Unfortunately, she's been out with an injury since summer, but that doesn't stop us from digging deep into AVLFC and what it's like being a role model for young players.

I didn't want the issues laid out on this podcast to be dictated by results, fixtures and performances. In this first episode, I've taken on Stan Collymore's thirteen point plan. Stan came out with a plan, and I've taken it upon myself to take a look at each of these points in a bit of detail.So yeah, have a listen - I certainly started off a bit nervous, but I grew into it. After reviewing the last two matches, we discussed possible transfer targets that could be heading to Birmingham in the coming month. Well, we've made it to the turning point of the season. A busy festive period with three very winnable fixtures within the span of a week gives Aston Villa an opportunity to more than double their current total. Or, they could just lose all three and confirm our fears of relegation! Villa continue search for the elusive second win

Well let's see, what's happened since our last podcast? Rémi Garde managed his first match at Villa. And in one match he did 25% of the point total that Tim Sherwood and Kevin MacDonald had gotten in eleven. That's not bad! And then you remember that the point came against league-leading Manchester City and that becomes downright great!Then we had the international break, and of course with that comes injury. Usually it's not to bad, but this time it cost us left-back Jordan Amavi for the rest of the season with a horrific knee knock.With Villa back this weekend, though, they'll try to soldier on and build on a great performance against City. Going to Everton is never easy, but a win here could mean that Rémi Garde's team have the momentum they're going to need.

Aston Villa try something new as Garde takes over just after Spurs loss

There's a new sheriff in town at Aston Villa. Or whatever it is that they call sheriffs in France. That's right, just as expected, Rémi Garde has taken over as the club's new manager to replace the recently-discarded Tim Sherwood. And the look on his face as he sat in the stands and watched Villa get trounced by Spurs was one that does not bode well for the players. I hope they enjoy strenuous workouts!And oh yeah, there was that loss to Spurs. If you focus on the 15 minutes of good, tough play, it was really encouraging. If you ignore them, it was absolutely terrible. We'll try and fall somewhere in between as we take a look at the match and see if there is anything we can take from it and apply to this weekend's match against Manchester City. And some player. Some player we all dislike.

Swansea look like Villa's last chance at a win for a long time

Well then, last weekend didn't go as well as we had hoped. The first half hour, wasn't bad, but then Brad Guzan did Brad Guzan things and it all fell apart. How to fix Aston Villa over the international break in one step

Jack and I have taken two weeks off of podcasting since Villa won at Anfield, and this is still our sixth episode since Villa have last gotten three points. Goodness. But like it or not, at least the draw at West Ham staunched the bleeding a little bit this weekend. Thanks to a heroic effort from Brad Guzan and an anti-hero-like effort from West Ham's strikers, Villa managed to come away from the match with a point.But they didn't score, and they never really looked as if they might. It's been, obviously, a big problem all season, and we dig into that a little bit. And with the international break upon us (Again? Aston Villa have six straight losses, and everything is miserable

You may have noticed that we did not have a podcast last week. This was a deliberate move, as Jack and I decided that 30 minutes of cursing was probably not something that we wanted to broadcast to the world, and that's all you would have gotten after Aston Villa's absolutely pitiful 2-0 loss to QPR.But cursing or no, we can't take a two-week hiatus. So we're back, and Villa have now lost six straight matches, and only scored once since September 13. Things are as dire as they can be after the loss to Tottenham - a loss that saw the only routinely competent-looking Villa striker get a straight red card and a three match band - and we needed a way to cope. So we asked Steve Green to join us. Alright, losing 3-0 to Arsenal is fine. Doing the same to Chelsea? Acceptable. A 2-0 loss that was competitive for 82 minutes to Manchester City was even, dare we say it, encouraging. But 3-0 to Everton? A team that had allowed more goals than any other in the Premier League? Well, that's just infuriating.And it doesn't help that Aston Villa played terribly to boot.Jack and Robert are back to dissect yet another loss. Four in a row in a stretch that we knew was capable of producing exactly that kind of run. And in fact, that's the only thing keeping most Villa fans sane right now. Lose 3-0 to QPR on Monday, though, and you can bet we all lose that tenuous grasp.

We took last week off, and Aston Villa gave us another 3-0 loss. That's two in a row, but to Arsenal and Chelsea. Not bad teams to find yourself losing to. But even with those losses, this is a club that's in a vastly better position than they have been in for years. 10 points through 6 matches is better than most of us would have hoped for, and it's good enough to have Villa sitting sixth in the League. Jack and Robert return this week to talk about those matches, but also to focus on some of Villa's upside right now.
