fairs), in terms of representatives sent from Cities to participate in contests of excellence, and in terms of the important exchanges of information and discoveries and texts amount the Castes of Builders, Physicians, and Scribes.

 I invite you to contribute to the festive renewal of our Gorean heritage. What have you learned and shared? If you are new, what are your impressions? If you've been here for awhile, what do you think we can do better in the coming year to explain the goodness of Gor to newcomers, instead of letting the haters scare them with lies?
