I think what makes rugby special is the people you meet, the relationships you build, the experiences you share, the places you go, and the memories you make.

I went to Amsterdam as coach of the Penguins men's XV squad. It was the first tour where the men and women went together. 

I met Vivian Bahlmann. She is incredible! She is positivity in human form. I absolutely loved getting to know her, and I've watched her journey from afar.

Late last year, I spoke to Ian Barr & Rob Boyns, the Captains of the Dodd1e'5 Gr4nd S7am Team. They had the mad idea of cycling from Murrayfield to Rome for the Scotland v Italy 6N match. If that wasn't daft enough, it will visit Dublin, Cardiff, London, Paris, Monaco & Pisa on the way. 2 days after recording, they called and asked if I wanted to join...

We're now 2 weeks away from departure, the team has visited Carrongrange school and Edinburgh University to engage with groups supporting our effort.

Prof Tom Gillingwater is an important member of the MND community working at the Euan Macdonald MND ResearchCentre, trying every day to make progress towards finding treatments and, eventually, a cure.

It was inspiring to listen to him, and I will think of his words in the darker moments on the trip.

I've known Hoggy for years, and when we coached together, we became good mates. I loved watching him play for Edinburgh and Scotland and went down to Kingston Park on a cold Friday to see him with Falcons. His attitude toward the game (& life) was relaxed but focused. He was good for me.

His wife, Emma, gave birth to their twin sons, Hamish and Campbell, 10 weeks early. 

The twins were cared for in the Simpsons Baby Unit in Edinburgh and that inspired them to tell their story, and the rest of the Coffey Clan joined in a crazy challenge to raise funds and awareness for the Unit.

I have admired him from afar for a long time on social media and we shared a similar story of travelling to the US to play rugby, he stuck around longer than me and made it home.

40 years ago, in the Dutch city of Utrecht, the very first Women's Rugby International took place between the Netherlands & France.

Many moons ago, I met Bruce Douglas as part of the Scottish Schools u18 team. Quiet, massive, likeable and a very good player. The only one of the group to go on to win a full cap.

His journey is a great story, he's a smart guy, Rugby isn't his everything and he is now a successful businessman. I love speaking to him, I love listening to him and I was delighted when he agreed to be a guest on the pod. Kinda want to work for him!

I was at the DAM Health Stadium to see Scotland v England in the Edinburgh sunshine, it was awesome. 

Jenny Maxwell plays scrum-half for Scotland and I was delighted she took some time from her busy schedule in camp to chat to me. 

Now one of the more experienced players, she's a leader on and off the field and is a Role Model for the future generations of players. She is so positive! It was an absolute joy. I loved it, I hope you enjoy listening.

I love his story, starting in Clubland at Stewartry, moving school, playing professionally and then looking to cement his place in the Scottish midfield before injury brought a premature end to his career.

I've known Graham Hogg since he was a kid and have watched his progress with interest. He has he played through the age groups, into the professional game, travelled, mental health, coaching and arrived back in his home town of Hawick to shape the future. Walsh played for Samurai, coached for Samurai, won a 🥇 medal at the Rio Olympics as coach of the Australian Womens 7s Team and then coached the AU 7s Mens Team in Tokyo.

Normally, I'm in the room to see and feel the reaction when I speak and ask the questions, so the pod was an unknown venture. 

After speaking to the MAGNIFICENT David Smith MBE, I felt flat. It was an amazing experience but the comedown was huge. I was tired. I couldn't believe what happened next.

Kevin McKenzie, the gritty, aggressive Scotland International hooker from Stirling County gave me a call and said he wanted to tell his story. He saw similarities between his journey and David's. The first call lasted 45mins!

Doing the pod inspired me. I didn't know Kev's story, I do now.

Very few tv shows have had such an impact on me. This guy, David Smith, had faced unbelievable challenges throughout his life, and he had many more to come.

He was my hero. I was inspired.
