Aswang are some of the most well known folkloric monsters in the Philippines. There are many different subclasses of Aswang, and part of the folklore talks about how to create them from human beings. Aswang have many rules and traits, but some of the most common involve shapeshifting, viscera sucking, black magic, and the attacking or devouring of humans.

The Carousel is an episodic narrative podcast with sci-fi, fantasy and dystopia elements, set far enough into the future, space expansion is the norm, following a lonely worker, who uses powers he gains from an ancient carousel to fight against the corporate entity he once worked for.

Episode 1: On a routine run for The Commission, Akhos, a Collections Specialist, stumbles upon an abandoned amusement park that has more to offer than he thinks.

THE CAROUSEL

On a desolate planet, Collections Specialist Akhos gains great powers from an ancient carousel, consequently stumbling upon a burgeoning revolution, led by The Obstructionists, against the corporate entity, The Commission, he once worked for. With his AI, Lassa and his new found powers to help his journey, Akhos fights horrific monsters with The Obstructionists after seeing they are helmed by a fellow Commission worker, Klaus.

The series almost mirrors the style of a Greek Tragedy, told with the help of the Narrator, who just might have her own stake in the story told.

Season One follows Akhos throughout his journey of gaining powers, joining The Obstructionists to fight against The Commission draining planets with The Machine, a mysterious device that gives the company its power, and learning why they inflict so much horror on the universe.

Mari recounts the time she and her Nanay (mom) were called by a rich family to exorcise a spirit called a batibat - a spirit of trees that have been cut down, which, in revenge for losing its home, kills people in their sleep.

But nothing is what it seems, even in a house full of wood and nightmares.

Content Warnings: Sleep paralysis horror, inclusion of child characters, mild physical abuse.

Additional info: A batibat, also known as a bangungot, is known for smothering people to death in their sleep, and is often mentioned when talking about mysterious deaths in someone's sleep without any known medical explanation.

What was the inspiration for Hi Nay? The characters are so rich and fully realized, I’d love to know the origin of the story!
How do you go about balancing character development/background with the more horror action scenes? Is there a reason Murphy is one of the last main characters to have his backstory explored?
Also silly question what are the main characters favorite/go to breakfast foods?
What was your favorite episode to write and/or record?
We talk a lot about "Who is the Benefactor?" but I want to know "Why is the Benefactor?" Why is he trying to amass power? Why does he hide his identity? What is his end goal?
Can we get more from the cannibal Elder? I support women's rights and women's wrongs.
(Act 2 spoilers, suicide mention cw) I have some questions about Drosselmeyer for the Q&A: What were their true feelings for Petja? Why didn't they create a clockwork doll body for themselves like they did for Lori, or kill the Elders with the spell they used to destroy their brain? And how did Mary-Anne create the "Good" Foci?
