Two-thirds of our cabinet went to private school while only 7% of the population did; twice as many children in the North East qualify for free school meals than the South East; 89% of children in Young Offender Institutes had been excluded; and there are six times more faith schools than special education needs schools. Our country is shaped by its education system, and so are we.

 

Each week, former teacher Mehreen Baig will talk to a special guest about their education. What school did they go to, what was it like, and how do they think it shaped them? From inspirational teachers, to opportunities, to bad behaviour, it’s time we got to the heart of why schools matter.
