2016 was such a crap year what with nationalism taking front and centre stage in the western world (Brexit and Trump) - I had to sit down and prepare myself with my version of a self help book, 9/40: Radical You! (Vol. 1) - on it were songs to remind me of who I am and why I am and what I must continue to do in resistance of right wing nuttiness.

Spoons, Pencils!, Call That A Master Race? and Biochemiclusterfuck were all a part of this album.

Now it's time for Radcial You (Vol. 2) - the virus album - which I am currently, hastily writing and hoping to record in the next few weeks! Wish me luck!

Radical You! Was the name of my 9th album out of 40 released in May 2017 - it looks like I'm about to write Radical You! (Vol. 2) in the next couple of weeks instead of recording UK Hun? (that will be later).

Ep.19 Live Show | 31.1.2020

This week is a bootleg recording (if doing it myself is considered a bootleg) of the show I performed last Friday, the day the UK left the EU, whilst in the Channel Island of Guernsey. I was headlining a comedy night at the beautiful St James' Concert Hall bar.

I thought it might be nice to document the night and how I was feeling. It was interesting to do it on an island that is a tax haven (not part of the UK, but under the protection of it) that is home to many many banks and the places where our pension funds actually make money. If Brexit negotiations go badly for the Channel Islands, there's not much to stop them aligning with a European country (there's 27 to choose from) for the money to continue without impediment.

So, that's the context with which i had to make jokes. And I think I did just fine!

Richard Kingston - artist, sculptor, animator and friend. He's just made the video for 'Pandas' - we sat down in December to discuss the project and to catch up. He's a smart, thoughtful and beautiful man whom I love very much.

Ever since I first played the Hawthorns' in Glastonbury, Richard has become a treasured friend. Despite everything going on in the world, he's always got something to smile about.

He put me in a Nespresso ad campaign he was working on. His client have included Glastonbury Festival, George Ezra, Ellie Goulding and Terry Pratchett.

We recorded this chat whilst Neil was still feeling like crap from a long, long journey down from Wales to Southampton - if you could see his face during this conversation, you'd know that he really need sleep more than he needed to sit down with me and record a podcast. But that's why he's also a great friend.

Many years ago we annoyed the entire Jaegermeister company with our on stage antics at an awards show. Since then, we've been causing trouble ever since. I love him to bits and he's been there for me in many a dark and light time.

Happy New Year!

Guitarist and artist, Wayne Muldowney, is a phenomenal man/brother of mine. As our bands used to play so many awesome shows together in our younger years, we had an affinity with each other that won't be broken. STOUT were and occasionally are one of the finest bands to have ever come out of Southampton. Loud, righteous art punk with pure hearts. They always went on stage as a solid unit of brothers.

In the intro I talk about wars and wildfires and what we can actually do about it. Apologies if this one sounds different - intro and outro recorded this morning on my phone in my mum's kitchen at 5.30am. The chat with Wayne was recorded on the day of the Hobo Sapien album launch that Wayne came to and thoroughly enjoyed.

This week I talk to Neil Crud - musician, archivist, punk, radio host and rebel. From a young age, Crud has been at the centre of the North Wales punk scene. From going to watch Black Flag in Colwyn Bay in 1981 to hosting Crud On Tudno FM, a weekly show that broadcasts everything you would never hear on the radio (including me) and getting in trouble with his band Spam Javelin. We met up just before I played a live session on his show in early November. We recorded our chat in hotel in Llandudno, so may hear some hubbub in the background.

Ep.11 Zan Lawther | SUPPORT

To thousands of people Zan is known as 'The Pink One' from The Lounge Kittens. To me, she's an old friend from the Southampton scene. She's incredible in so many ways. She's hilarious, smart, kind and (this is a huge compliment from me) hyper-organised. We're often texting back and forth whilst we're all over the country to check in. As part of the Kittens she's toured with Steel Panther and Status Quo, put in multiple shifts at multiple Glastonbury and Downloads festivals and the rest etc etc...they've released albums and EPs and LOADS of videos...they've raised so much money for charity...they've created a fanbase of pure love. Away from the stage, Zan works for Kilimanjaro, concert promoters to the stars - she's often wearing a hi-viz vest and TWO walkie-talkies as she works at shows for Ed Sheeran, The Darkness, Hans Zimmer...etc etc. Follow her on Twitter or Instagram.

I always look forward to having a curry with her.

Soon, the Kittens will come to an end with three last shows in Manchester, London and Southampton at the end of Feb 2020. I'm honoured to be playing the bass for part of these shows. Apparently we're going to have a tour bus, I'm going to write loads of lies on the side of it.

Lucy Hopkins is a clown and intergalactic soul explorer. I'm not sure quite how to describe her. I first met her at her show SCRT CRCL that was on at midnight every night of the 2018 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. A ceremony of stupidity and permissiveness and laughter, all delivered in The Magical Spiegelyurt. I fell in love instantly with the show and probably went 5 nights in a row. Lucy and I catch up and talk about everything firstly in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh (until we got thrown out) and then in Greyfriar's Kirk - where they tried to throw us out.

Dave Allon has become an integral part of the /40 album project. He's played drums on 'Tories' and we made a whole album together in the form of '12/40: BEASTS' from 2018 as well as providing the hyper-kinetic drums on many tracks from the new album. He's just a brilliant, gregarious friend and tells a wonderful tale. He's recently been part of the orchestra for a production of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, from which he's still recovering. ULLLLLAAAAA!

Sue Hart disappeared for two years and came back with a dog-collar on. She talks to me about music, singing and why she hates religion but loves doing the good work.
