Award-winning science communicator and author Susan Joy Hassol says the costs of not acting "are so enormous that there’s no comparison".

The Director of the non-profit Climate Communication joins us on this episode of Hot In Here, as we take a deep dive into climate solutions.

It turns out many are "win-win", meaning “we can save lots of problems at the same time”.

We also ask our guest to paint a picture of what the world could look like in 2050, if humanity rises to the challenge of climate change.

How to turn climate anxiety into action | Climate Psychologists

Stressed about climate change? Does thinking about the future of our planet fill you with dread? Well you're not alone. It's a common and very natural response and it has a name: climate anxiety. It’s particularly affecting young people, who are feeling a lot of weight on their shoulders and are frustrated by governments not doing enough.

But is it possible to turn these intense emotions into something productive? Climate psychologists Dr. Patrick Kennedy-Williams and Dr Megan Kennedy-Woodard have just written a book, Turn the Tide on Climate Anxiety, which gives people the tools to do just that.

On this episode, Jackson sits down with the pair to understand what climate change is doing to our mental health, and learn about how we can channel our anxiety into action.

Climate change facts with a science guru | Dr Karl Kruszelnicki

Climate change can be confusing and difficult to comprehend. So we thought we would enlist the help of one of Australia's most celebrated science communicators, to get a better understanding of the science behind one of the biggest challenges facing humanity. Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, known best as simply Dr Karl, did his first story on climate change back in 1981.

More than four decades later the brilliantly bright broadcaster is still educating audiences about the grave threat posed by a warming planet, including through his book Dr Karl's Little Book of Climate Change Science.

On this episode, Dr Karl busts some climate myths and declares we need to wage war against climate change.

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio even cited the scientist as inspiration for his performance in the Netflix hit Don't Look Up.

It might seem like an unlikely tool, but Mann believes humour can be deployed as a secret weapon in the fight against climate change.

In a wide-ranging discussion, Michael Mann declares it's still possible to maintain a liveable planet, but says we need to act boldly, dramatically and quickly. The scientist also offers practical tips for talking about climate change, and discusses ways we can get politicians to take more meaningful climate action.
